Isamu concentrated on the song he played, it was a gentle melody filled with peace and hope. He had heard his mother sing it when he was younger and his father would join in and accompany the melody with the shamisen which belonged to him back then. his eyes remained closed for as long as he played, it was something he would usually do while the other seishi and the mike slept. It allowed them to have pleasant dreams and sleep soundlessly and be relaxed and ready for the next day to come. You could say probably neither of them knew of this, but he did it to help them, and whenever he did something for others, at least most of the time, he would not go about boasting. He rather keep it a secret. not because he wanted them to think him a rather odd and strange person, but because he believed that when you did something for others, you did not need to brag about it because that was not the reason you did such things. It made everything irrelevant to say the least. He sighed for music was also something he enjoyed and played to cleanse himself form any bad memories. It helped him keep focused on the task at hand and forget about the past.
However, now Hotori knew about this, although, he id not expect her to consider the possibility that this could be something he did every night once everyone slept quietly. He did not mind her knowing though, since he carried the instrument in its case on his back wherever he went, it was such an important part of him now that he had no problem admitting he enjoyed being a minstrel occasionally, if he could be called such. that did not mean he was soft or weak, quite the contrary, it was the means for a warrior to stand the grievances of life. His rough hands, which were so used to wielding his weapons and protecting his clients, were rather gentle and almost enchanting to watch as they moved graciously on the strings of the shamisen. the melody even charmed the forest and everything looks more magical and beautiful and the wind caressed his face and made him feel at peace, something that for him…could only be achieved by music.
But then, his music reached another level for a soft and high-pitched voice began to utter some words, following the rhythm, singing to what he played and if just for a moment, his eyes opened and he looked down at Hotori. It reminded him even more of those times when his parents would spend time together, he would sometimes hide on trees and watch them sing and play and even dance at times and that made him happy. If just for a very, very, short moment, Isamu smiled down at Hotori. but soon the smile faded and he continued to play as she stopped singing. She leaned down to look at the stars the very same way he would when he was younger, and innocent. But those years were fast gone and his innocence was destroyed by selfish people. Man was indeed man’s wolf. When she moved to resume her reading he stopped focusing on her and instead closed his eyes and moved to a rather sad yet beautiful song, one that invited sleep to take over. one that removed all the pain away and yet reminded you that it was just part of life itself. He had hear it somewhere along his travels and he quickly picked up the melody and began practicing, he could easily learn songs and play them within minutes, he had that great musical ear and talent. Some used to believe he would be like his father in that aspect.
Would they be surprised if they could see him now and prove themselves right? He took a deep breath and relaxed as his fingers delicately increased and decreased the volume of the song transmitting the message of a long awaited sleep that caressed those nearby. He also ensured to keep it gentle and silent like a whisper. Using pianissimo tempo and touching the strings more gently and weakly, it could be said his persona could be strict and powerful in battle but he could be so gentle all the same and the way he played his instrument or handled the barn owl were the best proof he could offer.
As he kept his eyes shut and his face was at peace enjoying his ow melody, the cold midnight air whisked away and caressed his long dark hair that would at times touch his hands or the shamisen, making him look like a charmer or a dream and a light red aura surrounded him. The wind was refreshing to his face and he took in a deep breath and got lost in his own melody.
In a way he decided to play a while longer since Hotori seemed to be enjoying his music very much. In all honesty he was used to playing on his own or to ensure his customers had a good night’s sleep, or whenever his memories would haunt him and be too much for him to bear. But now, it was a brand new experience and he knew that as much as he would like to deny it, it was rather enjoyable. it showed his talent had finally produced results and these were exceptionally good because he could tell the mike was truly honest and she would not have sung along if she had not liked it.
He wondered though, would the others like it as well? What were the odds that they would approve of this. In fact, come to think of it, he rather not play for them, at least not yet. He did not want to make a fool of himself and he wished to ensure the respect of the other seishi. So for now this would be another secret for the both of them to share. His amber eyes shone bright as if an inner light emanated form them and slowly and almost regretfully the song soon came to an end and his aura diminished and the wind ceased to blow as if to mark the fact that the song would be no more. He sighed and then looked at the horizon.

Hotori read for a little while as Isamu continued to play. She wondered why he didn't play more often, and for the others, but decided that wasn't her place to ask. No, this would be one more small thing she would keep close to her heart and not reveal to the others. Eventually, he shifted into a different yet equally lovely song. It seemed to bring up even more memories of when she was younger. She set her book aside gently, and pulled her knees up to her cest before wrapping her arms around her knees and resting her chin on them. She stared into the fire for a while as she listened to the music and let her mind drift to the past.
She could just barely remember going to a festival with her parents when she was almost five...not long before they'd died. She had played a game that let her catch a little frog, but her mother said she was too little for a pet so she'd had to give it back and take a stuffed toy instead. It was a bear almost as big as she was at the time, and she had latched onto it instantly. Come to think of it, that bear was still sitting in her room back home...
Slowly her eyes fluttered shut, and without her even realizing it, she was dreaming sweet dreams of that lovely festival. She'd had a pretty new green kimono and shiny new geta that clacked when she walked. She'd especally enjoyed walking along the boardwalk to look at the food and games. Her parents had let her eat more sweets than usual, and had let her run a bit more free. It was almost as if they had done all they could to make that last family outing the best it could possibly be, as if they'd known they wouldn't get the change again.
The last thing she could remember from that day was drifting off to sleep in her father's arms, still clutching her stuffed bear and feeling like the luckiest child in the world. She wasn't even aware when the tune Isamu had been playing ended, as she was already fast asleep.
((OOC: Not a very long post, but there's not a lot she can do once she falls asleep. xD))

Isamu stared at the stars for a very long time. He wondered if what he had been told in the past was true and people were actually closed to you after life than they were when they were a months the living. He sighed and then began to put his instrument back in its bag. He then ensured every weapon was in place and he fastened his cloak. He looked around to ensure no one was nearby since h head still been a bit suspicious when he realised someone had been watching them all this time. But no one was about, he sighed in relief before he jumped off the tree branch and landed on his feet and bent his knees. It was then he realised the fire was beginning to diminish and he walked toward Hotori. To suppose that she would still be awake after he played that song which usually rocked people to sleep, would be foolish. Besides, he was fully aware that she and gone through hard times an it was taking its toll on her now. So, it was understandable if she finally collapsed. He was glad though she she seemed to be at peace and nice dreams clouded her mind and welcome dyer body t rest and mend and get energy in order to face the new day that awaited them on the horizon. There were a couple of more hours before the sunlight shone upon them and he knew he had to stay on guard, having had his good amount of sleeping hours, he was never too greedy since he was always looking after others. It was his job, after all, he was used to it. He would even have enough time to prepare breakfast for everyone so they could move on.
He sighed, they still had to look for one more seishi before the ritual could take place right? He finally came back to his senses when he realised it was getting slightly colder and Hotori was still out of her tent sleeping. The normal thing would be to carry her back into her bed and ensure she was comfortable, however, as he rubbed the back of his neck he thought of the other two seishi, one in particular, he could easily misinterpret things and he did not want either of them thinking the worse of him just because he was a gentleman and took she sleeping Priestess back to her bed after comforting her and scaring her nightmares away. He sighed, he could not leave her to sleep there either, it would also infuriate the other seishi. Oh, whatever! He ran a hand through his face before he looked around once more, everything was still calm and silent and so he approached her and knelt before her. He took her book and closed it and placed it next to him for a brief moment before loping back into the maiden’s happy face, it pleased him greatly that now she could rest at ease, although, he hoped Suzaku would protect her aunt, he did not want her to return to her world and find her gone, if that was the case then he would be the first seishi to rebel against Suzaku… He had seen enough darkness in one lifetime.
He moved closer and gently placed a hand behind her knees and the other moved her body and head to rest gently on his chest.She was so light, or it was also probably that he was rather strong to be able to lift her so easily and at the same time pick up her book. He ensured not to move too forcefully not to harm her or wake her up. He knew he had to be gentle for she was as frail as a porcelain doll in his eyes. Probably because if her seishi made a wrong move then it would be the end of everything…He slowly stood up and looked at her, she was so benevolent he hoped that life would always smile upon her, in many ways she reminded him of a water lily, pure and unreachable but yet beautiful and wish delightful fragrance.
He walked back to her tent and gently moved the curtain to avoid hurting or startling her. He then reached her makeshift bed and opened the blanket. He placed her book nearby so she could easily find it once she woke up and he slowly leaned forth and placed her in the bed. He extended her legs carefully and then ensured her head was on the pillow. slowly he pulled the covers and tucked her in, ensuring she would be kept warm and finally he moved a lock of hair from her face and he smiled, if for a brief moment. But then he frowned, he had not smiled in years, why had she the power to do so? It was the third time this night!
He sighed, he had to ensure this did not repeat itself, he could not show emotions and he had promised himself that many years ago. Feelings were useless and only brought him pain and suffering, whereas an existence without them allowed him to do his job and fight the enemy. Yes, he was free now, from attachments and form anything that could be used against him.
Or so he thought.
Finally aware of the fact that he was still leaning in front of Hotori he winced and annoyed he began to move away knowing he better leave her tent before anything happened. He did not want any problems with the seishi or the miko at this stage. They had to work together properly…

In that strange manner that which only dreams are capable, Hotori felt her father tuck her younger, sleeping form into her bed. She had still been clutching the bear, and now her father attempted to pull it from her grasp.
"No..." Hotori murmured in her sleep, not realizing that what she caught in her grip now was not her favorite bear, but was instead the front of Isamu's cloak as the Seishi pulled away from her. "Don't go..." She mumbled. "...Want to..." In one fluid motion, she rolled onto her side in her camp bed and simultaneously pulled the bear closer. "Keep...teddy...bear..." She finished as she snuggled deeper into the blankets.
Hotori was lost to the waking world, but in her dream, her father relented and left the bear. She and the bear, her new friend, were going to have a magical adventure, and many, many games of make-believe. These dream-games were different from the ones she had actually played as a child, for they included magical books and people with powers, and lovely, lovely songs. And the dreams were so wonderful nothing short of sunrise would wake her from them.

Isamu was already thinking of going to the nearby river and catch some salmon, that would make for good and healthy breakfast and would keep them going for quite a while now. They had to reach the nearest town, they could not simply delay the journey any longer. They had to get a move on and with that strange presence nearby he did not want to become an easy target, what if that person planned an ambush or what if he was a member of a band of thieves and thugs? That would make things much worse he deemed. He would now go to the bonfire and remove all evidence of it and then he would pack his things and have the horses ready so that they could leave as soon as everyone had their breakfast. Yes, he would do that, anything to keep their mike safe. Of course he could not have guessed what sort of dreams the Priestess could be having now, nor would he know that he was moving rather slowly due to his trail of thought keeping him occupied. But it was the fact that she spoke in her sleep that made him realise she held loving memories of her parents still, and it seemed she was fond of something in particular since she pet pressing her arms around her. He was fascinated, if he could get there anything similar nearby he gladly would. If that would make her happy. Then a though occurred him, he could ask Sei, since he was her confident he would know what she missed the most from her homelands and he would try and pro sure something as similar as possible.
He finally moved back and was about to stand up when he felt hands pull at the front of his cloak which forced him to leans back inadvertently and he gasped silently. He knew she was still asleep but he usually did not have to deal with this whenever he was someone else’s bodyguard and he was at a loss when it came to being physically or emotionally close to others. It was simply, he had NO contact whatsoever with anyone else so how could anyone expect him to know what to do at moments such as these? And the the words, her words which seemed to present her as someone fragile, someone who needed looking after in this creel world that was out to get her…
“No... Don't go...Want to…”
He winced at the thought of touching her hands again, for the memories of their previous chat was still in his mind, nonetheless, he still tried to open them to let go of his cloak. The last thing he wanted was a scandal for having lowered his guard and not simply done the mere chose of placing her back in her bed and leaving to mind his own businesses. He was slightly taken aback by the word, could this be only her dreams or could this mean she actually needed him? If so why? She had all swish looking after her so why would she bond with someone who was as cold as ice? He silently cursed under his breath and when he had finally gotten her to release his cloak without harming her of course when…
”Keep…teddy…bear…"
He gasped even louder when suddenly he felt soft and warm arms envelope around his neck and pull him against her before he could do anything, even move away quickly enough. He did not recall being this close to anyone, not since his mother had died, when she would tenderly shelter him form any pain and could caress his long dark hair and promise tomorrow would be a batter day. Not since Aoi would pull him against her in a loving embrace and let their lips bond, in what he believed to be reciprocated feelings but later found out it had all been…treason. his eyes beamed an intense amber colour as he recalled all these events, however, he and to admit he did not feel any of those emotions at present. He felt calm and almost as if…he belonged in that embrace. He could feel the warmth of their closeness and spell her perfume. His eyes looked down at her face and he sighed and shook his head, he was pathetic.
Her grip was sight, but he would have to move away, he could not let the others find them like this… He blushed a deep red due to such thoughts and then the colour changed to a darker one for he realised that his body did not wish to obey his reasoning and so he slapped himself mentally and then sneaked out of her arms. He took deep breaths to regain composure and covered her with her blankets once more. He quickly stood up and fixed his cloak before he strode out of her tent without turning to look even once back in her direction. He ignored everything that had transpired that night and got to work. He went fishing and got enough salmon for everyone, he used the ashes to cook the fish with salt, pepper and parsley and finally removed all evidence that they had been there. He readied the horses and filled the water skins. He then went for a mild walk to clear his thoughts and regain composure. once it was time he ensured to be back and having his own breakfast while the rest got up and readied themselves.
During his walk in the woods he had ensured that a beautiful nightingale would perish near Hotori’s tent to sing her to wake up and he smiled hearing the song, he mentally thanked the beautiful bird for that. Yet his smile faded and he sat by a log wondering if she even knew what had happened in her sleep…he drank form his water skin.

((OOC: I'll be doing the time skip part-way through this post. Since Hotori and Haru are my only two characters in the group present here, I can't really do much with the others. Also, it figured we'd finally get Isamu to blush, and Hotori's asleep and misses it. xD))
Hotori awoke slowly and gently from some of the best dreams she'd had since arriving in this world. As she was lulled awake, she realized a bird was singing nearby. It was a nice way to wake up, really, much better than her annoying alarm clock back home. She sat up and began to ready herself to greet the day. She was half-way through combing out her hair when memories from last night began to drift back to her.
She'd woken from a nightmare, and left the campsite crying. Then...then Isamu had come and comforted her, even cheering her up by letting her pet a barn owl. It had all been surprisingly...well, intimate wasn't the right word, not really. Gentle wasn't it, either. Personal, perhaps? She shook the thought away as she continued to get ready and recall what happened next.
She'd wanted to read for a while, and Isamu had started playing a lovely little tune. That felt like another personal thing, and she felt privileged that he'd shared it with her. She really couldn't remember what happened next. She'd begun to remember a time over thirteen years ago. One of her first memories, and one of the only ones to include her parents. She supposed she'd fallen asleep there by the fire with her book, but then how had she ended up in her tent once more?
There was only one logical answer, and it occurred to her as soon as she silently asked the question. Isamu must have brought her here. She mentally pictured how it must have looked, him carrying her to bed and tucking her in, and she blushed deeply. If the others had seen, Haru would tease her even more about being a kid. She silently hoped she hadn't said or done anything too embarrassing while asleep. Once she was ready, and no longer a few shades pinker than normal, she packed her things and exited her tent, smiling to see the others were already moving about
"Good morning!" She called cheerfully. The bird that had served as her alarm clock sang a greeting, and Hotori whistled the melody back at it.
"You seem happy this morning..." Haru said with a grin as he handed her some breakfast. She was sure Isamu had fixed it, as he was the only one who looked like he hadn't just woken up. "Sleep well?"
"Nothing but good dreams." She said with a nod. Well, they were good after she'd fallen back to sleep, so she didn't consider that a lie. She looked around the camp and could see they were already mostly ready to go. Her emerald eyes spotted Isamu, and she gave him a smile. "Thanks, Isamu-kun..." For everything. "For breakfast." She added, spotting Haru's raised eyebrow. She hoped Isamu would know what she meant.
As she ate her breakfast and prepared to leave with the others, she couldn't shake the thought that perhaps the so-called 'Ice Knight' may not be as frozen as everyone-himself included-seemed to think.
~~~
They reached the next town about mid-day, and everyone was given their tasks to help ensure the group could continue on their way as quickly as possible. As usual, Hotori's only task was to stay out of trouble. She crossed her arms with a huff. She was the youngest person in their group, but she wasn't a child. She was old enough to go to university, after all, and planned to get a job teaching. She would be working with children, but that didn't mean she was one herself.
She looked down at her attire, and frowned. Traveling was hard on clothing, and she noticed that her qi pao was stained, just a little, and looked like it could use a little mending. It was the only one she'd brought with her, as she hadn't expected them to be gone as long as they had been. Since Washi had met up with them, money really wasn't an issue anymore, and so perhaps she could get someone to take her around to the dressmaker's and see if she could pick up a new outfit. She'd hate to look shabby once they returned to the castle, after all.
She mentally checked off each member of her group, trying to decide who to ask. Felix and Shouri were out automatically, as Haru had made it clear she was not supposed to go anywhere without one of her own Seishi. Washi was waiting for them at the palace, so she couldn't ask her. That left Sei, Haru, and Isamu. Sei and Haru had vanished on separate errands. Sei had gone to pick out some more arrows to go with Hotor's bow. She'd barely used it, but had lended it to Sei when they had gotten ambushed by bandits, and had lost most of her arrows. She had also tried her hand at hunting a time or two, wanting to be helpful, though she had missed most of the time, and hadn't found her arrows in the thick underbrush. She wasn't upset, really. She hadn't really had the heart to kill the rabbit, even if she could justify eating it later that evening. Haru had slipped off into the marketplace to get some grain for their horses and had also mentioned stopping in to see his family, as this was his home town. They had promised to meet back up in a couple hours' time.
That left Isamu. He was the only one of her Seishi not, as far as she knew, otherwise occupied. Squaring her shoulders with determination, and a desire to be taken seriously, she strode over to him and spoke without hesitation.
"Isamu-kun, will you go with me to the dressmaker's?" She realized it sounded like a very silly request the moment she uttered it, but it was too late to turn back now. "I need a new outfit, especially if we're heading back to the capital. I don't want to show up looking like a street rat." She felt her resolve lessen a little. It really did sound shallow when she said it out loud, but with the Empress as her Seishi, she didn't want to embarrass Washi. "Washi-chan gave me money before we left, so I can pay for the dress myself...but Haru-kun said I have to take a Seishi with me wherever I go. Would you please go with me?"
Isamu watched as the other seishi woke up and he handed them their share of the for before he walked toward the river to wash everything. Once ready he leaned his back on a tree and crossed his arms across his chest and took in the fresh morning air while closing his eyes and allowing the wind to play with his cloak and long hair. He then heard the nightingale and smiled, once it was done with singing for the Priestess and she came out of her tent, the bird graciously flew toward Isamu and perched on his shoulder, he nodded to the bird and then it took off once more. Apparently whoever had been spying on them had not been seen since last night. It made him wonder though, what could annoy one want with them? Could it be that after all this time he had finally found them again? He frowned and hoped that would not be the case. He would not let him harm anyone in this fellowship, he thought he had finally given up after his last miserable attempt, but it seemed to him that people like that man never learned. He was like a goldfish with the capacity of holding memories for only fifteen seconds before he did the same thing over and over again. He sighed and finally opened his eyes the moment Hotori came out of her tent. Isamu had helped Haru and see with their tents and now all that was missing was for Hotori’s tent to be tended to. For some reason he felt anxious and wished to continue with the trip. Surely the rest of seishi would feel as much.
“Good morning!”
"You seem happy this morning...Sleep well?"
"Nothing but good dreams.”
Isamu was glad to hear that although he did not show it and he allowed the Priestess to converse with the other seishi while he found his north and was ready to lead the group once more. He allowed them to get to their horses and then he felt eyes upon him. The miko seemed to have enjoyed the food and he was glad, she smiled at him but he could see much more than mere gratitude over breakfast in her eyes. For a moment he was unsure what to say, he had never been granted a “thank you” or a smile once his job was done, most persons considered that they simply paid him money or goods and there was no need for more.
"Thanks, Isamu-kun…”
He noticed the way Haru looked at Hotori and decided against showing anything but his usual cold self and he walked over to the Priestess followed by his horse and as he helped her to the front of the saddle he said, “Think nothing of it, Hotori-sama, it is our duty to make sure you are well fed.”
He wondered though, if she would understand the true meaning of her words. What they truly implied, he simply wanted her to know he was happy he could help her find peace of mind and he would do so again and again if he had to. Anything to make his miko happy. He got on the saddle behind her and gently placed his arms around her waist to take the reins. With his right hand he held her around the waste and with the left hand he held the reins in between his fingers. He nodes at the other seishi and after giving the horse a slight nudge with his heels they moved at a walk. Once they left the thickness of the forest he urged the horses into a canter, it was easier to ride fast in open plans and the horses liked them more than hard roads or muddy and slippery paths. they also would struggle with thick trees. And s the ride was fruitful and they reached the town soon enough. Once there everyone had things to do, Isamu for one wanted to get information on the latest news, perhaps that would tell him if his suspicions were correct and that vermin was following their tails. He jumped off the horse and then helped Hotori descend holding her gently and ensuring she easily stepped on the ground.
Haru and Isamu had a brief conversation about the things they needed to do in the town and how long they would remain there. He agreed to stay behind and wait for the others to do as they wished, he was in no hurry and in all honesty he did not have that many things to do. He could tell how it infuriated Hotori to be treated like a small child but everyone worried for her safety and usually… she seemed to have a knack for getting into trouble although he did not blame her, she was so innocent and good most would try and take advantage of that. He drew his shamisen and with a piece of cloth he only used to tend to his instrument he sat by a rock and began to polish it and he ensured the strings were on the right key, all this travelling could affect an instrument and this was one of his treasures, the last vestige of his family heirloom. The only one that survive the fire alongside him.
He focused on his job at hand after running hand through his dark fringe. however, he was still aware of Hotori’s whereabouts and restlessness. Now, he refused to treat her like a child and so he would give her as much space as she needed. She needed to breathe form time to time, of course that did not mean he was not looking after her, he still was, but his own way. He was after all used to being a bodyguard. It was his job. And he had many years of experience to back that up. It also helped the protégée feel more at ease and not imprisoned, i could be difficult to keep the balance but Isamu prided himself in that. He continued to tend to his instrument when he heard approaching feet. He did not look up nor did he stop what he was doing, he sensed her and knew it was Hotori and she seemed about ready to go mad if she did not do something aside from waiting here.
“Isamu-kun, will you go with me to the dressmaker’s?”
He still did not move from what he was doing and his eyes concentrated on the shamisen as he though this over. He did not want Haru getting upset with him it was already hard enough to get his respect and tolerance when he joined the group. He still remains din the same position and doing as he had been doing for the past five minutes, however, he spoke, “Haru told you to sty here until he returned, we cannot leave and let them worry later on if they cannot find us. The dress will have to wait Hotori-sama.” his tone was not patronising, rather conversing, he did NOT want her to feel like a child in his presence.
“I need a new outfit, especially if we're heading back to the capital. I don't want to show up looking like a street rat.”
It was then when he stopped what he was doing and his amber eyes looked up searching for her emerald abysses. He knew she could not lie and the clothes did look worn out due to the weather and long journey. He noticed she began to hesitate and feel rather embarrassed of her words. He sighed and began to put everything away, in all honesty it was not a simple matter of saying yes or no, other people depended on them.
“Washi-chan gave me money before we left, so I can pay for the dress myself...but Haru-kun said I have to take a Seishi with me wherever I go. Would you please go with me?”
He finished packing his instrument and placed everything on the sachets on the back of their horse. He only kept his weapons with him and sighed. He could not keep her standing here for hours, he might as well guide her through the city. Without turning to look at her he said, “wait here…” He wrote a small note to Haru saying they would meet them in a bit and whistling to a pigeon he handed it the note and it flew looking for Haru, he indeed had a strong bond wit animals. He whispered to his horse and handing it to a stables boy he whispered he would need the horse ready to leave at any moment. Just in case there was an emergency of some sort. He liked to foresee the unforeseeable, it was part of is job.
Finally he returned to where he left her and said, “Let us make it quick ok?” He then began to walk toward the city centre where the main shops could be found. they walked in silence for a while, and he looked around, once they finally arrived to the clothes taylor he realised there were only ladies inside and he felt a bit embarrassed he rubbed the back of his neck; it would be too presumptuous for him to go inside with his miko and then not give her the privacy she needed. He looked down at her for a long moment before he said, “This is one of the best shops, go in and get your dress, however, if anything strange happens you must let me know, understood?” It was the code of the bodyguard, for the protégée to trust him and for him to be able to trust his customer as well. He allowed her to go inside and then leaned his back against the wall next to the entrance and crossed his arms thoughtfully, that way he would remain close to her and would always know who came inside and who left.
He stood there for a few minutes and then realised that right in front of him there was a shop for crafts for children, and his eyes came across what looked like a medium sized stuffed bear. It brought him back to the night before, which he had been trying to ignore, when Hotori had said something about a teddy bear, maybe she missed the one she had back at her world. He looked behind him for a brief moment and realised someone was guiding Hotori to a dress room to get measures and the like so he used that moment to enter the shop and get that stuffed bear.
Hotori thought for one long moment that Isamu would refuse to take her. When he mentioned that Haru had told her to stay put, she came close to swearing for the first time in her life. When at last he did agree, however, she couldn't stop the smile so wide it almost hurt her face. Surely, of all the Seishi, Haru could have no complaints with her going with Isamu. After all, though he was hesitant to admit it, she had a feeling he felt a grudging sort of respect for the older man. She'd first picked up on it when Haru heard how Isamu had saved her back in Sailo. She watched Isamu write the note and send it off before getting his horse situated.
Part of her felt that she should've been annoyed when he told her to stay put, as it was just the same thing Haru had done before leaving, but it felt different coming from Isamu. He wasn't treating her like a child...and had even called her a 'woman' the previous night, though she still sometimes had trouble thinking of herself that way.
As they walked to the dressmaker's, she was surprised but pleased that he didn't make her hold his hand or arm, as Haru usually did. She actually liked walking hand-in-hand with others, just as she liked giving and receiving hugs, but it seemed to be another way Isamu was treating her as an adult. She stayed close to his side, however, as she didn't want to wander off and abuse that trust.
“This is one of the best shops, go in and get your dress, however, if anything strange happens you must let me know, understood?”
Hotori nodded. "Yes, Isamu-kun. I promise to let you know immediately." With a small smile of thanks, she slipped into the shop. She was instantly approached by the woman who ran the shop. She was a very short, older woman with a pleasant smile and twinkling eyes.
"How can I help you, my dear?" She asked Hotori in a surprisingly strong tone, given her age.
"I'd like a new dress." Hotori answered. She glanced back over her shoulder at the entrance to the store, as if checking to make sure Isamu hadn't vanished, not that she'd expected him to. She then turned back to the woman. "I would like something comfortable,but nice."
The woman watched Hotori's gaze flit to the tall man waiting outside, and gave her a knowing smile. "Something to please your husband, then?"
Hotori flushed deeply. "What?" The woman's words caught up with her all of a sudden and she shook her head. "Oh, no, Isamu-kun's not my husband! He's..." She floundered for a moment, trying to think of what to say. She couldn't say Seishi, as she was supposed to hide the fact that she was the Miko, and she couldn't say bodyguard, as that would raise the question as to why she would need one, and again, she was supposed to hide her Miko status. "He's...a friend. A chaperone while I'm in town..."
The woman's eyes twinkled as she took Hotori's hand and led her toward a dressing room for measurements. "Call it what you like, my dear, I saw the way you smiled at him befroe entering." Hotori glanced over her shoulder once more, glad to see that Isamu wasn't looking her way, and couldn't see her blush. She figured it was best not to try to argue with the woman, and instead focused on her request.
"Really, I'm not particular..." The Miko managed, fighting down her blush. "And it wouldn't have to be a perfect fit, if you have something similar to my size. I just...found myself without a change of clothing."
"Oh, one of those situations, then?" The woman asked conversationally as she poked and prodded at Hotori to figure out what may fit her. "Your family didn't approve of him, I take it? Running away is romantic, if a bit dramatic..."
"What? No!" Hotori shook her head. "I mean it really isn't like that. We're just..." She was once again blushing as she tried to think of an argument that would convince her.
"It's alright, child. I won't turn you in." The woman gave a wink before turning away. "I think I've got something that may fit your needs. If you'll wait here, I'll go get it and we can see if it needs altering."
Hotori watched the woman go before slipping out of the dressing room, though she didn't wander far. She just wanted to look at the skeins of fabric while the woman was gone. Honestly, why was she so convinced the pair of them had some...sordid love affair going on, or something? Couldn't a girl in this world have a male friend without them being...lovers? She blushed even deeper when she thought that last word, and was sure she was now red enough that, with her green hair, she must resemble a Christmas decoration. It was a silly notion though...her and Isamu. Not that he wasn't handsome, but he wasn't the sort to be interested in a girl like her...and she wasn't interested in him either. Besides, the age gap was quite large, and he probably liked women closer to his own age. Then again, for all she knew about Isamu personally, he could, like Haru and Sei, prefer men closer to his own age. She shook her head to clear the thoughts away. Why was she even pondering this question? It was just proof that she wasn't getting enough mental stimulation here. Perhaps she'd ask Isamu to teach her that instrument of his...that would help to pass the time and keep her occupied, wouldn't it?
((OOC: I had fun with the shop owner. xD Sorry it's not as long as the last one though. ^^;; ))
All this time, Ahriman had been inside the drag gin shop and had been listening intently to Hotori’s conversation witth the owner and he could have almost smirked. He whispered to himself, “Dear Isamu, you are such a heart breaker…” but his smile was not pleasant, he was fully aware of how easily Isamu could have reached the top and led a happy and opulent life but he had been the very reason he could not do so, he had been the deviation that caused him to hit the ground and struggle for countless years to recover and he still basked in remembering those good old days. but today, he was determined to take him back or harm this woman in ways that would sentence Konan’s safety like it had never done before. but he cursed under his breath watching Isamu still standing by the shop, he wished he would just turn away for a moment or something, if he tried anything while he looked at him it would all be futile! He ran a hand through his long silky ebony hair and his dark eyes shone delightfully the moment the older woman left after Hotori paid and eyeing Isamu he watched him enter another shop…bingo…this was indeed his lucky day, he grinned but then decided to be as charming for this lady as he could be. He fixed his attire and hair and then walked slowly looking at her reflection in the mirror, “Fair lady, pray tell which marvellous town you fair from, for your beauty thins brother than a thousand fireflies.” He bowed deeply smiling at her and taking her hand he kissed it softly.
his eyes never left hers as he did so and he straightened himself, “I heard you wanted a nice dress, but I know of a better place where you could get more things for half the price besides I know the owner, she would certainly give you a discount if not for your beauty for the charms of your persona.” He smiled yet his piercing eyes were rather…alluring. He offered her his arm and said, “it is right next to this shop, just turning right, so you would still have the opportunity to be here to meet your lover…”
Yes, he was determined to know just how close these two were, and if that meant playing that old woman’s game then so be it. He was as chivalrous and enjoyable as possible and then he said, “What is your name, my lady, if you do not mind me asking? I am Xang, one of the nobles of this town so, if you ever need anything please let me know.” He saw no one around as they left the shop and moved to the other, “I though your beau was with you? It seems he must have left to fetch something. I will let him know if I see him do not worry…”
As they entered the shop he allowed her to look around the exquisite fabrics and he caressed her cheek gently saying leaning forth as if he were to kiss her but simply state, “I believe scarlet or deep blue would suit you my dear.” He then began looking at the different colours and said silently, “By the way, I would seriously consider no longer going out with someone the likes of him if I were you… He has a terrible reputation… You see… he has blood in his hands, he has been to prison for his crimes and deserted his position as General of Konan years ago. Now, he is a mere wanderer who shies away form the responsibility of the things he did…” he pretended to have a sad face, “and we all had high hopes on him…”
He eyed her curiously wondering what she would say, he smiled down at her and said, “someone like him does not deserve you, fair lady, you could do so much better…”
Isamu asked the shop owner for the teddy bear he had seen at the entrance and he asked him to package it properly since he was going on a long journey, he did not wish to give Hotori the bear yet, he one she was resilient to showing that side of her when in the company of the other seishi and so he thought it was best he waited until later that night or the next day, if she woke up early enough that is. The man smiled at him and packed it to the best of his ability, which was surprisingly, very good! Isamu tipped the man for his generosity and then taking the enveloped teddy bear he placed it under his right arm and walked out of the shop. He took a peek at the tailors shop and was rather estranged not to see Hotori anywhere. The owner, however, was still there and as she finished packing something she waved him to enter the shop. He raised an eyebrow and entered.
“Your lady friend left this when she walked away with that gallant man, is he related to you or something? I dare say you are rather lucky to have found one another… you make a handsome couple.” Isamu raised an eyebrow as he picked the package, “what?” She had told the woman they were… together? He felt a light colour touch his cheeks but it was almost immediately replaced by anger.
“She left with whom exactly?”
The lady smiled at him and then related all she had seen to him. It was then when his heart sunk and then he quickly dashed out of the shop… Ahriman why are you here now?
Hotori blinked in surprise when a man approached her. He spoke flattery, and although she felt a faint blush color her cheeks, she saw no reason not to return the courtesy of his introduction with one of her own. "It is nice to meet you, Xang-san. My name is Hotori, and I'm from the capital." It was the answer she'd been instructed to give when asked where she was from.
“I heard you wanted a nice dress, but I know of a better place where you could get more things for half the price besides I know the owner, she would certainly give you a discount if not for your beauty for the charms of your persona. It is right next to this shop, just turning right, so you would still have the opportunity to be here to meet your lover…”
What was with everyone assuming they were lovers? She never seemed to have this problem with Sei or Haru. "Isamu-kun isn't my...my lover..." She stumbled shyly over that last word. "He's my protector." Surely this man didn't know Isamu was a Seishi, right? So that statement should not lead him to figure out she was the Miko. She hesitated for a moment, unsure as to whether she sould leave the shop. Still, it was just next door, and she could tell Isamu when they exited this shop. With a small smile of agreement, she took his arm and allowed him to lead her out of the shop.
“I thought your beau was with you? It seems he must have left to fetch something. I will let him know if I see him do not worry…”
She looked around, but could not see Isamu. He'd said he'd be right outside. Had something come up that called him away? Still, if Xang said he'd keep an eye out for him, she would trust him to. He seemed so polite and well mannered so far, as any good noble should. She entered the store with him, and began to look over the fabric. She was just admiring a pretty red fabric with gold phoenixes when Xang spoke again.
“By the way, I would seriously consider no longer going out with someone the likes of him if I were you… He has a terrible reputation… You see… he has blood in his hands, he has been to prison for his crimes and deserted his position as General of Konan years ago. Now, he is a mere wanderer who shies away form the responsibility of the things he did…and we all had high hopes on him… Someone like him does not deserve you, fair lady, you could do so much better…”
Hotori's hand dropped from where she'd been admiring the fabric, and she spun to stare up at the man accompanying her. Her eyes flashed with defiance as she processed his words. "Isamu-kun is a kind gentleman, and why I do not know the details of his past, I have every confidence that he did whatever he did because he had no choice in the matter." She took a step away from Xang, suddenly wishing to distance herself. "He is my friend, and I trust him completely. With my life." She crossed her arms and raised her chin, ready to defend her Seishi's reputation. "He may be a private person, but I assure you he takes his responsibilities very seriously."
She cleared her throat. "Thank you for showing me this store, Xang-san, but I believe it is time I returned to the other store. My dress should be ready, and Isamu-kun will be looking for me." And without another word, she turned to leave.
Ahriman was a very intuitive man and rather intelligent and cunning. He examined thoroughly those he conversed with and quickly gathered far more information that he would if he paid a professional to do so. It was obvious this lady here cared a great deal about Isamu and the man smiled coldly, so it seemed he had not lost his touch had he? The Ice Knight could still get others to love him, the irony, and he was not even aware of that. Well, to be fair, Ahriman had always gotten involved so that the man remained a lonely traveler so that he could still suffer, in the cold of night, remember all he did to him, live it once again and die within each and every day. He did not care, he was that manipulative. In fact this lady here was so naive he could easily use her against Isamu and break him. But she did not know that. All she knew was that he was a handsome lord being polite to her and yet he easily got her to disobey the one command Isamu had given her. He chuckled at his antics, it was so amusing. And now, she followed him and trusted him, someone like that would always be a deadly weapon to harm Isamu and whoever she came in contact with. He was so glad he had opted for this little plan, one way or another he was determined to destroy Isamu and this would be the best way, cutting through the very moment another pathetic love bond forms with a lady. He did it once, although, that bond had been deeper-he would do it again...
"It is nice to meet you, Xang-san. My name is Hotori, and I'm from the capital."
He smiled softly, "What a lovely name." Pleased to meet him... she truly had no idea what she had just said at that moment. She had come across Isamu's Nemesis and he would not go away now that he had found someone like her. If she knew better she should have turned away and run away but now she was doomed, of that he was sure. He was so pleased when the accompanied him to the other shop. If this part of the plan failed then he already had more in store for what was to come and in a way he would enjoy himself much more... He loved being cruel and pleasing his own needs.
"Isamu-kun isn't my...my lover... He's my protector."
He smirked inwardly, liar...It is painted in your face lady... He turned to smile at her and said, "Of course, my apologies for the confusion..." he gave a half mocking bow although he did not expect her to realize and kept on showing her fabrics. He loved to test the waters before he got to work, you could say. But also, he wanted to know just how deeply attached this beautiful lady was with that mongrel, it would make the game that much more fun, and he could hardly wait for it to be his turn.
She was silent for a moment, examining the fabrics but, in the mean time, he examined the way she changed, how her face grew serious and it was almost as if she had been offended when Ahriman spoke against Isamu's honour. He could not deny he had expected that reaction, she was on denial but that did not mean she did not feel for this...bodyguard. He looked down at her and smirked, this was too easy... too easy...
"Isamu-kun is a kind gentleman, and why I do not know the details of his past, I have every confidence that he did whatever he did because he had no choice in the matter... He is my friend, and I trust him completely. With my life...He may be a private person, but I assure you he takes his responsibilities very seriously... Thank you for showing me this store, Xang-san, but I believe it is time I returned to the other store. My dress should be ready, and Isamu-kun will be looking for me."
He smirked, excellent it made him happy to know...
He stood on her way and said, "Oh precious you can believe as you like, I just thought it my place to warn you in case you did not know... But forgive me if my words offended you. Now...since you commented you were not entangled with that man there is only one thing I wish to do before you return to your pathetic existence belle..." He slowly walked forth, he wanted to make her feel as uncomfortable as possible, have anyone but the man she loved kiss her virgin lips, torments her to the extent of destroying the Konan religion and power and, more importantly, make Isamu feel defeated for the hundredth time. He caressed her cheek with his hand before he pulled her close to him and his lips claimed hers.
There was also another motif for this... his lips had a substance that would make the other person asleep almost instantly... Killed two birds with one stone. He laughed darkly and then he looked in front of him, the door opened up hastily...
Isamu kicked the door open and sighed when he saw it empty. He began then to look for prints, shoe marks and clues that could lead him to where Ahriman had taken his miko... He felt his heart racing in worry, if only he had not gone to do as he felt before ensuring she was safe awaiting with the other seishi! He face-palmed before he finally turned, he had a thought of where this man could have taken Hotori and he quickly left the shop and ran back to the stables. This was the last straw, Isamu was a man who cared for his customers but more importantly innocent ones like Hotori. This was all his fault, from the very first moment he and Hotori met... she had been endangered due to his well being. He should have sacrificed himself back then, save her all this darkness and despair.He would save her, no mater the price...It was Isamu he wanted right? Well, he won, he would come to him!
Hotori was in a cold and dark room. Her arms and legs spread and extended chained to a damp and wet wall. Her kidnapper patiently waited for her to wake up... There was no light in the room, only darkness, he smiled grimly when he recalled having seen this situation before. "You can't stop me now Isamu... or... can you?"
Hotori should have turned and fled the shop as fast as her feet could carry her. She never should have entered it in the first place, actually, but it was quite easy to know that you shouldn't have done something after it's been done. Still, even though she didn't like what Xang had said about Isamu, he had been polite to her, and so when he began to speak once more, she hesitated to hear what he had to say.
"Oh precious you can believe as you like, I just thought it my place to warn you in case you did not know... But forgive me if my words offended you. Now...since you commented you were not entangled with that man there is only one thing I wish to do before you return to your pathetic existence belle..."
She couldn't understand what he wanted from her. None of it made sense. How could he call her existence pathetic, and call her precious in the same breath. She was too focused on puzzling out this oddity to follow his line of thought until he caressed her cheek. "What...?" And then he was holding her close and kissing her. She recovered from the shock and jerked her head back, opening her mouth to protest, or call for help, or something. Anything. But then she felt a sudden swoon come over her. Had he drugged her somehow? "Isamu...kun..." She managed weakly before the darkness took her over.
There were no pleasant dreams of happy childhood memories, and there was no lovely music to drift peacefully to. The dreams Hotori was facing were dark and cold. She felt alone, and although she could see shadows moving out of the corner of her eyes, she couldn't pinpoint anyone else in the room. She called out for help, first from her aunt and Shouri, and then from Haru, Sei, Washi and Isamu, but try as she might, she could get no response. Part of her knew she was dreaming, and that only made it worse. At least if she was awake, she may be able to find some escape. In this dark dream world, however, she could find none, and no matter how far or fast she ran, nothing seemed to change. She ran until her arms and legs ached, and her head began to throb, and still nothing changed.
And then she woke up, and instantly wished she hadn't. The coldness and darkness were the same as in her dream, but that was the only similarity. Her arms and legs ached, not from running, but because she was chained to a wall. Her limbs were spread as wide as they'd go, and she felt even more exposed, even though she was still fully dressed. Her head rolled slightly, it's ache most likely an after effect of whatever had been used to knock her out. A soft moan escaped her even before she realized she was awake enough to make such a noise, and her mouth felt cottony and dry. She licked her lips and forced her head up to try and see her surroundings. Try as she might, she could make out nothing.
She could hear someone softly breathing somewhere in the room with her, and her instinct was to call out for that person...to know she wasn't alone here after all. "H-hello?" Her voice cracked slightly and she tried to clear her throat. Her voice was still weak. "Is...someone there...?"
Her thoughts caught up with what had happened in the fabric shop, and she instantly wished she'd remained quiet and pretended to still be sleeping. What if it was Xang? It had to be, didn't it? And what if...what if he wished to hurt her? It certainly didn't seem as though he wanted to roll out the welcome wagon, after all. Her chin dropped to her chest once more, and she felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. 'Oh, Isaumu-kun...please find me...' She willed silently, knowing he'd be the only one to even know she'd gone missing.
“Isamu…kun…”
Ahriman’s lips twisted into a dark gesture of disgust when she spoke that man’s name. What made him so wonderful that she had to call out to him as if he were her hero? It was because of him that she was in his predicament, did she forget that already? Or was there something he did not know? Why was she such a devote to Isamu, what was so wonderful about him? He was a coward who had given up everything after he broke down in a dungeon. He broke him…he was the one in charge to torture him and extract information but the man would not yield no matter the means of torture, be it physical or phycological… That man seemed too stubborn and loyal. But no man could last forever in such circumstances. And now, now people seemed to appreciate him once more. It sickened him. Once he was done with his Priestess he would sink into a darkness he would never be able to come back from. He would make sure of that… Oh and the Suzaku no Miko would suffer a dark fate, it was not good to vex Ahriman and this lady surely had. but he would not begin until she was awake, it was more fulfilling to do this when the victims were fully awake and aware of what is being done to them… Even the light of the moon could not reach this forsaken place. It was night time already but not too late yet. It had taken a while to reach this hidden place, but now he would have his fun… And then, Isamu would be next. He already had planned what would happen to both of them, a tragic fate for a tragic couple… He grinned at his own thoughts, he was such a poet…
He heard a moan and felt movement. his eyes slowly and coldly fixed upon her. Yet, he did not move nor utter a single word. the torture was beginning now, with the sense of dread and uncertainty. She did not know where she was, how she got there and who brought her here so that would make her scared which meant he could also lie to her to break her heart even more… He could pretend to have killed Isamu after she passed out and she would never know for he would be done with her before he actually killed Isamu. He grinned darkly and a cold gust of wind shook around them, ye was purely evil. If there was one person who had no goodness left inside… that was Ahriman.
He waited for a long time while she shook in fear and he even watched her cry with no compassion. Oh this was so much fun already! And he was just getting started… She looked for him, she could sense a presence, but she could not see him still.
“H-hello? Is...someone there…?”
She was that desperate eh? She hated being on her own… Oh the ideas he was having now… But first… He laughed darkly but did not reply straight away. He walked in the shadows and spoke, “You thought I did not know who you were Suzaku no Miko? I brought you here as a mere bait to get Isamu to come to me… But I rather say the wait will be long and you will have to keep me entertained if you wish to see him again… that is before you both are dead…”
He laughed darkly and a hand caressed her cheek, dark obsessive eyes looked deeply into hers, “Such delicate features… no wonder he cares so much about you…” he grinned, “not a good thing, you see, that is the reason you will suffer before you die…” He pressed her on the wall suddenly before his hand gently squeezed around her neck. “I’ll have you know that I killed him before I brought you here… no one is coming for you…”
He then lifted her chin harshly for their eyes to meet and he grinned, “Can you imagine… what he would do if he found out you would never be able to full fill your role here? You would be sent back straight away and then what… you would forget about him? would you Hotori? Would you break his heart?” He slapped her face before he stole a hungry kiss from her lips forcing her on the wall once again. He then drew a dagger and began tearing at her clothes slice after slice and leaving but shreds, “If you cooperate it will not hurt… I can be gentle… but… if you resist I will show you a monster…” With that he forced Hotori into a dark act, one that could only be described as the first instances of rape. One word that sounded as harsh as the deed itself…
Isamu had reached the stabbles, packed everything on the horse, paid the stablehand and then urged his horse at full gallop. He was glad he had asked his horse to be ready in case of an emergency. He was a bodyguard after all, he had to always be ready. He knew that being her seishi he could use that ability to find her but, for some reason, it felt almost as if something within him other than his powers and mind, directed him. He could feel her calling his name, he could feel her pain and grief, and somehow he knew where to go. Although, Ahriman was rather cunning and had hid his tracks well enough Isamu was a professional and he could track easily. The mud had not dried too quickly and still offered him information he needed. He would at times jumped off the horse and examine the tracks, smell the air and sense in case those he followed were still traveling but he knew Ahriman would not be that careless. He would take Hotori into a secluded place, a place where no one could find her. He was planning to break her, he cursed under his breath and got on the horse once more, and he galloped as fast as his four-legged friend could go. He did not wish to injure the horse, but he was desperate to reach that forsaken place before Ahriman did harm her. He would never forgive himself if anything happened to her.
He could feel his heart hurt and a sense of dread filled him. Had it begun already? He looked up at the sky that was darker and darker the further he travelled. He broke a free branch, applied a cloth around it and then made a torch that guided him when there was no light left in the horison, “I’m coming Hotori-sama, please hang in there!” He felt the need to utter his thoughts as if they could reach Hotori… He felt he had to let her know that he was almost there, he could feel her closer and closer, not as a seishi but as her bodyguard and… someone who wanted her well being…
Hotori heard someone laugh, although it was far from a happy sound. It made her skin want to crawl right off of her bones. She gave a shiver that had nothing to do with the chill in the air. Whoever this man was, because she doubted the name and background he had told her was anywhere near the truth, he was a truly evil person. She had encountered bandits, and even one of the Fiends, and none of them had left her feeling quite so terrified. Her eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness, and although she still couldn't see clearly, she could now make out his movements in the shadow.
“Such delicate features… no wonder he cares so much about you…not a good thing, you see, that is the reason you will suffer before you die…"
When he touched her, she did her best to pull away from him. She couldn't move much, but she did what she could. When his hand tightened around her neck, she let out a tiny, involuntary gasp of pain. It was in that instance that something dawned on her. This man must be the same one she'd seen fighting with Isamu in the oasis that first day they'd met. He'd worn a hood then, and spoken very little, but that had to be it. She couldn't imagine that Isamu had so many enemies that wished him such a degree of ill-will.
"I’ll have you know that I killed him before I brought you here… no one is coming for you… Can you imagine… what he would do if he found out you would never be able to full fill your role here? You would be sent back straight away and then what… you would forget about him? would you Hotori? Would you break his heart?”
Those words hit her harder than the slap that followed them. If Isamu was dead, no one would be able to come for her. No one else would even know she was missing. And if she were sent back... She thought of all those who would worry for her, would never know what had happened to her. And if Isamu was really dead, it would've been all her fault...all because she didn't listen to him. "No..." She said, just a whisper, and she dropped her chin to her chest once more, feeling the tears that had been stinging her eyes finally start to roll down her cheeks. She felt something go cold inside at the things he suggested, to the point that she barely even noticed when he bean to cut up her clothing. If no one was coming for her, then there was little point in fighting. She would be sent home, after all, even if it wasn't in the manner she'd been hoping for.
“If you cooperate it will not hurt… I can be gentle… but… if you resist I will show you a monster…”
She turned her head as far away as she could manage, and bit her lower lip, hoping things would happen quickly. Hoping he was right, and she would forget. And then, just as suddenly as she had given up, she felt something deep within her flare to life once more. In the same manner that she could sense her Seishi's emotions...somehow, it was almost as though she could sense Isamu's mere being. She suddenly knew he was not dead, and he was coming for her. It was almost as if, wherever he was, he was willing her not to give up.
"No." She said again, her voice stronger this time. She turned her head to face him, and felt a determination she had not felt before, she spoke with such surety. "You lie. Isamu is not dead, and he is coming for me." There was little she could do, chained as she was, but she began to thrash as much as the bonds would let her, hoping that she could stall him long enough for Isamu to arrive. She swung her head, hoping to headbutt him, and chomped in the direction of anything that moved as hard as she cold, hoping to cause this man even some small ounce of pain.
"You must really be afraid of Isamu..." She said, still doing her best to fend him off. She poured every ounce of disgust she felt for this man into her words. "If you're so focused on hurting him. That is just sad."
He grinned when he noticed the effect he had on that pathetic young woman. If Isamu could see this he would fall into the pits of darkness, it was such a great plan he never ceased to amaze himself. He honestly believed there was no one smarter or more handsome than him, Ahriman. The fact that the ladies or even young lads hardly left him alone only fed his already extremely big ego and pretentiousness. Of course he was loyal to his King, he was a General after all, but he longed for the old dark ages where Kutou was dressed in splendour instead of being a neutral and weak country. What was the King thinking? He ran a soft hand through dark locks of hair and his handsomeness made him the more terrifying. Who would ever think that such a man could be so full of malice? He did not think anyone would consider him threatening whenever he hid behind his usual façade and it had worked countless times. He could still remember many of them, and now… he and the priestess of Suzaku at his mercy. He grinned when she shivered at his presence, when she showed the clear fear in her eyes, it was rather alluring. What more could he expect of such a feeble woman? He cared not, any woman would suffice to please him, so long as she was not ugly by his standards and this one… he and to admit she was pretty. And more importantly… Who would have thought he would have his wishes with a beautiful and young miko? Oh yes, he was gong to destroy Isamu and all he protected, be the greatest blow a bodyguard could ever receive to his pride and efforts. He chuckled and then noticed she was watching him now. So it ha taken her hours to get used to the darkness… pathetic.
First he would destroy all the objectives in life Isamu could never ever held and then he would torn his heart to shreds, that organ he so fought to protect, to shield in ice and cold. Well Ahriman could easily break the ice and make him completely miserable once more. He grinned when she tried to move away from his touch, it was rather amusing since she was completely chained to the wall, where would she go like that? And her arms and legs would pay the price, no, she was done for. His face was but mere inches from her own as he whispered darkly, “It is useless… you might as well resign to this fate and live with it… After all, anyone would give anything to be in your place, miko.” So many women had been raped in the past she would not be the first nor the last, especially in Ahriman’s list which was unnaturally long and did not only contempt himself with doing this terrible and treacherous act to women… a dark light shone in his eyes as he pushed his body against hers not only wanting to make her fear him but, also wanting to make her struggle to catch her breath. Now he did say it would not hurt, why, he could be the gentle lover as well. And then rub that on Isamu’s face, how he had pleased his love and made her cry out his name and forget everything about Isamu. Now that would be a fitting way to die for him right? Knowing she had been wooed by his Nemesis. He would die a worm… He smirked.
“No…”
That was exactly the same defeated look he had been hoping for. He grinned as he pressed even more against her in an attempt to emphasise the fact that no one would come for her. She was completely at his mercy. She looked as if she had given up. Her mind was completely in a state of shock form the news he had just given her and would probably remain such for a long time. Enough time for him to enjoy himself. Hotori did not even notice her clothes were being ripped off and she was being exposed to a stranger. Someone who would not earn the right to claim her gift, but would rather take it away from her. That was one of the reasons such act was scandalous for it was one of the greatest treasures a person possessed and were free to grant it to a special someone who earned their appreciation or keep it for as long as they lived. He pulled her hair down for their eyes to meet his hand delighting in the softness of her dark green hair and emerald eyes. His dark eyes were full of hunger and lust. Ahriman was pleased to see Hotori would not put a fight. Good, she heed his warning. He never liked those who would not listen to him and would instead fight, it just unnerved him and he did not deem he would enjoy it as much. Oh yeah, he was too cynical, which was why his real name was feared wherever he went and even amongst his people… no one dared defy him, no one…
She was nervous, he could see that, like most women in her situation, and he grinned, noticing her body tense and she looked away as much as possible. Oh innocent girls were his favouring torture plate. But she would soon become one of those women who would appreciate the experience he possessed on this topic. Men could easily be pleased, but women, you had to know the right way. He pulled her chin harshly and kissed her lips once more, his hands removing the clothing and coming across soft skin. Oh Isamu would be torn to pieces now… once he began he would not stop until it was done and he was fully satisfied… Isamu would be unnerved if he saw him now. His eyes lit up as they opened and looked ardently into her own, but then, as he enjoyed himself he realised that her body tensed up and her eyes flashed, this was not good… She was determined to annoy him then? He could not believe it, if there was no one who would come right on time to save her why make it so hard for him then? He pulled away for a moment, her body still forced against the cold and damp wall.
“No… You lie. Isamu is not dead, and he is coming for me.”
And this was about her precious Isamu once again? And she still had the nerve to deny she had deep feelings for him? He couldn’t believe it… seriously… He laughed darkly but then did not expect the headbutt and he moved away a bit. He placed a hand on his forehead he did feel the pain but it was so little in comparison to what he had experience din the past; in comparison to what he could be doing to her now… He looked darkly into her eyes and chuckled, “Even if he were still alive, he will not arrive on time… no one knows where this place is…” His face retorted in anger now at the sight of her defiance as she spoke against him and remarked how her knight in shining armour would come for her… He raised an eyebrow and then heard her speak again… she dared defy him then?
“You must really be afraid of Isamu… If you're so focused on hurting him. That is just sad.”
His ego and pride received a bit blow and for that she would pay. He was tired of Isamu, tired of hearing him being praised wherever he went and whatever he did, even though he broke him the man still lived… why? Ahriman still remembered his pitiful state and the way he reacted to his advances, oh yeah, back then he did try to seduce and torture Isamu, but he never succeeded and that was another reason he hated him the most. He and been throne person to survive his terror. That was truly unforgivable… He chuckled and said, “you have chosen the monster then…” his eyes darkened even more, “too bad for you…” He ran a finger through her neck and all the way down her arm. The silence was as deadly as his heart at that very moment. And she would suffer greatly for hurting his ego, and more importantly, for not listening to his words. his eyes stared deadly into hers, as if they could poison her from within just by looking at her…
And then…
Without any warming he punched her sternum and then her stomach and slapped her again. “Talk again and I will do have you and over again… until it kills you!” He then smashed her back on the wall not as gentle this time but fiercely and painfully… Claiming her lips once more he was no longer teasing or allowing her to enjoy the kiss and his hands pressed against her form. He did not care what she thought, whenever he set his mind on something, he never failed. His hands snatched aside the last piece of clothing that sheltered her from this hungry wolf. He once more forced his body on hers. He did not care how anymore… but, he would have her!
the thundering sound of hooves could be heard in the distance. A horse would neigh wildly and gasp for air as it rode as full speed among the trees, would jump bushes or logs and would cross streams with no hesitation. The rider leaned forth to aid the horse on the task of moving faster and while riding he whistled and another smaller bird, a blackbird emerged and grasped another message he wished delivered to Haru. It stated where he had to meet them as soon as possible. There was a village on the outskirts of this abandoned place, there was an inn there, he would take Hotori there. So long as she survived this… Isamu rode fast, never looking back, never doubting his instincts and his heart, yes, it was his heart, the heart of the Ice Knight that guided him to where the miko could be held prisoner and he knew she was being hurt. His long dark hair shook alongside his cloak as he rode like a furious god of war. Sensing Hotori’s distress he felt impotent, but alas, he could not let that feeling govern what he did or though. He had to find her. He cursed under his breath as he urged the horse to move faster and faster, and a dark mist surrounded them. He grinned, so this man had the help of mages now? What had he promised them to make them abide to his wishes? If he were them he would think it twice before he actually heard what he promised. He usually lied…
It was not surprising thought, right?
Isamu began to realise the horse was starting to tire and so was he. It had been such a long ride. He sighed and then made the horse come to a halt. He looked for a safe shelter and spoke to it, it was meant to hide in a cave. He did not tie the reins just so that it could escape should danger come its way. You could say Isamu always looked at the future, at what could happen, and then think about solutions without stressing. Keeping his nerves in check even at dangerous circumstances. that was one of his best skills. And now, he needed to think and act instead of giving in to despair. He noticed something strange though… as he looked up at what looked like a small grotto he heard voices and seemed to sense the warmth of a fire. He extinguished his forth and then slowly made his way, like a shadow at night, and approached the whispers and noises… “I have you now Ahriman” he whispered as he moved forth.
Now, Ahriman was too busy giving in to anger and forcing his way on Hotori, laughing at her that he did not consider his enemy could be closely because suddenly there was no more sound outside, his guars did not give sign of being on duty anymore…He still had to remove his clothing, his hands pressed on her bottom and were about to take off into hurting the sweet miko in ways that could no longer be undone when he suddenly stopped. He did not look behind him nor did his eyes move away from Hotori’s, no, but he groaned in anger. He felt the tip of a cold blade, an ice blade. Rin… it had to be that sword… he had felt it before… the warm feeling of blood oozing form a wound caught his nose as he realised that the blade had cut on his neck slightly as if to make a point. Isamu was standing right behind him, his hand holding his blade at Ahriman’s neck and his deep amber eyes burning with anger and rage the colour of volcanic magma itself. He gritted his teeth and said coldly, “Step aside…”
Even Ahriman shivered lightly at how dark and cold Isamu’s voice sounded. He eyed Hotori as if to threaten her that he had not finished with her yet and then he slowly moved away from her. He move din the direction Isamu forced him to, which was to the right, toward the light in the room and as far away form Hotori as possible. yet the dark man could no longer bother Hotori, for no sooner had he stepped aside, had Isamu quickly moved to stand between Ahriman and Hotori. The anger still burning in his eyes. “You… monster…” He took one step forth, his blade still pointing at Ahriman’s body defiantly, “you wanted me… that is why you have done all this cruelty you scum… well, here I am now…” his cloak and hair shook with the wind blowing into the dungeon as he spoke more assuredly now, “I have come to spare an innocent life form your malicious poison and to make justice for the crimes you committed… you deserve no mercy… Have at thee!”
Isamu leapt forth and Ahriman with one swift movement tok out his great axe and parried the blow. Their angered eyes met and burned and both gritted their teeth. The wind played with long black and ebony hair, yet the two men focused only on the battle at hand… Isamu was truly worried about Hotori and hoped he had arrive don time, but he could not let this distract him, he had to face his enemy and only once he was down, then he would tend to his miko's needs.
