Please read all the rules, and PM Hotori, Isamu, or Shian with any questions. Although these are subject to change, note that Admins will only amend them with good reason or in the event of extenuating circumstances. If you find yourself in either a gray area concerning the rules or in direct violation of them (but feel you have a good reason), contact one of the Admins and we will hear your side of the story and make a decision from there.
OOC Rules:
1. Be respectful and open-minded to other members of the forum. Differences of opinion are allowed, but try to keep comments respectful, constructive and friendly. If you have a serious problem with something another member posted, including Staff, contact Hotori, Shian, or Isamu, and one of us will do our best to help resolve the issue.
2. There is a distinct difference between the things that Staff say as their personal opinion, and what they say as a representative of the site. If you have a problem with something a member of Staff has said as their personal opinion, the aforementioned rule applies, and you are expected to address it respectfully. If you disagree with a decision made by a member of Staff as a representative of the site, and do not feel that they will listen to your reasoning, please contact one of the top three Admin and explain the situation. We will do our best to resolve it in a way that best benefits the entirety of the site.
3. Cursing is allowed, but only in moderation. We do have underage members to consider.
4. We are always open to suggestions on how to improve the site. There is a dedicated board here. Please glance over other suggestions to make sure yours does not repeat something that has already been posted. If you are worried your idea is similar to someone else's, but does have one or more major differences, comment on the existing thread with your suggested alterations. As always, you are also welcome to PM Hotori, Isamu or Shian with suggestions if you do not feel comfortable with making them openly.
5. Have fun. That is what we are all here for, and if you are not having fun, we, as your Admin, are not doing our jobs properly.
6. As this is a writer’s forum where stories need to be set into motion in order to ensure all members enjoy their time in the form, activity checks will be carried out on a monthly basis, where members are required to post in the thread to state they are still active. The accounts of any inactive members will be closed.
IC Rules:
1. Be Literate and make sure to spell-check your written text before posting it. Posts need to be at least six lines long as this helps in the development of literary and creativity skills and understanding of the importance of description and how it helps other writers respond to an RPG thread. No "text talk", and make sure the language usage matches the setting and circumstances.
2. Be respectful to another player’s wishes regarding their characters and plots. If you have something in mind you want to use, suggest it to them. Furthermore, there is a board section here where members can post their plotters in order to plan stories with other members and discuss anything relevant to their characters.
3. Absolutely no god-modding. God-modding consists of making a character that is absolutely invincible for little to no reason. Powers must have limits, and make sense within the world of the book.
4. 'Mary-Sues' and 'Gary-Stues' are also a big no-no on this forum. Give your characters faults and weaknesses. Make them realistic and relatable. It's more fun that way.
5. Do not control characters that are not your own unless given permission.
6. If you are going to be absent for any period of time, you must post here in order to notify us and you can also inform a member of Staff. With regard to RPG posting, please consider the following:
6.1 After you post, give everyone a chance to post in a thread before you do so again. If a posting order is established (which can be arranged in the plotter thread or as a brief OOC comment at the very beginning of the thread), please follow it.
6.2 If you are on a thread with more than two players, and it's your turn, you have three (3) days to post, if not the other members of the thread can skip your turn and move on without you. You will be able to post when your turn comes up again. HOWEVER if you miss two (2) turns in a row, OR 3 turns total within the same thread, without logging in to contact Hotori, Isamu or Shian, we will assume you are MIA (missing in action), and the other members of the thread can continue without you without any further waiting periods. If a player loses their place in a group thread due to this sort of issue, there must be a unanimous vote by all remaining thread participants to permit the excluded player to rejoin the same thread. The aim of this is to keep a thread from staying inactive for too long at a time, which would result in making all other participants wait.
6.2.a Repeated instances of missing the 3 day posting window for group threads, even with notification of admin, are subject to review by the admin team. We understand that sometimes life happens, but if you are notifying admin that you need an extension every time it is your turn to post, then it effectively defeats the intention of the 3 day window. A player may request no more than a total of 3 days per group thread before they forfeit their place in the posting order. These 3 days can be taken individually (3 extensions of 1 day each) or collectively (1 extension of 3 days, 1 extension of 2 days AND 1 extension of 1 day, etc). *Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the admin team for serious personal or family illness/injury. If this request is determined by the admin team to be legitimate, all members involved in the thread will be notified of the decision, though any personal/private information about the qualifying illness/injury will be kept private.*
* Please ensure you add this rules code to your character application: White Tiger
7. Romance and violence are both allowed, however please don't post any adult material. Likewise, the rule about cursing applies to characters as well. Moderate language is allowed, but please don't be excessive. As mentioned before, we have underage members.
8. If you have something to say to the other player that has nothing to do with the roleplay at hand, make sure it's kept separate from the in-character post. That is, this should be mainly discussed in the member plotter threads or General Board in order to keep the RPG text neat and avoid any possible confusion. OOC comments may be posted if brief. For any other means of communication related to the RP or plot should be handled in the plotting board. Furthermore anything non-RPG related shall be discussed in the General board, shoutbox or in a PM.
Character Creation Rules:
1. You are allowed to take on as many characters as you think your sanity can handle. Characters created must have a purpose in mind and also remain active for the further development of the story and co-written threads with other members.
2. Upon creating an account, members should ensure to start working on their character’s application form as soon as possible. Failure to do so, unless Hotori, Isamu or Shian have been notified of possible absence or inability to do so within the first 5 days or opening the account, shall result in the account being closed. This does not mean they have to be fully fleshed out that quickly, but we should see definitive, consistent progress on a character application.
3. All characters may be played on one account OR you may create a separate account for each character you play. It depends on whichever you are most comfortable with, but if you have separate accounts, please designate one of them as your primary account so that people know which one to contact to most quickly reach you, should the need arise.
4. You can play a Miko as well as a Main God, so long as it isn't her God.
5. You may play up to TWO (2) Miko, but you may not play more than one Main God without personal approval from Hotori. Furthermore, with regard to creating important and canon characters such as the gods themselves (Suzaku, Seriyuu, Genbu and Byakko), a member must be active for four (4) months, RPG with other members and within the main plot for the group the character/characters belong in, as well as General board conversations and interacting with other members of the forum. Then the question needs to be posed again to Hotori, Isamu or Shian.
6. You can play both a Main God and a Fiend, so long as they are not from the same set. For example, If you play Chaos, you can't play Suzaku. If you are Gluttony, you cannot play Byakko, etc., If you don't know what 'set' you're in, ask.
7. You may have characters fill more than one role, for example a Seishi who is also royalty, so long as it is within reason/seems plausible.
8. Once accepted, members are advised to put a small disclaimer text on their profiles in the event of their characters being originally created for copyright purposes.
9. Members may include a face claim in their character application, it is optional, however, this will help other members to have a better idea of what the character looks like and in the event of wanting any graphics done, it should make finding images easier.
10. Any member of Staff can approve character bios, UNLESS it is their character.
12. It is okay for characters to have amnesia, or for their powers to be as of yet undiscovered, or other things like this. However, these characters still need to have their histories written out in their application, and their powers still need to be listed in their application, unless you have prior authorization from one of the top Admin.
