Name: Ryouku Isogaishi (Seishi name: Arata)
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Position: Seishi, Kutou General
Symbol and location: Ryou has the symbol 'High Spirits' located in the center of his chest.
Power:
Charming: Ryou has the power to charm others with his voice, allowing him to give orders and have them followed. He does not like to overuse this, though, as he likes to let others exert their own free will. He will use it in battle, however, if he has no other way to stop an enemy from attacking him.
Strength: Ryou is extremely strong, able to lift massively heavy items with ease. He sometimes likes to show off this ability to impress ladies, lifting the sofa they are seated on with one hand, or something of the like. He has learned how much strength to exert, and when.
Speed: In addition to his superhuman strength, he also has superhuman speed. He is able to move faster than the eye can see, but only for short bursts of time, which gives the impression that he can teleport. He is able to move at a slightly slower speed for longer periods, though it is still obvious he is quite fast.
Weapon: Although skilled with many different weapons, Ryou mainly uses a katana or a chain scythe, both of which he carries on his belt. His sword to his left, and the chain scythe to the right.
Birthplace: The capital city of Kutou.
Affiliation: Seriyuu, Kutou Empire
Appearance:
Image.
Ryou has long, medium blue hair that come to his mid back, though he always keeps it pulled back when in battle. His eyes are gray, and can vary in intensity from a very light when happy or amused to a very dark, stormy color when feeling angry or intense. He is just under 6' tall, and is quite strong from years of training and battle, even without his seishi ability. He has surprisingly few scars for a warrior, and those he does have are small and barely noticeable. His biggest distinguishing feature is the tattoo of a blue eastern dragon that stretches across his back near the top, just under his shoulders. It represents both his status as a Seriyuu Seishi, and his devotion to the Kutou Empire and it's ruling family. He has very expressive eyes and an easy smile. He is quite handsome, and knows it, but doesn't let it get to his head too much. He knows looks are not the only important things in life.
His usual manner of dress when not in battle or paroling is simple but elegant. He dresses in boots, black trousers, and finely made shirts and vests, usually dark blue, black, or dark gray, but he is also known to wear just about any color that looks good on him. He is always armed, just in case, and when traveling, but not on duty, wears a heavy, well made cloak of black with a dark blue silk lining.
When he is 'on duty', he dresses in the usual Kutou Imperial Army uniform, wearing boots, black trousers, a white shirt, silver colored metal armor over his chest, shoulders, arms, and legs. He also has a helmet made of the same metal that vaguely resembles a dragon head, but he rarely wears it unless absolutely necessary. The outfit also includes a thick, dark blue cloak with the emblem of a silver dragon on the back. He also wears sturdy leather gloves.
Personality:
Ryou is quite the playboy, and has a long-running reputation as a Casanova. He has had many lovers in the past, both among the nobility and among the lower classes, but he has never been the sort to even consider settling down. He enjoys the chase, as it were, and the physical enjoyment, but he has yet to meet a woman who really steals his heart, and doubts he ever will. He is not heartless, however, and does his best to make sure women know he has no intentions of marriage or anything of the sort before he pursues a relationship with them. He does feel bad when he breaks hearts, but he feels he's warned them well in advance and they should not get their hopes up that there will be more to the relationship than there is. He never forces himself on a lady, however, and would never use his ability to charm to win a woman over. He thinks men who force themselves on a lady are deplorable, and he will not tolerate knowing of such behavior.
Despite his reputation, he is quite devoted to his role as a General of the Kutou Army, and to the Royal Family. He respects Shun as his Emperor and Leader, and unlike some of the others, is not bothered in the least by taking orders from someone younger than him. He also respects Shun's mother, though she holds no official title, and his sisters the Princesses, and while he will flirt with all three, he would never attempt anything with them, out of respect for them. This is perhaps the only reason Shun hasn't threatened him for flirting.
He is also a very gentle, compassionate person, He cares deeply for others, which is the reason he tries to make his intentions clear from the beginning. He wishes to bring others pleasure, in whatever form possible, and not pain of any sort. He is very loyal to his friends and family, and is protective of those he loves, but none more than Kaoru. He tries to make up for the fact that he was not there for her and her mother when she was born, and still feels guilt over it.
He is quite fierce on the battlefield, but is able to think clearly and make rapid, rational decisions. He rarely lets his emotions control him when in battle, and tries to figure out the best overall outcome, regardless of his personal feelings about it.
In general, he is a cheerful, teasing sort of person. An easy flirt, and quite charming, but not at all vain or narcissistic. He is respectful of those he feels deserve it, including his older brother, his fellow Seishi, the royal family, and women in general. He believes a man should be honorable and honest, and he cannot stand corruption of any sort, especially within the ranks of the Kutou Army.
History: Ryou was born the second son of one of Shun's father's advisers, and as such, he and his siblings were raised in close proximity to the royal family. His older brother, Kei, took his fathers position as an adviser when Shun took the throne.
When Ryou was only five years old, he was playing with his sister Kyouko, who was two, in the woods near the palace. A heavy tree fell, and would've struck the toddler, but the symbol 'High Spirits' began to glow on the center of his chest, as he ran forward, faster than eyes could follow, and caught the tree. It would've been far too heavy for a normal child, but Ryou was able to lift it easily, and toss it aside, thus protecting his sister. It was not until he was much older that he discovered his other ability.
From a very young age, Ryou knew he wished to join the army, and to protect the people of Kutou, and so he trained with that in mind, even sparing with Shun and Kiran, and the other men who trained for positions of power. He excelled at his training, and though some older soldiers claimed he was granted special favors because of his friendship with Shun, those who saw him in action knew that he had warned every title he'd been given.
He took his job seriously, but he also took his fun seriously. He realized at the tender age of sixteen that he was already quite handsome and charming. He went to a brothel to learn the tricks of lovemaking, and like everything else he tried, he excelled at it. This began his long string of lovers, both ladies of class and more common women have enjoyed his affections over the past ten years. Having younger sisters, however, he did make it a point to try and lessen the blow for the women he was with. He tried to not only make sure it was indeed what they wanted, but also to make it as pleasurable an experience for them as possible. He also made it clear that he was not the sort to fall in love, and though he still left some broken hearts, he felt he had done his best to warn them in advance that there was no other way it could've ended.
Having always been the friendly sort, he made many friends while growing up, and even among his former lovers, is often remembered fondly. Once he became a general in the army, he began to travel more as an escort to both ambassadors like Fumiko, and the princesses Liru and Lisu. He enjoys the chance to travel with those ladies, as he's fond of them all, and sees them all as sisters...not that it stops him from flirting on occasion.
Though he has been a General for two years, he has already proven to take his job seriously, and to follow orders without question. He has a strong hatred for corruption, which has led to a dislike of an older general, Ashram, though he hasn't gone to Shun about this dislike yet, as he hasn't been able to find proof of his corruption. It's also caused him to dislike certain nobles who may have a string of lovers like himself, but who are not as kind or gentle with them.
When he was twenty two, he was on his way back to the capital when he stopped at an inn. He shared an intimate night with one of the barmaids, and both agreed that they didn't want anything long term, and parted on very good terms. That was the last he saw of the woman, named Mina. Nearly two years later, another barmaid came to the palace with a small child in her arms. She explained that Mina had given birth to Ryou's child, but had not informed him because she didn't wish to seem like she was using her child to get money or support from him. She also explained Mina had fallen ill and died, and her last request had been to bring the child, Kaoru, to her father. Ryou could tell, just from looking at the girl, that she was his, and he took her in and loved her instantly. Kaoru is now three, and has won the hearts of all at the palace. Ryou loves her dearly, and does the best he can for her, even dialing back his womanizing ways some in order to set a better example and spend more of his free time with Kaoru. He has yet to stop completely though.
