The Shinzaho are special artifacts worn by the Miko of each God during the summoning. Originally, Taiitsukun had intended for a special scroll to be burned in order to summon the God, but after the first summoning of each God, these scrolls were lost, never to be recreated.
When the need to summon the Gods arose once more, Taiitsukun decided that replacement artifacts were needed. These artifacts allowed the Miko to summon her God without the scroll, and without the presence of all of her Seishi. Each Miko must gather the four items of the summonings before her, and once the summoning is complete, must select one item on her person to replace one of the artifacts she used.
There is one Shinzaho located in the territory of each of the Four Gods, guarded by someone connected to either the Seishi of The Miko that owned it, the Miko herself, or otherwise connected to the God.
The Shinzaho Of Suzaku:
The Shinzaho of Suzaku belonged to Etsuko, the sixteen-year-old girl that served as the previous Suzaku no Miko. It is an ornate pair of jeweled chopsticks the youth recieved as a present from one of her Seishi, whom she had loved but, like those before her, could not be with. The chopsticks, which the Miko had worn in her hair, are gold with elegant ruby flowers on their tips. The exact location of this Shinzaho is unknown, although it is rumored that they have been entrusted to a family of loyal Suzaku followers for safekeeping until they are needed once more.
The Shinzaho Of Seriyuu:
The Shinzaho of Seriyuu belonged to the youngest Miko ever to be summoned to the Universe Of The Four Gods. Honoka, the previous Seriyuu no Miko, had only been eleven-years-old, and had barely been old enough to comprehend what her choice to serve as the Miko truly meant at the time. She had favored a set of jeweled combs, gold with sapphire decorations, that belonged to one of her Seishi. The combs were gifted to her, and seemed a logical choice to serve as her Shinzaho. Due to a terrible war that was going on at the time, all seven of Honoka's Seishi perished just before the summoning could take place. The exact location of the Shinzaho is unknown, but it is rumored that, unlike the other three, it is protected by two of the spirits of Honoka's fallen Seishi in a shrine of sorts somewhere in Kutou. These spirits are unable to move on until they pass the Shinzaho on to the new Seriyuu no Miko.
The Shinzaho Of Genbu:
The Shinzaho of Genbu belonged to the previous Genbu no Miko, a fifteen-year-old girl by the name of Shinako. It was a bracelet given to her by the elderly Empress of Hokkan at the time of her arrival, as a thank you for saving the wintery land. The bracelet is a silver cuff-style with beautiful dark green, black and white gemstones cut into the shape of tortoises. It's exact location is unknown, but it is rumored to have been passed down through the family of one of Shinako's Seishi, to be safeguarded until it was needed once more.
The Shinzaho Of Byakko:
The Shinzaho of Byakko belonged to the previous Byakko no Miko, Arinata, a sixteen-year-old. The Shinzaho was given to her by the leader of a poor village, who explained that they had formed the necklace, and kept it safe over the years to give to the Byakko no Miko as a symbol of their hope that she would make life better, not just for them, but for all of Sailo's inhabitants. It is a simple silver pendant with a single yellow Tiger's Eye gem. It's exact location is unknown, but it has been rumored that Byakko himself entrusted it to someone he thought worthy enough to protect it until the time came that it was needed once more.
The respective guardians of the Four Shinzaho have been granted some measure of power to protect the artifact until it is safely within the possession of the new Miko of each God. They have also been warned to be wary of girls who show up, falsely claiming to be the new Miko. Many of them have developed some sort of test or trial to test those who seek their Shinzaho, although it varies from guardian to guardian.
((The positions of the guardians of the Shinzaho, unless someone wants to take them on as playable characters, will most likely be NPCs that will only show up during the respective Shinzaho subplots. I will most likely play any guardians needed, unless someone else just really wants to. The only one not 'up for grabs' as it were is the Byakko guardian, as I have some small plans in mind already. Otherwise, if you're interested in either playing one or more guardian as either an NPC or PC, please PM me and let me know. We can work out the details that way. ~Hotori))
