There are a few terms used on this board from the Japanese language that new fansof the series or new members unfamiliar with the series might run into on this board.
Besides the Japanese names of the four gods Suzaku, Seiryuu, Genbu, and Byakko, there are terms used many times in the series and interchangeably on the board.
1. Miko: The english equivalent of 'miko' is priestess. A girl who has a strong connection in the divine workings of a god. The mikos' jobs in Fushigi Yuugi is to summon the god after finding all seven warriors chosen to protect her.
2. ____ no miko: The Japanese form of the possessive is to place the name of the possessor in front of the word 'no' and then add what is being possessed. In the Fushigi Yuugi series, 'Suzaku no miko' or 'Seiryuu no miko' are used over and over again to refer to the specific priestesses. This can also be applied to the warriors such as 'Suzaku no shichiseishi'.
3. Shichiseishi: Literally meaning 'Seven Warriors', this term is used to refer to the seven warriors selected to protect the priestess of their respective god. In English translations, this term is translated to 'Seven Celestial Warriors' because each warrior has a constellation linked to their power and their name.
4. Seishi: Is simply a shortened version of 'shichiseishi' as it is easier to type.
