Name: Kogaku (Seishi name) Aikano Sakkaku (real name)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Position: Seishi
Symbol and location: 'Ghost', located on his left cheek.
Power:
Hypnotic Song: He is able to hypnotize people by singing/humming. Once hypnotized, they are under his control until the trance is broken, either by the victim (which is difficult) or by him. Sometimes it can be broken by others, but this is almost as difficult as when the victim tries.
Lullaby: An off-shoot of his hypnotism ability, he can sing a song that puts others to sleep. He can either put all, besides himself, to sleep with it, or he can select specific targets, and only they will sleep while the rest remain awake.
Illusion: When he plays a small instrument, usually a flute, he is able to hone his hypnosis into a sort of illusion. Not only controlling their thoughts and actions, but also making it so that he can make them feel they are somewhere else or they see or hear things that are not really there. Like his hypnosis, his illusions are usually broken when he stops playing, but are difficult to stop before then.
Telepathy: Not as strong as his other abilities, but still one he can use and has practiced. He's learned that if he focuses on a person, he can communicate with them. It is useful whenever he needs to send a quick message to someone, and it seems to work over a distance, but as it is not his strongest ability, the closer the person is, the easier it is for him to contact them.
Weapon: Aikano has a long sword and a short sword which he wears at his belt, as well as a spear he straps to his back. He is well versed in all three, but he has a preference for the swords.
Birthplace: A small village in Konan.
Affiliation: Suzaku
Appearance:
Aikano has long, straight sandy blond hair that reaches his waist when loose, though he usually uses a white ribbon to tie it up into a high ponytail to keep it out of his way. His eyes are a golden yellow color, and seem to glow faintly when he is using his powers. He stands at an even 6'0”, and has a fit, thin build, though he's not overly skinny. He is strong, perhaps more so than people think at first.
His usual manner of dress is comfortable and practical. He most often wears black boots and trousers and a dark blue tunic or shirt. He wears a black belt which holds both swords, as well as a small pouch containing his flute.
Personality:
Aikano is very cheerful and laid back, usually trying not to let anything ruin his ever-present good mood. He's friendly, and a bit bold, always willing to make the first move when it comes to making a new friend. He has a very teasing personality, and enjoys laughing. He knows many consider him quite charming, but he isn't the sort to use this to feed his own ego.
Having as many younger siblings as he does, he believes strongly in taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves, and in helping those who need it. He is protective by nature and has a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong, always standing for what he thinks is right. He can be a little impulsive, however, not always thinking his actions through. If he sees a need to act, he does, and figures he can sort out the consequences later.
He is not afraid of hard work, and values those who aren't afraid to work hard to earn the things in their life. He is neither overly trusting nor overly hostile, instead relying on his gut feeling toward a person when deciding if they can be trusted. His gut feeling is almost never wrong. Once his friendship is earned, it is hard to lose.
History:
Born in a small village to a widely loved blacksmith and his seamstress wife, Aikano was the oldest of a set of fraternal twins, his brother Renji just a few moments younger, though he differed greatly in both appearance and personality. The pair were soon followed by more siblings, until the modest home was filled with a grand total of ten children.
As soon as he was old enough, Aikano began to practice swordsmanship, hoping to grow up and protect his ever-growing family. He also, from a young age, learned to help his father in the smithy and to help his mother with the younger children, often playing with them and singing to them. Renji also learned to work the smithy, but otherwise had more bookish interests, opting to fill the role of his siblings' tutor where as Aikano was their playmate.
When he was ten years old, his mother was having trouble getting the younger children to take a nap. Aikano tried to help by singing to them, silently willing them to rest. The symbol 'Ghost' began to glow on left cheek, and the children peacefully drifted off to sleep. HE was stunned, and began to test out his new-found abilities, usually using his brother Renji for practice, whether or not Renji consented.
That same year, his father gave him a flute, since he enjoyed music so much. That was when he discovered his second ability, which allowed him to create illusions.
When he was sixteen, he realized their family would need more income than his parents' jobs provided. With that thought in mind, Renji began to tutor local children for money, but Aikano wanted to set out and do something that would really make a difference. He bid his family farewell, promising to return to visit with whatever he earned on a regular basis, and set out to earn what he could. He would do assorted odd jobs, including working as a bodyguard when needed, and sometimes playing his flute or singing for crowds in exchange for coin. He would rarely stay in an inn, and would hunt or fish for his food in order to save as much money as he could to send back to his family.
Thus has been the way of life for him for the last three years. He knows he is a Seishi, and will one day have to fulfill his duty and protect the Miko. He's keeping an eye out for her, but his primary concern is still making sure his family is taken care of.
Important NPCs:
Parents: Mother Kana is a seamstress and father Aizou runs a smithy. Both are happy, supportive parents who want the best for their large family. Though the family is not rich, they are not on the verge of starvation either, and both do their best to keep their children happy but humble.
Younger siblings: Not counting his twin brother, Aikano has eight younger siblings. The next oldest is his sister Shouka (16), then his brother Kou(12), followed by twin sisters Mei and Mai (10), then brothers Ken (8), Sho (6) and Kei (3), and finally his youngest sister Hinata who is only a year old.
Renji: Aikano's twin brother, though they're not identical in either appearance or personality. More quiet and bookish, he's often considered the 'stern' big brother, as apposed to Aikano being the 'fun' one. He's teased quite a bit by Aikano, but the pair are close and care for each other in their own strange way.
Haji: A mutt of a dog that Aikano found during his travels. He's adopted Aikano, and is Lully at his side wherever he goes. He loves when Aikano returns home to visit his family, as he loves playing with the kids, but he's always ready to go whenever his master is.
