DON'T JUDGE ME
appearance: Built tall but light, 6’2” with most of the height being in the legs. He is covered in long, lean muscle, stronger and faster than a man of his size looks like he should be. Hair is deep black, worn long, but kept tightly bound in a braid when in combat. His good eye (on the left) is a steely silver, set in pale skin and oddly delicate-looking features. Its mate on the right is a darker, cloudier gray, and entirely sightless. It does look a little peculiar, in that the gaze of that eye tends to wander, not having sight to help him fix upon a given point. The face particularly is built along slim, angular lines. His typical garb includes a uniform indicating his allegiance to Zhang Ji, complete with a seal on one soldier of a rampant hawk on a gold background, indicating both his rank, and his nickname.

But no matter the occasion, whether casual or formal, he wears a black and silver necklace, given to him by a young Haruhi as a bracelet, when they were young. It is the only physical remnant he has of his forgotten past - he has no memory before the age of ten. But he has retained the bracelet, had had the jewelry crafters of his master rework it into a neckpiece that is suitable for his age. It is often commented that this is too plain a piece of ornament for someone of his ranking, but he refuses to give it up.

EVERYTHING'S INSIDE
powers: He is a kitsune. As such he has the following abilities (though he is not yet aware that he does - see history):

Shapeshifting - The ability to transform into any natural shape, to include animals or people. This can be a complete or partial transformation, and he is also capable of assuming shapes that are combinations of natural creatures: i.e. a man with the head of a cat and bird wings, etc. However, no matter what shape he assumes, his useless eye remains useless. The more complex the transformation, the more energy it takes to enact the change, but once the change is made, it does not take any energy to maintain. While in the form of animals, he takes on all of their natural abilities, i.e. as a bird, he can fly, as a fish, he can swim, etc. When in a hybrid form, he gains only the ability of the part of the animal he is currently embodying - i.e. if he currently has fox ears, he has enhanced fox hearing, but not enhanced fox scenting abilities.

Shadowmelding - not complete invisibility, but rather the ability to call shadows to himself, and sink into them, such that he is invisible to all but the keenest eyes. Contrarily, he can banish all shadow, thus illuminating a space to its greatest potential. He cannot increase the amount of light that exists, but in removing the shadow, a space seems brighter.

Elemental: Plant control, from the tiniest blade of grass to the tallest tree, he can cause them to grow, shrink, wither, gain strength, or even assume a temporary animation of their own to fight for him. However, any plants that are brought to animation are controlled only for a brief period of time, and will instantly cease function should he be rendered unconscious/otherwise unable to control them. This also includes a limited ability to communicate with plants - though it cannot be equated to “talking” - and the fact that in kitsune form, his every step creates a trailing path of small flowers.

Ability to sense kitsune - through scent or aura, or some feeling that he cannot understand, he is able to sense nearby kitsune, within a mile of his current location.
abilities: Beyond a mastery of the arts of war, which is basically obligatory to become a general, Taka has led a fairly cultured life, essentially raised as man of noble blood, though not royal. As such, he is decently versed in gentlemanly pursuits such as horseback riding, polite conversation, and other common personal deportment skills - like dancing. He can speak several languages, including both Chinese and Japanese, and a couple of local dialects, and alsos read quite fluently, and after he lost the vision of his right eye due to a hunting accident, he developed a love for both poetry and prose, whilst he was convalescing. His depth perception is somewhat impacted by the loss of his eyesight on that side, but his vast experience as well as a keen mind help him to compensate for it, somewhat.
weapons: Well versed in all weapons as a necessity, but he most favors a traditional sword, as he is more inclined toward melee than ranged combat. He can wield either one or two at a time, and usually carries two on his person at all times, as well as several knives intended for closer quarters in combat. These knives are cleverly concealed on his person, and carried even when the need arises for him to be present for a formal occasion, though he usually forgoes the swords for social occasions. So despite the fact that he may not look it, he is always armed in some capacity, openly or otherwise.
strengths: Slightly enhanced speed/endurance/agility - in human form, he can move a little faster for a little longer than most other men his size and build. He is also lighter footed than one would expect, and steady on his feet.
Loyalty: strength - He bonds tightly to trusted figures, and is intensely loyal and protective.

weaknesses: Loyalty: weakness - once bonded to a trusted figure, he is slow to see if that figure’s intention are pure, or potentially harmful to himself. He is easily manipulated by these trusted figures.

personality: He has three levels of social functioning: one formal, soft-spoken, and well bred for formal occasions and polite society, one more casual (a bit more raucous, but still dignified) that is used for friends and acquaintances… and the third, a private, nerdy and slightly goofy side that loves to read and laugh, and secretly likes both roughhousing and dancing. As far as he is aware, the only living creature to see this third facet is a little fox kit, which he found only recently on a hunt. The little thing had a broken leg, and despite the mild but firmly-spoken disapproval of Zhang Ji, he is currently in the process of tending it until the leg heals. He tends to call the little fellow simply “Kit”.

important.NPCs: Zhang Ji - Daimyo in the area of Sailo where Haruhi's clan currently reside. He is Taka’s Lord and Master, and the holder of Taka’s kitsune ball. He has used the ball to wipe Taka’s memory before the age of 10, seal his kitsune powers, and keep the young man under his complete control. [Masamune Date from “Brave 10”)

history: Taka has no memory before the age of ten, but has been led to believe that he was born and raised in the service of Zhang Ji. He is also completely unaware that he is, in fact, a kitsune.

In truth, he was separated from his parents at the tender age of nine, shortly after encountering a young Haruhi, who presented him with his cherished bracelet. Like her family, his attempted to flee when strange soldiers began hunting down kitsune… but unlike Haruhi and her parents, they never made it to the safety of Sailo. They were captured by a group by Zhang Ji’s soldiers and, not wanting to have to be bothered breaking the spirit of older, stronger-willed kitsune, Zhang Ji ordered Taka’s parents killed, and retained the son, using a heavy dose of kitsune ball mindcontrol and old-fashioned brain washing to convince the boy that he was human, and had been born and raised in Zhang Ji’s service. Since then, Zhang Ji has taken advantage of Taka’s unacknowledged ability to sense nearby kitsune, turning him into the most effective kitsune tracker and killer of the known world, and promoting him to General for his efforts.
