Nakade is tall, standing at 6’5”, and has a broad, strong build. He has well toned muscles from a lifetime of hard work, and has collected a few scars here and there over the ears. He has short black hair that hangs to about his ears. He tends to keep it cut short in the back, but allows the bangs to grow out longer, hanging down past his eyes. His eyes are a bright, clear blue and often showcase his inner intelligence.. His usual manner of dress depends on what he is doing. If he is working at the got springs, he tends to wear a Yukata or some other traditional looking outfit. If he is just hanging out with the kids he looks after, he dresses in jeans and a shirt. Once he is in the book, he will favor a dark blue and black yukata with black boots and a dark blue belt. He will also have a simple black bag to carry his things, and a katana which he wears on his belt along with a small medical bag stocked with herbal remedies.
In his demon form, He has short reddish-brown hair, red-orange eyes that look like liquid fire, and horns on either side of his head that start behind his ears and curve up and over like bull horns. They start out red at his scalp and then fade into orange and finally into whie at the tips. Although he does not yet know it, he is the reincarnation of the demon lord Gaikotsu (Father of the dark magician,Kyouaku) and his demon form is an exact match for Gaikotsu’s demon appearance.

EVERYTHING'S INSIDE
powers: Nakade finds himself in a difficult situation. In addition to being a Seishi, he is also the vessel for a dormant demon spirit. As such, upon entering the book, he will unlock both his Seishi powers, and - once he is able to access his demon self - his powers as a demon.
Healing: His seishi ability. HE has the power to heal injuries, illnesses and poisons either partially or entirely. Although unlike some healers, he cannot cause harim as well as repair it. Naturally, the larger the healing that is required, the more energy it uses. He will have more energy to draw from than most Seishi - as he has his latent demon abilities - but as all of his powers draw on this energy, he must be careful not to overexert himself.
Enhanced Abilities: Nakade gets many enhanced abilities from his latent demon nature. Among these are enhanced speed, strength, and dexterity. His normal senses are somewhat enhanced, and his ability to recover/regenerate after an injury or illness is also increased. Most of these enhanced abilities use little to no energy to use normally. Naturally, the more he uses them, the more of a strain they become, especially when he uses more than one at the same time. Likewise, although he is stronger and faster than many humans, he is not abnormally strong or fast by demon standards.
Wind Manipulation: A power inherited by the demon members of his bloodline, he has the ability to manipulate wind, including summoning up small tornados and gusts of strong wind. He is also able to fine-tune his wind ability into a slash of wind as sharp as a blade that can cut his enemy. On the flip side, he can also use his wind manipulation to slow down the movement of the wind around someone who is falling, and effectively catch or buffer them safely to the ground.
Shadow Manipulation: In addition to his wind manipulation, he can also manipulate shadows, stretching them out to completely conceal himself or others from view. He cannot create shadows from nothing, but he can take an existing shadow and make it larger to suit his needs. This also takes very little energy, but can add up quickly with his other skills. HE also has the ability to conceal himself and travel by shadows, but as with manipulating them, he cannot create them, but only use what is already there. HE can only travel from one shadow to the next so long as it is within the line of sight from his current location.
Dark Magic: Although not as skilled with this as someone who has trained all their life to be a magician, he is able to do small acts of magic largely unaided, as he has never had any formal, practical training with his magic. It will all be purely trial and error.
abilities: Swordplay: One of his jobs at the hot springs was to put on a display of swordsmanship while dressed as a samurai. As such, he has trained very hard for most of his life and has become very skilled in the use of his katana. He has never had to use it in battle, but he has all the skills he would need to defend himself and others.
Medicinal Knowledge: Another one of his tasks at the hot springs was to mix up and sell natural remedies for the tourists. Though not as effective as modern medicine, he knows many recipes by heart that have been passed down through his family for generations. He can find a medicinal use for nearl any herb or plant, and he knows how to mix them up into something useful quickly and easily. He tends to carry a small pouch on his belt that contains a few small bottles of these assorted remedies, as well as some cloth strip bandages. He used this at the hotspring to treat small injuries tourists received, without ‘breaking character’
Acting: The majority of his life, he has lived with his grandparents and worked at their spa. As the entire village basically acts like one big reenactment of ancient times, he’s gotten very good at playing his parts believably. The older he got, the more his grandparents trusted him to do, and the more parts he had to plat. This makes him very adaptable to any situation, and allows him to lie rather believably, though he prefers not to.
Horseback Riding. Another skill gained at his grandparents’ spa, he has learned to ride and tend to horses, and will take tourists on personal guided tours of some of the mountain paths surrounding the village.
Outdoor Cooking: As well as basic hunting and fishing. Again, these are skills he would display for tourists, helping them to catch fish and then cooking it for them over the campfire for a truly unique experience.
weapons: A katana given to him by his grandfather. Though it has not seen real battle in a very long time - if ever - he has kept it sharpened and in good condition, arguing that if the tourists noticed it was dull, it would break some of the magic of the illusion of the reenactment.
strengths: In addition to the obvious strengths granted to him by his Seishi and Demon powers, he is also a quick thinker, a quick learner, and very adaptable.
weaknesses: Nakade’s main weakness is his complete lack of knowledge about being both a Seishi and a demon. had he gained either ability earlier in life, he may have had a chance to master them by now, but between this and the fact that he is literally in a world that is not his own, he has a feeling akin to diving into the deep end and trying not to drown. His kindness and generosity can also make him quite easy to manipulate, though it must be done with caution. If he realizes he’s being manipulated or lied to, he will become angry, and it is next to impossible to regain his trust and support. In addition, he suffers from migraines. Unbeknownst to him, these are caused by his demon form attempting to awaken, and they will lessen dramatically as he learns to control those powers and access that form.
personality:
Nakade is a kind and gentle man. He is the sort that will go out of his way to help someone and act as if it was nothing because, to him, it was the most natural course of action. All of his kindness and generosity have served to make him well liked among his village, and yet it never feels like enough. He always feels like he has to help others and atone for some sin that he does not remember committing.
He is a loving person, helping his grandparents with their hot spring resort, and looking after the small children in the village who were left with no one else to care for them. He has a very special fondness for children, and is quick to step in - even if the matter does not concern him - if there is a child involved or being threatened. He will also look after those who seem to have no way to take care of themselves, or defend themselves. Although this can make him easy to manipulate, it must be a very clever deception. If he discovers that he has been taken advantage of, he becomes quite angry.
Nakade is quicker to get angry on behalf of others than he is on his own behalf - unless he discovers deception on the part of someone he trusts - but he is overall very slow to get angry under normal circumstances. He has been able to do just about everything he needed to for most of his life, so he gets quite frustrated when there is something he cannot do - especially if it is a new skill he just cannot seem to pick up.
He is very intelligent and loves to learn. He reads a lot, and he even keeps a journal of his own thoughts and observations, though he doesn’t let anyone read this journal. It is not because he is ashamed of anything he has written, but simply that he doesn’t think there is anything in it that would interest anyone but him. He keeps most of the recipes for his herbal remedies in this notebook as well and thoughts on how to mix new, more effective ones.
When he gets angry - which is rare - it is most often at the sight of severe injustice and the mistreatment of others. His blue eyes - usually warm and sunny - turn as cold as ice and his manner becomes quieter and more harsh. Although not generally a violent man, he will resort to the use of force to protect himself or others, though he tries to only use as much force as is strictly necessary for the situation at hand. He is the sort of person who would sacrifice himself to save another, but would not desire someone else to do the same for him. He is humble, and doe not consider himself dreadfully special in any way - he doesn’t think he’s all that handsome, or smart, or brave or generous - he only thinks that he is a simple man who lives a simple life and tries to make the world a little bit better for others to enjoy. He is, overall, a very friendly and outgoing person. He loves to laugh and tease, and he is always looking for a way to connect with others and form new friendships.

how.do.they.feel.about.the.seishi.miko: Although he knows nothing of this world, he will - once he learns he is a Seishi - devote himself to fulfilling his duty as he hopes it will help improve the lives of many people. He will work with his fellow Seishi to protect the Miko - not that Akahanna needs much protection - and to keep the non-magical members of their traveling party safe. He will also show respect for the other groups of Seishi and their respective Miko/
how.do.they.feel.about.normal.humans: It is his nature to be friendly and respectful to others, and he will always give the benefit of the doubt until he has been shown the person has ill intentions, or cannot be trusts.

important.NPCs:
Grandparents: Nakade’s elderly grandparents. They run a hot spring resort in the small village where he was born and raised. His mother was a very frail person and was never in good health. His father left shortly after he was born because he did not want the responsibility of caring for a sick wife and an infant son, so most of the burden of care fell on her parents. She died when Nakade was ten, having never fully recovered her health after a difficult pregnancy. His grandparents never complained about raising their grandson, and instead did their best to instill good values in him and to help mold him into a generous, well rounded adult.
Village Orphans: There are five young orphans who live with Nakade and his grandparents. Although none of them are related to each other, they have essentially been adopted into the family, and love Nakade as their older brother and his grandparents (Whom they just call Baa-chan and Ji-chan) as their own. There are two boys, Omi (9) and Tama (7), and three girls, Aniko (8), Jing Yi (7) and Yuki (5). They all idolize Nakade and try their best to learn from his example. They work hard and help others. Even though they are not a family, they love each other like brothers and sisters, and though sometimes they also fight like siblings, they are quick to look after each other, especially Yuki, because she is the youngest each child has their own story that led to them ending up at the Hot springs resort, but most of them arrived there when they were too young to remember.

history:
Nakade’s family line started generations ago in a far off land. Though no one recalls it now, they originated in a demon clan. The demons were very powerful, but made a habit of marrying uman women - despite the fact that human women could not survive bearing demon children from such a powerful bloodline. Eventually, the bloodline diluted enough that it was no longer fatal for human women to have these children, and the powers became weaker and weaker until, at last, the demonic nature became something of a recessive trait,being inherited by some and skipping over others. Likewise, as it became more rare, it seemed to reach a point where instead of vanishing altogether, it became more concentrated and powerful. Eventually, one child was born every 100 years or so with the demonic nature dormant within them. Their powers would awaken in a time of great stress and need, and they would be forced to hide away their powers, leave their families, or stay and risk persecution as witches and monsters. Nakade is the newest of the children born into his family with this latent ability. It is also worthy to note that he is also the reincarnation of his ancestor, Gaikotsu, the powerful demon lord who fathered the even more powerful Kyouaku, though he is ignorant of both of these facts.

Nakade was born to a mother who always had a fairly frail constitution, and the pregnancy was so hard on her that she had to remain bedridden for most of it. It was hoped that her health would improve after Nakade was born, but it did not, and his father - overwhelmed with the stress of caring for both a newborn and an ailing wife - took her to her parent’s home in a small mountain village, and left her and their son there to be looked after by her parents, never to return. Despite this disappointing start to life, Nakade grew up a very happy and well rounded child. His mother tutored him - as it was something she could do from bed - and his grandparents taught him how to work in the hot spring resort they owned and operated. The customers were all enamored by the little boy - barely able to walk - that resolutely helped his grandfather carry supplies, pulling them along in his toy wagon when he was too little to help any other way.

It was not that his Grandparents expected him to work, but rather that - from a young age - he thought it was only right. It was as if he knew he owed them much for taking care of himself and his mother. When he was about 10 years old, his mother got sick during the winter, and finally passed away. Though he was heartbroken, Nakade was glad his mother would no longer suffer. By this point, he had already begun to train in both swordplay and herbal remedies. The spa prided itself on being something of a reenactment, giving tourists a glimpse into the past while they relaxed. As such, it was not long before Nakade was dressing in traditional yukata and performing choreographed sword routines for cheering customers, just as his grandfather had before him. He also took an interest in mixing herbal remedies, and became skilled in both medicinal herbs and also in herbs with cosmetic uses - a big hit with the women visiting the spa who wanted to feel pampered and special.

Nakade has slowly taken over more responsibilities at the spa, knowing his grandparents are not going to be able to keep up their rigorous work schedules for much longer. Thankfully, he is no longer alone in this, as - through a series of unusual events - the family has unofficially adopted a few children in recent years. Some of them were orphaned during a bad winter storm, and others had families that died from illness. One - Omi - simply got abandoned by his family in the village because they could no longer afford to care for him, and the youngest - Yuki - was simply left near the hotspring one day with a note asking that they look after the little girl. Nakade loves these children, and has taken on most of the burden of caring for them himself, serving as a father figure as he does big brother.

One day while he was picking herbs for more remedies, he found a book laying near the spring. Thinking it was perhaps left by a customer, he decided to flip through the book to see if he could return it to the proper owner. The book was blue with a dragon design, and the symbol “Winnowing Basket” on the front cover and it looked very old. Little did he know what The Universe of the Four Gods had in store for him…
