DON'T JUDGE ME

appearance: Very pale skinned and blue eyed, with black hair that hangs in choppy layers to his shoulders. His facial features are delicate and almost feminine. Built tall, about 5’11”, and wiry rather than broad. He is from the modern world, so he generally dresses like a typical college student - jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers - though due to the necessity to move around in daylight hours, combined with his sensitivity for sunlight, he invariably pairs this with a dark colored hoodie, no matter the weather or temperature. This is also frequently accompanied by sunglasses and thick layers of sunscreen to cover any exposed skin that would seem strange to cover with clothing. Even so, he attempts to limit the amount of time that he spends in the sun due to his tendency to burn, though he blames sunburn on his paleness, rather than being a vampire.

Sunlight - as a vampire, this is a major weakness. He is unlikely to turn to ash except if there is an extreme case of exposure, but even brief exposure to sunlight can cause severe sunburn.

Power draining ability is activated by touching the creature he wishes to obtain power from. He cannot drain power from a distance.

The more powerful an ability he drains, the more control and physical strength on his part it takes to wield it effectively. A very strong power may break loose of his control if he is not in peak health.

Blood-drinking - as a vampire, he must drink blood in order to survive. Any mammalian blood will do for simple survival, but for best results, humanoid blood is preferable. Likewise, if he is injured/ill, humanoid blood will help him to heal more quickly than animal blood.

personality: A very shy, intellectual sort with few social skills, despite his multitude of languages. Due to his history, he is quite shy and uncertain about his sexuality, and does not expect to be accepted by most. As a result, many of his interests are solitary and quiet ones, including domestic skills and a devoted interest in all kinds of mythology. He is, by necessity, primarily nocturnal, though due to living in the human world, he can function during the day if necessary. This does not help with his solitude. However, he is inclined, if he trusts or cares for someone, to handmake a garment or carefully seek out a book on a subject he knows fascinates them and, rather than present these items in any grand gesture, he generally tucks them somewhere he knows they will be found by the intended recipient. He is generally not assertive in any way - often to his own detriment - but can be quite protective of those he cares for. He has a very gentle, soft-spoken demeanor and sense of humor, but if stranded on a desert island with someone he didn’t know, he would exist in complete solitude, due to not having a familiar person to facilitate introductions.

important.NPCs:



Michiko a.k.a. Misery - his vegan, goth roommate. They met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend at college, and she became quickly aware that he was not into girls, despite his efforts to appear heterosexual due to his family history (see history). Once they sorted out that they were not going to be a couple, they struck up a friendship, and she offered the struggling college student a place to stay. To date, she is his only close friend. She is also the reader of his book.



history: He was found abandoned as an infant in Wales, and was eventually adopted by an American military family while they were stationed there. After discovering that the child was, in fact, a Welsh lifedrinker, the family sought to protect the child, and requested relocation to a larger city through their military connections. They were reassigned to Japan. As a result, Eli was essentially raised in Japan, and this course of events accounts for his knowledge of the Welsh, English, and Japanese languages. It was as a teen that he discovered that he did not feel the expected attraction toward women, but instead toward men, but for many years he did attempt to date girls, under the mistaken impression that it would help him “change his mind”. Unsurprisingly, this had no effect, and ultimately, he broke up with his girlfriend the same day that his family was scheduled to leave Japan, in order to return to the United States. On the flight to Hong Kong, which was the route chosen to get them back to the states, his parents pestered him about his low mood until he finally confessed to them that he had broken up with his girlfriend because he was gay. They did not respond well, and in fact abandoned their son in the airport, in a country that was not his own, and whose language he did not speak.



In desperation, he sought a student visa, and enrolled in university, which is where he was introduced to his last attempted-girlfriend, Michiko. She quickly figured out that he was not interested in women, and instead the two became fast friends and, quickly thereafter, roommates. He has since obtained both his undergraduate and masters degrees in Chinese history, and is now seeking his doctorate.



He is a Seishi from the modern world, so his Seishi powers have not yet manifested, as he has not yet entered the book. However, his vampire powers have been present since birth.
