Enchantress, huh? Hotori kind of liked the sound of that, especially coming from Isamu. That would make him...she paused, thinking for a moment. What would describe the man she loved? He was like a knight is shining armor, though she had seen glimpses of a colder, professional him. He'd be...an Ice Knight, and only she knew how to thaw him out...
“You really like that colour?”
She looked from the stone to his eyes and back again. "I think it could easily become my new favorite color..." She was glad that he seemed to like it, and smiled when he said he'd remembered some things too. It made her feel less crazy to be able to so openly discuss this with him. She told him of the memory related to the necklace, and listened as he seemed to remember something as they sat there eating. She said she could remember buying a new dress, and someone talking her into looking at another shop...but that person was still shrouded in shadows. He had done something...she couldn't remember what, but it had the same feel as the elusive nightmares that sometimes bothered her. She could also remember when Isamu gave her the bear. He had been poisoned...injured protecting her, but thankfully he had recovered. "When I went to the market to buy that stone...that was the first time I'd left your side in days..." She finished her own little recount. She shook her head. She might have to start writing this all down so they could try to make sense of it...put it in some sort of order as they remembered. She indicated how many sugars she wanted, as she had a fondness for sweet things, and smiled a silent thank you as she continued eating and watched him go to wash is own dishes. She could tell her little teasing comment had thrown him off guard for a moment, and she found his initial reaction quite...adorable.
“Hotori… no one ever showed the interest you have… no one will ever take your place. If we shared a deep bond in the past and have finally found each other again, I do not plan to let you go…never…never again. Besides, I do not think anyone would appreciate a sudden wedding with a complete stranger, at least those that know us must expect us to date for a bit… Although, whichever way I still win, because I get to spend more time with the most beautiful singer I have ever met…”
She blushed happily at his words, and smiled at him as she finished eating. She was about to stand and take her dishes when he took them and began to wash them as well. "No, darling, I'm pretty sure I win." She said with a smile as she returned his kiss. "Remind me to send Sakano-san flowers for overreacting and sending you my way..."
And that thought sobered her happy little bubble. Despite whatever they shared, and whatever connections they had in the past, to the world at large, including her manager, she was just a singer, and he was just her hired bodyguard. If they were to show any of these feelings in public, surely it would look as though she was taking advantage of the fact that she was, in a way, his boss. They were in love, and if their memories were real, had been for a long time, but no one else knew about that. She'd have to return to calling him 'Li-san.' once they left the apartment, and that was an odd thought to consider.
“Do you take any food to your University or do you usually come here and eat?”
"It depends." She answered truthfully. "If I have a long day of classes, or something to do right afterward, I'll either take something, or grab a bite to eat at this little diner near the campus, but if time permits I'll come home and eat." She smiled as she headed for her room to get ready. "Today I've just got the one class, and that's probably not going to last the full time since we have an exam. We should be done long before lunch becomes a concern." She reached her door and turned to give him a wink. "I'll be right back."
After a quick shower, she dried and brushed her hair before pulling it back into a loose ponytail, mostly something to keep it out of the way during her exam. She then dressed in comfortable dark jeans and a sleeveless white blouse with little lacy pink and blue flowers along the trim. After a quick spritz of her favorite perfume she was ready to go, pulling on the same boots she'd worn the night before. She grabbed the messenger bag she used for school and made sure it had what she would need for the exam before dropping her purse, cell phone, and keys into the small zipper. She was about to leave her room when she remembered something and ran to the dresser, picking up the spare key she kept there.
That in hand, she rejoined him in the living room. "Here." She said without preamble as she held the key out to him with a smile. "You're living here now...you'll need a key, right?" She chuckled to herself. "I mean, I know there's all those changes you need to have done..." She remembered his list of corrections from his initial inspection of the home. "But until you do, you'll need a key for the lock we do have." She scooped up Aya and scratched her chin affectionately. "Be good while we're gone..." She said before setting the kitten back down and turning to Isamu. "I'm ready when you are..."

”I think it could easily become my new favorite color… When I went to the market to buy that stone...that was the first time I'd left your side in days…”
Noticing the way she looked from the stone to his eyes and vice verse he smiled. his eyes not leaving hers for a moment and when she spoke he had the feeling that there was a dark incident that had perturbed her in that part life of theirs yet he still could not bring himself to remember. But he also knew that, his own past, that life he held was dark and had a terrible past and in a way he knew that in remembering his love with Hotori he would also be awaking the ghosts of a past he rather not remember. He shuddered lightly but he did his best to ignore it and smiled at her words, “We really need to write this down…” He would probably go and get a copybook or something while whew as at the University. Otherwise they would both go insane and though they remembered things they best keep a record of them somehow. Least they should forget. It would also help them connect thoughts together and probably at some point discover the truth as hard as it could be…
As it would be…
“No, darling, I'm pretty sure I win… Remind me to send Sakano-san flowers for overreacting and sending you my way…”
He smiled, for some reason he sensed a freedom he had never experienced before… to be this close to Hotori and be able to touch her or kiss her and allow her to do the same with him. It was as if he had been refrained form doing any of the sort for hundreds of years, at least it felt that way. He looked at her for a moment, could this also be part of their memories? Surely a bit of fresh air would do them both good, he was a bit weary already for having recalled this much in one day. Surely she felt the same? Of course it was nice to rekindle fond memories for heir past together, but, it was too much too soon. And thinking at what could happen to their slowly growing love, they would have to hide it for a while, form the eyes of the world.
“It depends… If I have a long day of classes, or something to do right afterward, I'll either take something, or grab a bite to eat at this little diner near the campus, but if time permits I'll come home and eat… Today I've just got the one class, and that's probably not going to last the full time since we have an exam. We should be done long before lunch becomes a concern… I’ll be right back.”
He nodded and grinned when she winked at him. In all honesty she was much more naughty than he first fought when he met her. Not that it displeased him, he was quite happy with her being just as she was. He would not change anything about her, yet it did surprise him for she had seemed so shy before. He smiled and then decided they could go somewhere for lunch after her exam. She needed a treat, but where could he take her? He waited silently looking at the landscape and felt her walk toward him. He did not turn to look at her at first, he was still absorbed in his own mind and trying to think of a nice place to take his beloved but he soon turned to look at her and caught what she gave him. He examined it for a moment and realised it was the key to the flat.
“Here… You’re living here now...you'll need a key, right? I mean, I know there's all those changes you need to have done… But until you do, you'll need a key for the lock we do have.”
He smirked and laced the key in his pocket before he chuckled, “Speaking of which, I will probably have to mention all this to your boss, to keep him calm and ensure your flat does get all the equipment it needs… I would not want my girl to be in danger…” he caressed her cheek and smiled before kissing her lips for a moment and pulling her to him in a loving embrace for as long as the kiss lasted. They would be unable to do any of this outside the safety of their flat… so, for now… this would be their last kiss for the day, until they returned home. After a moment he slowly pulled away and then smiled as she played with her cat.
"I'm ready when you are…”
“Let’s go then.” He guided her outside the flat and then locked the door behind them, he walked before her, to ensure everything was safe and once downstairs he gave her the helmet she had used the night before and then he put on his own helmet. He waited for her to hive him all she wanted him to put in the booth before he sat and turned on his motorbike. He waited for her to settle behind him and then they left the paring spot. Traffic was not too bad and he took her through some smaller streets and shortcuts he knew by heart and soon enough they were at the University. He waited for her to get off before he said, with the helmet still on, “I will come to pick you up after your exam, I must run some errands…” He handed her the schoolbag and added, “Good luck, Hotori-sama.” He then turned and left to go and see her boss and ensure the safety measures were implemented in her flat and do the remaining things he had to before he came to fetch her.

“Speaking of which, I will probably have to mention all this to your boss, to keep him calm and ensure your flat does get all the equipment it needs… I would not want my girl to be in danger…”
Hotori returned the kiss and relaxed into the embrace, as if she had waited for years to be able to do this. When at last it ended, all too soon in her opinion, she smiled up at him. "I like the sound of that...being called your girl." She tapped her chin in thought before saying. "I guess that would make you my man." She could just picture Haru teasing her for that, and chuckled softly as they left the apartment. She noticed how effortlessly he seemed to slip from her love to her protector. Once they reached his motorbike, she handed over her bag to get put away before taking the helmet and putting it on. She then climbed on behind him, and took hold the same way she had the night before. She knew this was one of the only times she'd get to be close to him in public, so she enjoyed the ride.
They took a route she'd never seen before, and arrived a bit quicker at her University than she would have figured. Once stopped out front, she took a second to put on her 'professional' face, the look she adopted when dealing with her manager, before she removed the helmet and got off the bike before handing it over and taking her bag.
“I will come to pick you up after your exam, I must run some errands…Good luck, Hotori-sama.”
She noticed a few classmates, Haru among them, were standing nearby, so she gave a simple nod. "Right, Li-san. I'll see you then." She managed a small smile. "And thank you." With that, she turned and started toward her classmates. Haru strode out to meet her, pulling her into a hug of greeting.
"So, that was Mr. Hottie Bodyguard, huh?" He asked with a grin. He took her arm and started toward the building. "No wonder you didn't call me back last night..."
Hotori shot him a look. "It isn't like that Haru-kun. Li-san is just my bodyguard."
"For now." Haru agreed with a nod. "If you play your cards right, maybe..." Haru grinned. "I mean, he is a hottie..."
"I'm telling Sei-kun..." Hotori threatened, half-heartedly.
"I can look, as long as I don't touch." He gave her a wink. "So, I want a play-by-play when you do touch..."
Hotori rolled her eyes, but blushed faintly. "I said it's not like that..."
Neither had noticed one of their fellow classmates was walking along with them and listening in. "Oh, Hotori-san, you got a new bodyguard?" She asked innocently. "Oh, I keep forgetting you're a singer too..."
Hotori didn't care for that particular classmate. She had seemed to have something against Hotori from the beginning, though Hotori couldn't think of anything she'd ever done to the redhead. "Yes, Kiki-sna. My manager insisted on hiring a new bodyguard for me." She gave a polite smile as they entered the classroom. "Li-san is the best in the business..."
The girl got a predatory smile. "He could guard my body anytime..." She then split off from the pair and went to her seat across the room without another word.
Hotori frowned after her before Haru nudged her. "Don't worry about her..." He whispered as they took their seats. "Any guy who looked at the two of you would obviously pick you."
Hotori grinned. "You have to say that, you're my friend."
Haru tossed her a wink. "Doesn't mean it's not true, Hotori-cahn."
~~~
Haru finished the exam before Hotori and waited in the hallway for her, deciding to keep her company until her hunky bodyguard returned to pick her up. Just a few moments later, Hotori exited the classroom with a smile. She spotted her friend and crossed to him. "How'd you do?" He asked.
"Easy peasy." She replied with a grin. "I wouldn've finished sooner, but I wanted to double check my ansers before turning it in."
Haru smiled, and the pair started to walk toward the front of the building to wait for Isamu when Haru stopped her suddenly. "I almost forgot!" He dug around in his schoolbag and held out something for her. She opened her hands and he dropped it into her palm. "Sei found it while shopping yesterday, so we got it for you. It can keep the others company."
Hotori looked down at the yellow rubber duck. It wore a cowboy hat, and had a little lasso looped around one little wing. She laughed when she saw it. "Thanks, Haur-kun." She put it away in her bag for later and took his hand as they headed outside. When they'd first met, Haru had said she was cuter than a rubber ducky, so ever since then, he'd periodically given her different rubber ducks, all of which lived on a shelf in her bedroom. It was an odd little collection, but she liked it, and occasionally others would give her new ducks for it. It was silly, but it was fun too.
They stepped out into the sunshine, and walked to a bench under a tree to chat and wait. "Do you think Mr. Hottie will take off his helmet when he picks you up?" Haru asked with a sly grin. "Do I even want him to?" He added.
Hotori shook her head. "He has a name, you know. Isamu Li-san." She gave a shrug. "As for the helmet...I don't know. It doesn't really matter..."
"That smile..." Haru teased. "He must be as handsome as the rest of him promises."
"It's not like that..." She said again, feeling like a broken record as they waited. She watched Kiki exit the building and noticed she seemed to be waiting for someone too, but Hotori quickly dismissed her. It was none of her business.
Both stood when Isamu arrived, and Hotori leaned up to kiss Haru on the cheek. "I'll talk to you later, Haru-kun." She said with a smile before turning to start toward Isamu. She was surprised to see Kiki heading straight for him as well, her best seductive smile in place.
"I like the sound of that...being called your girl... I guess that would make you my man."
He smiled as he rode back to Sakano’s office. Isamu was not fond of the man but he wished to ensure he knew he did his job properly, plus he wanted to keep Hotori safe. Once he arrived he gave the list to the manager and stressed the importance that these measures were taken into account immediately, in fact, he insisted the work should be done while she was away at the University so no harm could come to her or any discomfort due to the noise. The man seemed exasperated but when Isamu gave him the cold piercing glance he complied almost immediately. Isamu was glad he had that power over scum like this man, he did not want Hotori to be treated indifferently. Before he left, however, the man told him to keep an eye on her and not let her leave her flat without practicing for several hours and writing more songs for her next albums. He raised an eyebrow and made sure that man knew he was only there to protect and advise her, he was no one's nanny and he would certainly not stop a young woman from enjoying her life for that was part of living. He rolled his eyes when the man begged for his forgiveness and said he would never force him to do anything so long as he kept on working for Hotori. He sighed and closed the door behind him. He face-palmed as he reached his motorbike and sighed..again.
He returned to the flat with a group of people who were meant to apply the new safety measures he mentioned to the manager but he did not leave until they were done. He did not trust them doing the job properly and since he loved the woman who lived in that apartment, well that made him even more demanding with others. Of course that did not mean he wished to annoy anyone, it was simply his way... he was a bodyguard after all, he took life seriously.
Once the new locks were set, he went to get two more copies of the keys, one for Hotori and one to be kept in the flat in case needed. During his last trip he managed to find a nice place to take Hotori for lunch and he returned to the flat to get Aya. He found a small travelling box for cats that could be tied to his motorbike and he hoped she would enjoy this as much as he would. He was glad Aya liked him and cooperated with him when he placed her in her little box and then he fastened the box to the motorbike. In fact the cat seemed eager to travel with him, he smiled at that, did Hotori like the way he communicated with animals?-He wondered-He finally looked at his watch and smiled, everything had been done right on time, he was truly pleased with himself. He hoped she had done well, sometimes exams could be difficult not due to lack of study but bad tutelage. Ensuring the flat was left as clean as it was before all the noisy men came inside… He put on his helmet and once he ensured the cat was safe, he rode back tot he University. This time he decided to park inside and finding a good spot at the very entrance he parked his black bike. He could tell students were leaving the building and he wondered if that was Hotori's class.
He had to admit he was rather curious of Hotori’s student life and friends. She seemed to enjoy what she was studying and though he knew her only a day ago, he always studied his protégées before accepting the role. He wanted to know their strengths and weaknesses, that way he could ensure their safety and that of those they loved. Once he parked her checked up on Aya who was looking around with curiosity but she behaved, he smiled and caressed her nose through the wire openings and then looking at the entrance he noticed how the students began to look his way and stare. He smirked and finally removed his helmet, and his long dark hair broke free and shook with the wind. He put on his sunglasses to check the building, since they looked like normal shades no one would suspect him, he had to know everything about this building just in case she ever needed to run away. One never knew… you could never be too sure.
Now Isamu was rather aware of his charms... and he would not hide it he pleased himself on that, but he was no vane person and most of the time he did things without thinking how... alluring they could be. This was one of such moments. The stone around his neck shone as his shirt shook with the wind, and his muscular body was eel defined through his silken shirt and leather trousers. He leaned casually on his bike while he waited and crossed his arms across his chest. his eyes still looked around and he noticed that, for some reason, a girl with long red hair was walking in his direction. He slowly moved to stand a bit confused, but as he looked to his left he saw Hotori emerging form the building with her classmates. He grind and removed his sunglasses for his amber eyes to meet her emerald ones.
One could say he was a bit cheeky, but no customer had ever complained about that. The wind blew on his hair and he patiently waited for her to approach when suddenly the red-haired girl moved to stand right in front of him, her eyes examining him and her lips curved in a seductive almost longing smile. “You are rather handsome for a bodyguard… you could protect me… Hotori does not need your services… I can pay any price…” So she was probably a rich girl right? He did not wish to humiliate her or offend her in front of all her classmates so he simply smiled at her and said, “I’m usually hired for people who work in a dangerous environment, and I only take one person at a time I’m afraid. But I can give you some contacts and you can request another bodyguard.”
He hoped that would close the topic… But it did not… Some people were quite persistent, right? She smiled and ran a hand down his arm feeling his strong arm and then winked at him, “I would only settle for you…” Her eyes looked threatening though and he knew that probably trouble would arise form this situation. He made a mental note to study this person and protect himself form any threats, him and Hotori. The girl was going to try and caress his face next when he moved away and his eyes turned to look back at Hotori, “Forgive me, my customer is here…”
She frowned and turned to look at Hotori, pure hatred in her eyes. Why did she always get the best things in life? Oh no, not this time, this time she would get what she wanted and she would ensure of that…
Despite Hotori's attempt to leave Haru at the entrance to the building, he strode along with her for a little bit, curious to get a closer look at this bodyguard. Closer up, he wasn't too bad to look at, though Haru wouldn't admit that, especially if Sei was within earshot. "Looks like Kiki has her sights set on your new guy."
Hotori scoffed. "He wouldn't be interested in a girl like her." She shot Haru a look before adding. "And he's not into guys either..."
"So what is he interested in, then?" Haru asked as he leaned close to her ear so only she could hear. "Green haired singers who like teddy bears and rubber duckies?" Something in Haru's tone said he knew the answer, and Hotori wanted to tell him the truth, but knew she couldn't...not yet, and not at school, at least.
"It's not like that." She elbowed him gently before stepping away to stroll toward where Isamu waited. She waved over her shoulder at Haru and called back. "Give Sei-kun a kiss for me!" She approached where her bodyguard stood next to his bike, watching as he dodged Kiki's hand, as she appeared to try and caress his face. Kiki wouldn't be happy that Isamu apparently had no interest in her.
"Good afternoon, Li-san." She said with a small smile of greeting as she came to stand next to them. The smile became something more genuine as she looked up at him and added. "I hope you weren't waiting long." The sunlight caught the stone hanging around his neck, and she had to stop from reaching up and touching it once more. They had agreed the previous night to remain professional in public, though truthfully that had been before they had realized either desired anything beyond professionalism.
She spotted the cat carrier tied to the bike and leaned over to peer in. "Aya-chan! What a pleasant surprise." She reached a finger through the wire to stroke the cat's ear before she straightened and finally looked to Kiki. "Oh, Kiki-san, did you need something?" She gave her a polite smile. "If you had a question about class, you should have asked Haru-kun and I. We'd be quite happy to help you."
She knew, of course, that Kiki wasn't asking Isamu about classwork, and a very small part of her felt jealous that this woman would set her sights on Hotori's beloved, when there were so many other men who were interested in her. Still, she loved and trusted Isamu completely, and knew there was truth in what she'd told Haru. Women like Kiki held no interest for him.
She heard a small chime from her phone, and pulled it out, surprised to see a text from Haru. She looked around and saw him standing near the entrance, waiting for Sei she assumed, grinning at her as he put his phone away. what could he have to say that he couldn't say out loud to her? They'd only just parted company, after all. She opened the text, and read it silently. 'I'll give Sei that kiss from you if you give Mr. Hottie one for me.' She spared just a second to text back. 'I'm telling Sei-kun.'
She put her phone away quickly and looked back at the two people closest to her. "Sorry, it seems that we have somewhere else to be. We'd best go, Li-san." It made it sound as though the test had been something more important than it actually was, but Hotori hadn't lied, not technically, and nothing else would likely get rid of Kiki any time soon. She looked over at Kiki, and couldn't help but add. "Li-san really is quite the talented bodyguard. I feel like such a lucky girl." She held her bag out for Isamu to put up for her before taking her helmet and putting it on. She waited for Isamu to take his place on the bike before getting on behind him. She gave Kiki a little wave goodbye before holding on to her love and bodyguard so they could leave. Now that her face was hidden behind the helmet, she had to resist the urge to make a face at Kiki or stick her tongue out. That really wouldn't me very mature, now would it?
She did need to work on some more songs for her next album, and she also had a paper due in a couple days for another class that she needed to finish, but she could think of nothing pressing she had to do that afternoon anywhere other than her apartment. Still, Isamu had said he knew her schedule, so hopefully if she was forgetting something, he would remember. She had a day planner at home that she put all of her plans for work and school in, but she'd forgotten to check it that morning before leaving.
She wanted to ask how his errands had gone, but found it difficult to talk while riding the motorbike, with both of them in helmets and Isamu concentrating on the road. She decided to simply enjoy the ride and wait to see where they were going, as she hadn't even asked before getting on the bike. She also hadn't questioned Aya's presence, sure that Isamu had a reason for all that he did. It was odd to trust someone so much that you never needed to question their actions, especially after only meeting them he previous day, but that was the level of trust Hotori felt instinctively for Isamu.
A thought occurred to her suddenly, but it was one she couldn't voice in public. She had a television appearance in a day or so, and though she was at ease with the performance part, there was always an interview section, and the host was a notorious flirt, and very nosy. He was sure to ask if Hotori had 'someone special', and Hotori...wasn't sure how much she could tell. She hated lying to her fans, and moreover she was a dreadful liar. She could tease and be sarcastic, but she just couldn't lie. Any time she tried, people seemed to call her own it instantly. She would have to talk to Isamu, once they were back in the safety of their apartment-it made her smile to think of it that way-and see what his advice was.
Link to Kiki’s looks
"Good afternoon, Li-san.”
Isamu was so relieved that Hotori had finally arrived, he did not know what else to try not to hurt Kiki’s feelings in front of the whole University. True, he was not interested in her at all but, he was not heartless-and he knew what it was like to be humiliated having experienced that in his own flesh.-Now, he also did not want to cause problems for Hotori, especially since she still had to finish her studies. He nodded to Hotori and said, “Good afternoon, I trust the exam went well?” by then he had put his shades back on since his customer was nearby and he had to do his job properly. His smile was polite, the type of smile you would give the people you worked with, yes, he could play the part well although deep inside he had the urge to kiss her lips having missed them for a few hours now. But they had to keep this hidden and safe, no one could know, least they should remove him form his position and he had fought hard to be where he was and he also did not want to affect Hotori’s career either. The world would have to learn of this at some point but, not now, it was much too soon.
”I hope you weren't waiting long.”
He shook his head, his long dark hair moving with the wind, “I only just arrived.” He watched Hotori turn to look at what was attached on the motorbike and for a moment he feared she might be upset at him or something, truth be told, she had never been to that restaurant before but they were about to find out if it would be a good or a bad idea, he hoped it would not be the later… But he was glad to see she enjoyed seeing her cat and allowed her to pet her cat and then finally come to terms with Kiki who, once again, was leaning on him and resting her arms folded on his shoulder and smiling cunningly as her eyes met his. Why was she so persistent? Why did she not go after al those boys who seemed to kneel before her? He did not like that attention and it made him think she only did this to annoy Hotori, or to get a nice cozy experience at night. What kind of a man did she take him for? He gently removed her arms saying, “excuse me…” He then took Hotori’s bag and placed it in the motorbike’s boot and ensured everything was fastened enough for their trip.
“Oh, Kiki-san, did you need something? If you had a question about class, you should have asked Haru-kun and I. We'd be quite happy to help you.”
She raised an eyebrow and put on her red sunglasses to hide her annoyance and then smiled sweetly, “Oh I was only waiting for you, you came out after me so I thought I might as well have a little chat… But this can wait, I’ll ask you tomorrow, no worries.” She would back off for now but she would strike back. She always got what she wanted, she was not a rich girl for nothing. Isamu almost smirked at Kiki’s words but busied himself with putting on his helmet, that way he would have more excuses to not talking to Kiki who was still looking at him, he could feel her eyes on him, even when she was addressing Hotori.
’I'll give Sei that kiss from you if you give Mr. Hottie one for me.’
He was so desperate to look anywhere else but in Kiki’s direction that he looked down as he was moving to get on the bike and accidentally read Hotori’s message. As he sat on the bike and readied everything for the trip and handed Hotori her helmet, he blushed deeply, was that what they called him at her University? Part of him was a bit embarrassed and he wondered if she had been teased because of him, but part of him was rather pleased. In a way he was glad tat others thought him attractive enough to date someone like Hotori. It was a massive boost of his ego, and he knew it, but he was not vane or narcissist and so whenever he was complimented it had a strong effect on him. He decided to pretend he had not read the message, for now.
“Sorry, it seems that we have somewhere else to be. We'd best go, Li-san.”
Kiki nodded at Hotori and said, “Of course, have a fun trip…” and break your neck… she thought even though she waved nicely at the both of them. She was tempted to kiss his helmet but she stopped herself, she and to come up with a good plan to have that bodyguard…
“Li-san really is quite the talented bodyguard. I feel like such a lucky girl.”
Isamu felt her sit behind him and hold on to him as he turned on the motorbike. his body tensed and he silently gasped when Hotori spoke such words and he felt an even deeper blush than the one he had had when he read the message. He tried not to show it though and remembering he was out in the open he simply nodded the fact that they would be leaving now and were ready to do so, that way Kiki would move away and would not get any funny ideas, but to his displeasure her smile turned mischievous and she blew him a kiss before turning her back on them and walking away. He almost sighed in exasperation but he soon concentrate on the drive and smiled knowing his love was riding his motorbike with him. He had to keep her safe.
They rode on for a while. He ensured to take less busy roads while he searched for the place and when they finally arrived he smiled, it was far better than he expected. He parked at a free space and then began to put everything away. He removed the helmet and shook his hair gently before putting on his shades. He locked everything and finally picked Aya’s carry box and handed it to Hotori. He then said with a smile, “Follow me.” Once they entered a very modern building, inside it seemed as if it contained a rainforest. It had trees and plans all around and even the cushions were in nice areas. He grinned and turning to look at Hotori he said, “You can let Aya go now, she should be safe here, besides… I trust she will not leave our side, you see, this restaurant allows you to bring animals and I thought it would be nice for Aya to get out of the flat every once in a while and trusted you needed a treat after your exam.”
He looked around before he picked two menus and turned to look at her, “Feel free to choose where you would like us to sit.” He noticed a waitress was already approaching to probably ask them what they wanted to drink.
“Oh I was only waiting for you, you came out after me so I thought I might as well have a little chat… But this can wait, I’ll ask you tomorrow, no worries.”
Hotori was quite tempted to remind Kiki of the little saying about liars with pants on fire, but she simply returned the smile and nodded. Girls like Kiki gave the rest of them a bad name. For instance, Hotori had been raised well-off, but she didn't think she should be given any special treatment because of it. Still, she was having a good day, and that day would be even better once she and Isamu left campus...and she had no intention of letting Kiki do anything to spoil it for her.
As Isamu got things ready to go, and Hotori answered the text from Haru, she briefly wondered if Isamu had seen it, and wondered what he'd think of Haru's decided nickname for him. She nearly blushed at the thought, but thankfully managed not to. Instead she said goodbye to Kiki and, only once they had left campus, did she feel like she could finally relax, just a little, and enjoy the trip wherever Isamu was taking her.
It was a surprisingly long trip, but she didn't mind. The roads weren't busy, so there wasn't a lot of traffic to deal with. She allowed her mind to wander back to the previous night. All during dinner, she had tried her hardest to convince herself it wasn't a date, and yet, considering she had fallen asleep in his arms just a few hours later, maybe in a way it had been. It was also hard for her to think of this outing, though the destination was unknown to her, as anything other than a date. She'd have to be on guard to keep up the professional appearance they had agreed on for their time in public. She wanted to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him, but she knew she couldn't...not now, at least.
They arrived at last, and once Isamu parked, she stared up at the building, curious. She removed her helmet and handed it over before accepting Aya's carrier and, upon his simple command, with a smile, she followed him inside. It was truly unlike any place she had ever seen before, but it was quite lovely. There were plants everywhere, and it managed to feel like she was close to nature, even there in the heart of the city.
“You can let Aya go now, she should be safe here, besides… I trust she will not leave our side, you see, this restaurant allows you to bring animals and I thought it would be nice for Aya to get out of the flat every once in a while and trusted you needed a treat after your exam. Feel free to choose where you would like us to sit.”
She nodded, and let Aya out of her carrier, watching with amusement as she sniffed around a little before weaving a path between their legs, purring loudly. She gave a soft laugh at the kitten's antics before looking around and pointing to a place that looked nice to her. as she walked over with Isamu, she couldn't help but smile. This was one more thing to add to the long list of things she loved about him. Not only did he think to treat her after her exam, and not only did he think to bring Aya, but he'd picked such a lovely place. He really was far too perfect, and she couldn't help but wonder what she'd done in that mysterious past life to deserve him.
Hotori noticed Isamu had been right, and Aya was sticking fairly close to them, though she would playfully dart ahead occasionally to investigate their surroundings. She reached the table she'd pointed out a moment earlier, and took her seat, smiling as the kitten continued to bound around on the floor, though she stayed near. She looked up at her love and gave a small but genuine smile. "Thank you, I can tell already that this will be a treat." She couldn't resist a bit of light teasing, however, so she waggled her finger at him. "But next time will be my treat, okay?" Her smile turned into a playful smirk. "I don't want you thinking I'm a mooch or something."
She wasn't supposed to draw attention to their relationship, she knew, but she felt like it was the same sort of thing she'd say to Haru or Shouri, or even her aunt, and so anyone who knew her would probably think it odd if she didn't tease a little. She began to browse the menu, trying to decide what to order, and decided that conversation may not be considered too unprofessional. Surely they weren't expected to sit there silently, after all. "Did you get all of your errands done, Li-san?" She realized she wasn't entirely sure what he'd had to do. She hoped she didn't sound nosy.
The waitress came and took their drink orders, and Hotori chuckled when Aya gave a soft meow before jumping up into her lap and curling up, though her little head still moved to watch things around her. "She really does soeem to be enjoying this." She said, shaking her head slightly as she looked from the kitten to her beloved. "And I am too..." She admitted softly. She wanted to reach out and take his hand, or caress his cheek, or something...but she knew she couldn't. It was so hard being in love and having to hide it. She wondered silently if it was as much of a struggle for him as it was for her, or if she was just giddy and silly, as girls in love tended to be.
Isamu almost smirked at how his love tok in the place they reached even before they entered. She was as curious as Aya and both looked around and had she not been reminded that she had to stay put because he was guarding her, he would have almost bet she would have run around the whole restaurant until her curiosity had been satiated. He smiled and closed his eyes for a moment as his shades analysed the restaurant. No threat could be felt anywhere and so they would eat at peace. Whenever he was on duty unless it was very cloudy and dark he wore his sunglasses, it was part of the equipment and they never let him down. He trusted Hotori would understand that. At the moment they were the celebrity and her bodyguard, nothing more. And though he had an irresistible urge to take her into his arms and steal a kiss from her lips, he had to simply enjoy the fact that he could protect her and sit right next to her. He could almost at times feel her struggling as well, as if she repressed the need to touch him. Well, they had to grow strong form this, they could not let anyone find out about them, at least not yet, it was much too soon. And any way, he did not want anyone using his beloved to get to him. That had been the case in the past and he was done with that nonsense.
He watched Aya enjoy herself once she was released form her carry cage and then nodded to himself. It had been a terrific idea, Hotori was enjoying so much being in the company of her kitten, he would have smiled had it not been for the fact that he was on duty. He waited for the green-haired beauty as she chose a table for them to sit and eat and he followed behind. Her cat moved alongside them and finally curled in her lap. Isamu sat across her and the stone around his neck shone as he did so before he turned to look at the approaching waitress.
”Thank you, I can tell already that this will be a treat… But next time will be my treat, okay? I don't want you thinking I'm a mooch or something.”
He nodded at her words and said while he lazily stretched, “Sounds good to me.” In all honesty he did not mind to treat her but if she also wished to do the same-she was independent and had her own job as well-he would let her do the same if it pleased her. As with everything, he would do all at hand to keep her safe and happy and for some reason if felt as if he had done that very promise a very long time ago. He raised an eyebrow, he was glad he had finally gotten a notebook for them to write down the memories then they could organise them and finally put the pieces of the puzzle together… hopefully…
”Did you get all of your errands done, Li-san?”
They ordered their food and drinks before he had the time to reply, he nodded at her and said, “I even bought the notebook…” He hoped she would understand what he meant by that. Soon after the waitress arrived and placed the drinks on the table and looked at them a bit uncomfortable as she brought in what looked like an expensive alcoholic drink and she sighed saying, “I am sorry to disturb you but… a lady asked me to bring you this, it has been paid for… I am sorry she insisted so much… feel free to just not drink it at all…” she was really embarrassed, she honestly did not want to scare away her customers. Isamu raised an eyebrow, yet again, and looked around, who could have done such a thing? He sighed and said, “Very well, leave it here…” Once the lady left apologising several times again, Isamu looked at the drink and said, “We must not drink it…” He looked seriously at Hotori hoping she would understand he was being dead serious and he placed the glass on his side of the table. Some women did not understand that flirting with him without his interest just would not work right?
“She really does seem to be enjoying this… And I am too…”
His facial expression softened somewhat and he even forgot about the alcoholic beverage. He wanted to caress her cheek and call her ‘his’, but he settled with a nod, “I just thought it would be nice for a change.” They soon brought their food and he smiled before he began to eat his food. After this they could go back to the apartment, and his eyes glittered with an idea, it would probably annoy Hotori but he truly wanted to try that… He had to stop the grin from curling on his lips.
Hotori's gaze caught, for just a second, on the stone around Isamu's neck, and it made her smile, just slightly. Even if they could not openly be affectionate, that stone served as a silent reminder that she loved him, and the fact that he wore it showed the feelings were returned. It wasn't the shouting her happiness from the rooftops that she felt like doing, but it was more than enough for her. She watched him stretch lazily and grinned at his response.
"Sounds good to me."
"Good, because otherwise I might turn into one of those spoiled, bratty rich girls, and no one likes them..." The waitress came and took their food and drink orders, promising to return shortly with their food. Once she was gone, Hotori felt herself relaxing into the atmosphere of the restaurant and smiled contentedly as she looked at the place once more before patting Aya's head. She was sure, if she were a cat, she'd be purring happily too. Even if she couldn't reach out and touch Isamu, as she wanted to, simply being in his presence and knowing they were about to share a wonderful meal was enough tomake her happy.
“I even bought the notebook…”
Her attention was drawn to the waitress who returned with a beverage, apparently sent over from some woman. Did this sort of thing happen a lot to Isamu? He told her they could not drink it, and she nodded. She did not understand if it posed some sort of threat or if it was simply he dind't want to encourage whoever had sent it over, but she trusted him and so she would not question him now. She may, if she thought about it, ask him later, but for the present, she contented herself to continue their conversation. "That's fantastic." She said, her smile widening slightly. "That should make taking notes and organizing thoughts much easier." She kept her words vague on purpose, knowing Isamu would understand, but figuring anyone who overheard would think she was talking about school or her songwriting, or something like that.
The food arrived, and it was just as delicious as she had hoped it would be. "How do you find these places, Li-san?" She asked with a smile. "After dinner last night, and now this...I'm starting to think all of my favorite restaurants have just been mediocre all this time and I hadn't realized it." His mother's place was her new favorite restaurant, but she wasn't about to admit that out loud, though she still planned to send all the business she could to Tuturu-san.
She felt like keeping the conversation going, so she decided to tell him how her exam had gone. "I think the exam went well." She informed with a small smile. "Haru-kun and I finished about the same time, and he seemed to think it wasn't that hard either...just long." She shook her head, realizing she hadn't told him much about her friend. It was hard to explain, but part of her felt like Isamu should already know Haru and the others, like he'd been around them before. Perhaps it was another of those past life things, but she wasn't sure what he may or may not know, so she decided to tell him a little. "Haru-kun is working to become a doctor...a pediatrician, and since I'm going into education there are some classes, like child psychology, that we both have to take." She smiled. "Though he did tell me if this singing thing didn't work out, he'd be happy to hire me to answer phones in his office." She laughed softly at the inside joke, and hoped she wasn't boring Isamu with her talk.
Aya poked her nose over the edge of the table to sniff at the food her people were eating, but apparently nothing held any interest for her, so she jumped from Hotori's lap and began to meander around their little area, slapping playfully at the leaves of nearby plants and darting around their feet under the table.
"Good, because otherwise I might turn into one of those spoiled, bratty rich girls, and no one likes them…”
He grinned for a moment, but soon regained his usual cold demeanour. “I doubt that would ever happen Hotori-sama, a person must be comfortable with they way he or she is. There is nothing worse than becoming your own foe by simply not accepting who you are.” That was so true, he had seen it happen countless times, he had several customers before Hotori and none of them showed a personality like hers, so happy and sure of herself, no, she would not change and it pleased him to know so. He drank from his glass and kept on eating, it was difficult to act this way when all he wanted was to tease Hotori and converse with her but then again this was another test to their skills. He was a bodyguard, he could pull this one off… He watched Aya for a moment as she sniffed around and then left them to explore some more, he kept on eating until his plate was empty. Yes, this had been a great choice and he was glad he had come up with this place, he still could not believe his luck, it had been as he left Hotori’s manager’s office that he had dropped something and upon leaning to pick it up, the gleam of something caught his eye. When standing up he turned to the right and the sunlight was shining though the crystals and a lot of people was coming and going so, it had to be good. His instinct probed him right.
He sense Hotori relax and he smiled as he cleaned his mouth with his napkin and finished his drink. After deciding he was satisfied he sat back and sighed, there was nothing better than a good meal, right? He noticed people were all having fun and his attention turned back to that glass, who could have done this? It was also rather improper to offer alcohol to someone who had to drive and was on duty, did he not look like a bodyguard for goodness sake? He felt greatly insulted and wished he know who and done this so he could give them a piece of his mind. He frowned but decided to shift his attention back at Hotori as she spoke. It was best to leave it as it was, otherwise the lady would think he was interested, even though he obviously wasn’t.
“That’s fantastic… That should make taking notes and organizing thoughts much easier.”
He nodded, he was glad she also picked her words carefully, if they kept working that way they would make a good team and that pleased him greatly. “I believe so too.” He watched her as she ate, it was funny to realise now even though he had seen her eat before, she looked so sweet when she ate, when she did anything really. She was happy and her smile made her look even more beautiful in his eyes. How on earth did he deserve her affections? What did he do in his previous life that had won her heart?
“How do you find these places, Li-san? After dinner last night, and now this...I'm starting to think all of my favorite restaurants have just been mediocre all this time and I hadn't realized it.”
He grinned and said folding his arms across his chest, “I happen to have a very intuitive mind, my customers never complained on this accord and I am glad to see I have not lost my touch.” Oh he was proud of himself all right, not only because he had not lost his touch, but rather since he could make Hotori so happy. They would manage he was sure, even if they had to hide their mutual affections from the world, in the confinements of the apartment they could share moments of bliss.
“I think the exam went wel… Haru-kun and I finished about the same time, and he seemed to think it wasn't that hard either...just long… Haru-kun is working to become a doctor...a pediatrician, and since I'm going into education there are some classes, like child psychology, that we both have to take… Though he did tell me if this singing thing didn't work out, he'd be happy to hire me to answer phones in his office.”
He smirked at that and then looked at her for a moment, “Forgive my bluntness Hotori-sama, but you would make a lousy assistant. You would be unable to control yourself around children, I imagine you would be with them as you are with Aya here…” He grinned feeling the cat’s fur move through his legs while the cat passed through and meowed as if to agree and increase the intensity of this little teasing commentary. To be honest, he believed she would be great at anything she set her mind to. But lately he found it amusing to either watch her blush or get a little bit irritated with his jokes. Not that she did not tease him though, it was always like that…
He sighed and closed his eyes for a moment before he grinned, “I believe we must return to your chores, Hotori-sama, but I hope this meal was to your liking.” He slowly got up and waited for her to do the same, he opened the cage for Aya to go inside and after licking his hand she did so without hesitance. He smiled and closed the cage lifting the cat and leading her out of the restaurant. After paying the bill he led her to the motorbike and he began to fasten the cage to the motorbike before he gave Hotori her helmet and he took his. Yet, before he put his on he turned to look back in the direction of the restaurant and his eyes narrowed, he thought long about the meal they had enjoyed and the offer of an alcoholic beverage, if he knew any better, whoever got that drink for him might have even poisoned it since the woman who paid it for him never showed her face, which was a smart thing to do since Isamu would be after her if she harmed his miko. He raised an eyebrow, his what? Miko? What was that all about? She shook his head and then put on his helmet and got on the motorbike waiting for Hotori to be ready.
It was when looking through a side mirror that he realised there were people in two black cars looking at them and a motorbike with its rider casually leaning as if waiting for someone. He cursed under his breath and said, “Hotori-sama, hold on tighter than ever… I’m afraid this won’t be an enjoyable ride…”
Before she had time to even question his actions he took off at a great speed and quickly took a right turn just before the lights went red, looking behind them he noticed the cars and motorbike skipped the red lights, just as he thought, “Hang on!” his hair shook violently free despite his helmet due to the speed. He was glad he had fastened the cage so that Aya would not get hurt. But he knew that this ride would not be nice for the cat. With one hand he drove while with the other he began to untie the cage, “Hotori, when we get past Tuturu-san’s restaurant leave the cage by the entrance, she will understand and will take care of Aya, I’m afraid this will be too rough for a kitten…” He spoke loudly through the wind that sneaked through the helmets and turned to give their pursuers one last look.
He would try and lose them so that they did not know where Hotori lived. He gritted his teeth in anger, who was this? What was the point in this? He noticed a familiar street and he quickly moved to the pedestrian part of the road, people skilled him in fear and he sighed, he hated having to resort to this but he could not risk and damage to his charge and love. He then shouted, “Drop the cage, now!” they were reaching some bushes near the restaurant, Aya would land safely there.
“Forgive my bluntness Hotori-sama, but you would make a lousy assistant. You would be unable to control yourself around children, I imagine you would be with them as you are with Aya here…”
Hotori crossed her arms in mock annoyance, but her eyes still sparkled, able to tell he was only teasing her. "Watch it, Li-san." She warned, pointing a finger at him. "Besides, I don't see anything wrong with how I treat Aya-chan..." She supposed she did let the cat get away with whatever she liked, but she was a cat...wasn't that what they did anyway?
She finished her meal, and nodded when Isamu told her they could get back to her chores. She did have a lot of work to do at home, and she wanted to cook dinner for Isamu, to thank him for making breakfast that morning. She stood and watched as Aya happily walked into her carrier, something Hotori had never been able to get her to do so willingly, and then followed her beloved out to his motorbike, after he settled their bill. She watched as he tied Aya's cage to the motorbike and then accepted her helmet, getting on when he was ready for her to. She hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary, though she had spotted someone else on a motorbike, but had thought nothing of it, so she was quite surprised when Isamu spoke up again.
“Hotori-sama, hold on tighter than ever… I’m afraid this won’t be an enjoyable ride…”
Had it been anyone else, Hotori would've questioned the order, but this was Isamu and she trusted his judgement completely. She gave a quick nod before wrapping both arms around him and holding on for dear life. They took off far faster than she would've expected, and she was glad she had instantly listened to him, or she might've gotten hurt.
She looked over her shoulder as they sped of, and realized that they were being followed by the rider on the motorbike and two cars she hadn't noticed. What did they want? Were they after her or Isamu? She couldnt' think what they'd want with her, as they didn't look like her usual fans, but she also couldn't think of who may be after Isamu or why. He used one hand to untie the cage containing Aya, and handed it back to her.
“Hotori, when we get past Tuturu-san’s restaurant leave the cage by the entrance, she will understand and will take care of Aya, I’m afraid this will be too rough for a kitten… Drop the cage, now!”
This was simply insane. All of it. Had someone turned her life into an action movie and not told her? She dropped the cage when instructed, and didn't look back to see how it had landed. If Aya was hurt, she didn't think she could bear to know just then. She wrapped her other arm around him once more, and tried to look back and see if they were still being followed. They were.
"Maybe I should try to call the police or something...." She shouted the suggestion to be heard over the wind and the other sounds of the motorbike on the road. It wouldn't work, of course. Her phone was in her bag, which was put away, and she doubted they should stop long enough for her to get it out.
She had no doubt that Isamu would make sure she made it safely out of this situation, but she was still frightened and confused. She didn't know if these people meant her harm, or who they were or what they wanted, but she had a feeling, given that they were chasing them, that their motives could not be good.
She wanted to go home, lock herself away and feel safe with Isamu, but she knew they couldn't head straight home...otherwise they'd know where she lived. Her heart thudded as adrenaline pulsed through her veins, and her arms tightened slightly around Isamu, though she tried not to squeeze tight enough to hurt him. He wouldn't be a good protector if she bruised his ribs. She closed her eyes, intent to send up a small prayer for their safety. 'Suzaku, preserve us...' Wait...who? Suzaku? As in those old Chinese myths? It puzzled her, as it felt like something she'd said or thought in the past, but she didn't have the attention span to analyze it. Too much of her mind was focused on what was happening around them, and hoping Isamu would get them to safety.
”Watch it, Li-san… Besides, I don't see anything wrong with how I treat Aya-chan…”
He sighed once they went past Tuturu-san’s restaurant and hoped the cat would be fine. He looked at his side mirror and could see his adoptive mother immediately exiting the restaurant and making her way to the cage here Aya was and he shied relieved. He frowned knowing they were still chasing them and he was struggling to come up with an idea that might work and ensure their safety. They went under a tunnel and he remembered there was this construction zone, they could certainly lose them there. He would have to protect Hotori form the fall but it was the only way he could think of gong back home safe and sound, he did not know why they were being followed nor how Hotori or himself could be victims of someone’s displeasure or why anyone would want to hurt them or kidnap them but he shrugged the thought off, he was after all a bodyguard so he had to show he was one of the best at what he did. Hotori probably already knew that but he felt the need to confirm he was skilled.
"Maybe I should try to call the police or something….”
Isamu laughed looking behind them as their pursuers got closer, “You are with one of the best bodyguards, besides, what could we say? We are suddenly being chased? Leave this to me for now… Just concentrate on being safe. Otherwise I am out of a job.” He was trying to be humorous to ensure Hotori did not worry to much about this experience. He did not want her to lose focus, he would probably give her one last order before they had to do as he planned. He ensured that once they left the tunnel he could take the next right, they went over a bridge that had three lanes and he constantly changed of lane to ensure the cards had a harder time reaching them, although the person on the motorbike seemed to be catching up nevertheless.
It was then he realised that the person on the motorbike had a gun in her hands and so he quickly pressed a button on the wheel and his bike emitted a king of fog and he could see the woman cursing and having to stop at a traffic light. He sighed relieved but was angered, they had guns? What was the meaning of this? just as they left the bridge he was slightly shocked when one of the cars seemed to be waiting for them and, for some reason, he felt as if Hotori was praying or doing something of the sort and suddenly, as if by magic, his body was enveloped in a red light and his hand extended and he froze the car and the people inside. What?!
He gasped and kept on driving although he was a bit less concentrated now to realise they were at the construction site. He pressed a few more buttons and then he said, “Hotori, move to sit in front of me now!” He tried to help her with one hand, they had little time to lose. The memories of what he just did still confused him greatly, but, he would look into that later, right now there was no time to waste and once he was sure that Hotori was siting in front of him he pressed another button and he jumped off the motorbike with Hotori in his arms and he ensured to roll on the floor so that they would not get hurt, however, as they were about to land he realised that Hotori’s back was headed straight to a sharp tile and he quickly rolled one more time and winced when he felt his shoulder hit the tile and blood began to ooze out of the cut on his back. Yet something inside him made him even more protective of Hotori. The light that surrounded him faded and he saw nearby a place they could hide in. He slid inside puling Hotori gently to him and he held her lovingly, “Make no noise, my love.” His whisper disappeared at the sound of a crash, he grinned though, his motorbike was so useful at situations such as these. He hoped Hotori did not know he was wounded, he did not want to worry her, they had to evade the enemy. He held her tighter but not to hurt her, “I’ll keep you safe…” he whispered at the sound of a car and the motorbike.
The rider jumped off her bike and ran to look down at the cliff. She saw flames and frowned, so that was how respectable bodyguards solved their problems? She was not to happy nor was she entirely convinced that had happened. A voice came out behind her, “Well? Where are they?” for some reason that voice sounded familiar, Isamu frowned, where had he heard it before? He moved slightly more to lay hidden and pulled Hotori with him when that man jumped off the car and laughed, “So, are they dead?” The woman shrugged, “Everything indicates they have, however, I doubt a eel-known bodyguard would not risk his very life to keep his charge safe, so I fid it strange that both would have fallen to their deaths…”
As the man approached the woman Isamu clenched his teeth when he saw who the man talking was, it was…Hotori’s manager? He felt anger and he shook in annoyance. And then the manager said, “I will pay you for your good job on the morrow. In the meantime I will go back to the office and call Hotori to ensure this little test did not go bad. After all, I want to see for myself just how effective this bodyguard was… You never know with such perfect reputations, although, I will confess, I am rather impress with his work.”
The woman nodded, “He is as good as they say, I did not expect his instances nor the sped with which he counterattacked the use of a shotgun. Your singer is very lucky.” The man nodded and then got back in the car and they all left. Isamu winced and once he was sure everyone was gone he said, “It is safe to come out now…” He waited for Hotori to get out of their hideout and then he moved out. His dark purple silken shirt was tainted on the back by the blood he had already lost. He fell on one knee, that bastard… who told him he could treat Isamu this way and just launch a surprise chase to see if he was as good as his reputation preceded?
He painted and lowered his head, his hands closed into fists but he managed to control his anger. Soon enough the motorbike in autopilot returned to them and he tried to stand up again, “Are you well Hotori?” He placed a hand on the shoulder where his back had been injured and slowly got to his feet and moved toward the motorbike. He offered her a hand, “Lets…” he closed his eyes for a moment and just managed to sit on the pilot seat when he finished, “Lets go home…”
He could hardly wait to go to her manager’s office and give him a piece of his mind. “Do not worry, it is in auto-pilot, so it will get us home safe…” If only he had something he could use to tie it to his wound to stop him losing more blood. His vision blurred and he knew that they had to get home sooner rather than later. Lucky for them the flat was not too far away from here. Once they got back and he parked the bike and the removed their helmets, he tried to get to of the bike but, the moment he reach safe ground he fell on his knees with a deep wince and he felt rather dizzy and light.
“You are with one of the best bodyguards, besides, what could we say? We are suddenly being chased? Leave this to me for now… Just concentrate on being safe. Otherwise I am out of a job."All these were thoughts Hotori had experienced as soon as the suggestion left her lips. She hoped Isamu didn't think she doubted his skills...she just honestly had no idea what to do in such an insane situation. She appreciated his attempt at humor and did chuckle a bit. She wanted to toss some flirty comment back at him, but it wasn't really the time for that. Besides, Hotori had no experience at being flirty, despite what Isamu's nickname of 'Enchantress' might imply. She was snapped back to the current moment when it seemed several things happened so fast she could barely keep track. She realized the person on the motorbike had a gun, and Isamu pushed something on his bike which caused some sort of smoke screen. The real shock came when, as they came of the bridge, one of the cars seemed to be waiting for them, and Isamu...froze them. Hotori had no idea how that could be possible. She felt a brief flash of memory from that past life where she had witnessed him doing the same thing in battle. It was his Seishi ability, though she didn't know how she knew that, or what a Seishi was. "That was...cool." She said, and then realized her unintentional pun. She wondered if Isamu had known he could do that, or if he was as surprised as she was. It was something they'd have to discuss when they weren't being chased by a bunch of nutjobs. “Hotori, move to sit in front of me now!”Move? While they were moving? Hotori took a deep breath and did as he requested as quickly as she dared. She was starting to wonder, with all of the adrenaline in her system, if her heartrate would ever return to normal. Still, she trusted Isamu with her life-literally, in this case-and knew he'd do all he could to protect her. So she did as he asked and mentally prepared herself for what was to come next. He jumped off the bike and took her with him. The pair rolled over and over again, and she instinctively ducked in, curling herself close to Isamu and gripping at him as best she could to keep them from getting separated as they rolled. Once they stopped, he quickly pulled her into a hiding place and spoke in a soft tone. “Make no noise, my love. I’ll keep you safe…"Hotori gave a nod, but remained silent as instructed. Still, she clung to Isamu, feeling her heart pounding. She could hear a car arrive and knew this would be the deciding moment. She'd finally find out who was after them and why. She hoped she would, at least. She heard voices and strained to listen, though instantly she recognized one of them as Sakano-san, her manager. “Well? Where are they? So, are they dead?”
“Everything indicates they have, however, I doubt a eel-known bodyguard would not risk his very life to keep his charge safe, so I fid it strange that both would have fallen to their deaths…”
“I will pay you for your good job on the morrow. In the meantime I will go back to the office and call Hotori to ensure this little test did not go bad. After all, I want to see for myself just how effective this bodyguard was… You never know with such perfect reputations, although, I will confess, I am rather impress with his work.”
“He is as good as they say, I did not expect his instances nor the sped with which he counterattacked the use of a shotgun. Your singer is very lucky.”Hotori shook with anger. They could've both been hurt or killed. What was the meaning of this? She had been very tempted to move from her hiding spot and confront the moron right then and there. Isamu held her close, though, and she decided it was best to wait. She would make sure that they both made it home safe, and then she'd focus on giving her manager a piece of her mind. When they left, she followed Isamu out of their hiding spot, and noticed for the first time that he was injured. He fell to one knee, and she rushed to his side, placing a hand on his uninjured shoulder. The motorbike returned, and he stood, moving toward it and taking her hand. “Are you well Hotori? Lets… Lets go home… Do not worry, it is in auto-pilot, so it will get us home safe…”"I'm fine." She assured. "Mad as hell, but uninjured..." She looked at him again before getting on the bike with him. "Which is more than I can say for you. I'm so, so sorry, my love, that that horrible man did this..." She nodded to his idea to go home, and got onto the bike with him. She was glad they were close to her home, as soon enough Isamu had parked the bike. She took the keys for the motorbike from him, and quickly moved to get their things and lock it up before turning to Isamu just in time to see him land on his knees. That wound must be worse than he was trying to act like it was. She moved to his side and knelt by him. "Come along, darling." She said gently, pulling one of his arms across her shoulder to help support him. "Let's get you upstairs so I can patch that up." She hoped he'd be able to walk with her help, as she didn't think she could make it up to her apartment by herself. "I'm so sorry Isamu...it seems you're always getting hurt because of me..." That felt like something she'd said to him before. Perhaps it was another flash of that strange past life. She shook the thought off and headed for the elevator, knowing it would be the quickest way up. She was grateful when they reached her door undisturbed, as she wasn't sure she could explain what had just happened to them. Still supporting her love, she pulled her keys from her bag and went to unlock the door, already trying to remember her basic first aid skills to try and tend to the wound. The key didn't work. Hotori stared at it for a moment. No, it was the right key...she hadn't accidentally tried to use her aunt's key or Shouri's key on the door. She tried it again. Nothing. This was just great! What was going on? She began to panic slightly as she tried every key on her keyring, hoping one would work. She didn't want Isamu to bleed to death in the hallway just because she was too dumb to unlock a door... Hotori heard Isamu chuckle softly, and suddenly remembered new locks had been on his 'to do' list for her apartment. She snatched the keys from his hand and unlocked the door. "Honestly, is now the best time to tease me like that?" She asked, though she wasn't as upset as she pretended. In truth, if she hadn't been worried, it would've been funny. She helped Isamu inside, and quickly locked the door behind them before helping him toward her bedroom. "I've got a first aid kit in my bathroom..." She explained. She helped him set down on the bed before finally stepping away from him. "Off with the shirt." She ordered as she turned toward the bathroom. It was a quick matter to find the kit, get a warm cloth to clean it with, and return to the bedroom. "Let me see it, love." She said gently, indicating he should lie down on the bed so she could tend the wound.
”That was…cool.”
He chuckled at her words, although he was not sure where that had come from. IN fact something inside his mind kept telling him it was a skill he had as a Seishi, but what was a Seishi? A guardian? Him? And if he was that who was he meant to protect? He had never experienced this before, it was strange, it was a sir he could easily connect his past life with this incident, and it had been lying dormant within him. He sighed, too many questions that needed to be answered and he was certain that Hotori would make a remark about this little incident. He did not mind, in truth he was prepared but they would have to wait for later, he was not sure what had happened so there was little they could discuss on the matter. He wondered though if she had remembered something he could not.
He was glad that all this time she did as he requested, no questions asked. She trusted him, and it made him smile. He could not avoid thinking that they were quite a good team… It was true though. In all the time he had been a bodyguard he had never had a protege cooperate as nicely as Hotori had, he was certain that was one of the reasons he loved her deeply. Sadly their little adventure did not end without casualties but, in all honesty, Isamu rather carry with the wounds than allow Hotori have a single scratch in her body. He was her bodyguard after all, it was his duty to take the shots for her if he had to. It was how truly selfless this profession was and not many valued the lives of those sacrificed for their customers.
Hotori was different though, and he knew that she would never take him for granted even if they had not fallen in love almost instantly, he knew she was someone whom he would never come across in a million years. She was the beautiful flower found in the middle of the desert. And he loved her far more deeply than he ever thought possible in such a short period of time, for he was the man lucky enough to find her and earn her affections.
Even as they waited for their pursuers to leave he could feel Hotori’s body shaking but he knew it was not fear but anger, rage, had he not been holding her against him she would have probably come out of her hiding and kick her manager for what he did. He did not blame her though, he was as angry himself, but that would then ruin the whole purpose of this chase it seemed, they were testing him… It was a big strike to his pride and he was as offended as could be, the only reason he did not quit his job now was because he loved Hotori and could not leave her in the hands of such a calamity…
"I'm fine… Mad as hell, but uninjured...Which is more than I can say for you. I'm so, so sorry, my love, that that horrible man did this…”
He immediately got up once she placed her hand on his shoulder and he moved away form her touch, they might as well be spying them still and he did not want anyone to think there was something going on between them and he hoped Hotori’s intuition told her this, however he whispered as they put on their helmets to leave, “Let us go home, then we will talk Hotori, I do not trust that manager…” He hoped his words hinted at what he meant before he led her back home. Once there in all honesty he hoped he would be strong enough to at least reach the apartment. He was so grateful when Hotori took the keys of the motorbike form him and took their belongings before locking it, he would have been unable to do so and as he knelt on the floor he was relieved he was not dropping blood on the floor, he did not want to drag attention to their situation, especially when it had been her manage the one to organise this ridiculous and pointless chase.
“Come along, darling… Let’s get you upstairs so I can patch that up…I’m so sorry Isamu...it seems you're always getting hurt because of me…”
He gasped almost as if he could see himself in a dungeon with several wounds and cuts and Hotori kneeling beside him, saying the exact same words… He blinked though and then he shook his head as he heard Hotori’s words, he stood up with her help and did his best not to lay all his weight on his love, he did not want to hurt her or make this any more difficult than it already was. He used his hand to lean on the walls as well and he felt almost as if he were about to pass out, no, he had to keep on going. They were almost in the apartment, he could not be weak now or else what would Hotori think of the man she calmed to love? He managed to whisper, “It is my duty and my wish to protect you Hotori, even if I end up getting hurt in the process, there is nothing worth more in this world to me than you, you are my treasure and my dream.”
It was when leaning on the wall and watching her attempt to open the door when he chuckled and held out the new keys for her. He had almost forgotten about that little joke of his and he had to amid that almost made him forget how injured he was, he was laughing softly. It would have been better if he had never gotten injured but, he still found the humour of the situation and he suspected Hotori did to even though she did not show it since she was worried for his sake.
“Honestly, is now the best time to tease me like that?”
“It is… I already knew we would go through a fun chase and I would get beaten up… so definitely the best moment for a laugh.” He was bluffing but who wouldn’t at this stage? IN any case he had been planing to tease her with that little joke of his so surely now was as good as ever.
“I’ve got a first aid kit in my bathroom...Off with the shirt…Let me see it, love.”
He thanked her when she helped him reach his room and without second thought he unbuttoned the bloodstained shirt and winced when it scratched at the wound as e removed it, pulling some dry blood with the movement. He sighed feeling more dizzy and he managed to find the bed with his hands before he lied on his stomach. He disliked feeling so helpless…
He then closed his eyes and tried to relax and stay away as she approached him and spoke. If he kept awake it would be more helpful than blacking out… he did not want Hotori to panic… “Hotori…” he whispered.
“It is… I already knew we would go through a fun chase and I would get beaten up… so definitely the best moment for a laugh.”"You knew, huh?" Hotori asked, skepticism in her tone as she helped Isamu inside and locked the door after them before helping him to his room. "Well, then let me say now that, though that was exciting, I much prefer candy and flowers on a date." She spared him a small, playful smile. "You know...for future reference..." She was glad he obeyed her instructions to remove his shirt and lie down so she could treat his wound. She settled beside him on the bed, and set to work cleaning and dressing the wound. It was nasty looking, and she wasn't sure her little first aid kit would be enough. She'd just have to do what she could...maybe she could talk him into going to see a doctor...or letting her call Haru. He was almost a doctor, after all. As she worked, she proceeded to tell her beloved her amended plans for the afternoon. "As soon as we've got you squared away, I'm calling up that idiot Sakano and giving him a sound piece of my mind. I don't know what he was playing at, but I'm having no part of it." She sniffed, annoyed as she focused on what she was doing, trying to be gentle with her work even though she was still angry with her manager. "I may even make an appointment to see the company president. Maybe I can get a new manager if I tell him what happened..." Hotori applied antiseptic and antibiotic before applying bandages. She didn't have any bandages large enough to cover it, so she settled for cotton gauze and medical tape, trying to make it look as neat and professional as possible. Once that was done she packed the remaining supplies and set the kit aside before placing a hand on Isamu's cheek. "How do you feel my love?" She brushed some of his hair aside and sighed as she looked down at him. He was weak, she could tell, and probably lightheaded. Rest would be the best thing for him, but could she convince him to? Her hand gently moved to rest on his back, far enough away from the injury that she wouldn't cause him pain. Hotori looked up suddenly when her home phone line started ringing. She leaned over and checked the caller ID, frowning in confusion for a moment before answering. "Haru-kun? You must've known I was just thinking about you..." "All good thoughts, I hope." Her friend's teasing tone replied. "Open up, I'm in the hall and that key you gave me isn't working." "New locks." SHe answered simply. "I'll be right there." She hung up the phone and moved to get up. "Haru-kun is here." She told Isamu gently. "Don't you even think of getting up and putting on some tough front." She told him, stern but still gentle. She stood beside the bed, and leaned over to give him a quick kiss. "Please just rest, okay love?" She left the room, pulling the door mostly closed behind her, but leaving it open a little so she could hear if Isamu needed anything. She went to the door, and looked out the peephole, trusting that it was her friend, but still feeling a little shaken after the high-speed chase. Haru seemed to sense her at the peephole and waved cheerfully. She smiled before letting her friend in, and quickly locking the door once more behind him. "New locks, huh? And you're actually using them?" His look shifted to concern once more. "Did something happen? Another break-in?" "No, everything's fine." Hotori lied. She didn't want to get into all that had happened that afternoon. "Just following Li-san's advice and trying to keep myself safe so you guys don't worry so much." "You're still a terrible liar." Haru informed her. Hotori rolled her eyes. "Did you just come to bother me, or...?" "I came to give you this." He reached into one of his coat pockets and held out a CD she'd loaned him a while back. "Sei finally got his own copy, so I figured I'd return yours." "That could've waited until you saw me at school..." Hotori reminded him. She knew Isamu hadn't wanted anyone to find out about them just yet, and she wasn't sure if that meant just their relationshop, or the fact that he was living with her now. "I forgot earlier. And since I was in the area..." Haru bounced a bag of shopping as an excuse. "So, you were thinking about me, huh? What's up?" He grinned teasingly. "Mr. Hottie not so hot after all? Though you know you're not really my type, little duck." Hotori blushed faintly. "Shut up!" She hissed at her friend, eyes darting at Idamu's door, and hoping he hadn't heard. "What?" Haru laughed. "It's not like he's here to hear me..." And then he saw her blush deepen. "Or is he?" He waggled a teasing finger at her. "Hotori-chan...so soon?" Before she could formulate a response, however, Haru seemed to catch sight of something on her white shirt. "Hotori," He said seriously. "Is that blood? What's happened?" Hotori looked down at where he pointed, and sure enough she had a small stain there. She must've gotten it when she was helping Isamu inside. She debated some lie, but Haru knew how horrible she was at lying, and anyway she was worried about Isamu, and having a better trained pair of eyes take a look at him couldn't hurt. She gave him a brief run-down of events, leaving out anything that alluded to their relationship or the weird ice...thing Isamu had done. Her eyes darted back toward Isamu's room, and she hoped he wouldn't be too angry with her for telling Haru. The fact was, she trusted Haru with her life...almost as much as she trusted Isamu, and like with Isamu, it had been an instant connection. Haru dropped his shopping onto the couch and pulled off his coat, tossing it aside and rolling up his sleeves as he started for Isamu's room. "Good thing I stopped by. I'd better have a look." Hotori moved ahead of him, entering the room before her friend. "Haru-kun is going to look at the wound while he's here..." She told Isamu, silently pleading that he wouldn't be too angry for her letting Haru in on at least some of their secrets. "Geeze, Little Duck, did you have to be so rough on the new guy?" Haru teased as he stood in the door, waiting for Isamu to consent before he entered and tried to treat him. He could tell already that there'd been a good bit of bloodloss, and he had a deep seeded feeling that a simple first aid kit wouldn't quite be enough. It really was a good thing he'd stopped by...
