Sumiko, however she may act outwardly, was no fool. She chose not to say anything at the time, but she caught the fire in the young Miko's eyes, and soon saw it returned in her son's. There were definitely sparks of some sort between the two, and she knew from experience that, however they started, any spark could turn into a romantic one if the circumstances were favorable. Hayate had many women vie for his attention in the past few years, and though he was polite with them, and could be flattering, he had never showed any real interest...and as his mother, she would be able to tell. She's seen more life in her son, just over the course of this short meal, than she ever had before when he was in the company of a young lady. Ne never dared to tease any of the noble women, and would've stormed out of the room if one of them had dared to tease him, as Gina had. No, the Empress was sure there was something there...and she wanted to ensure it grew. It would be good for the both of them, she was sure. Hayate walked along with Yori, Gina following behind them. He was glad she'd accepted his offered escort, as he would've felt bad leaving her alone with Daichi and his mother. He didn't think Daichi would say or do anything improper in front of his mother, but he could tell the man made Gina uncomfortable. "Oh!" Yori said suddenly. "I forgot to tell you, and I suppose Mother did too, but when I told her you thought the Miko had arrived, she said she'd have to hold a ball for her." She beamed. "Gina-chan will be the guest of honor, and Mother will invite all the noble families to attend." "All of them?" Hayate asked. He could think of one father-daughter duo he'd rather not see. The girl was a couple years younger than him, and had tried to sink her claws into him almost from the time she was born. He was nice to her because he had to be, but he'd rather avoid dealing with her if at all possible... "Of course." Yori continued. "IF she didn't, she would offend someone, and we can't have that." "No, we can't..." Hayate mentally sighed. Perhaps they wouldn't arrive too early, or stay too long to visit. At least with Gina there, he could claim the Miko needed his attention, and hopefully that would buy him a little breathing room. They reached the wing containing their rooms, and Hayate turned to face Gina as they reached her door. "Mei will come wake you for breakfast, unless you would rather send for some when you wake up. If you are serious about going to the dojo in the morning, I can have some training clothes sent up for you." Hiden wasn't much taller than Gina, so something of his should fit her. They had never had a woman visit the dojo before, not to train at least, so he hoped the men would behave themselves...assuming his father didn't dismiss them all to give her privacy. He cleared his throat. "Rest well, Gina-chan. If you need anything, Yori is right next door..." He paused for a moment before adding "...And my room is just across the hall." It wasn't likely she'd seek him out, should she need anything. She didn't seem to, as a whole, enjoy his company. Yori took a step toward Gina, and Hayate guided her forward so she could hug the older woman. "Goodnight, Gina-chan." She smiled up at her. "Don't waste all day with Nii-san and those sweaty men, alright? I want to spend some time with my new friend too." She gave one more quick hug before she moved back to head for her room. Hayate gave one last nod to Gina before following her. He entered Yori's room, and looked around. "There seems to be a spot on the shelf just right for your new toy." She had a built in floor-to-ceiling bookcase that she put many of her toys an sfuffed animals on. "Right next to that panda Father got you." "Oh, that sounds perfect." She handed the fox over so Hayate could put it on the shelf for her. He was about to tell her to get ready for bed, and he'd return in a moment to tell her a story when she surprised him by speaking up first. "Oh, Nii-san, I forgot to give Gina-chan her new bracelet." She frowned as she pulled it from her pocket. "Can you take it to her, and let her know it's from me?" Hayate raised an eyebrow. Surely Gina wouldn't think he was giving it to her, after all. "Wouldn't you rather give it to her at breakfast tomorrow?" Yori shook her head. "I want her to have it tonight." She pouted slightly as she held it out. "Pretty please, Nii-san?" Hayate sighed. Sometimes he didn't understand how her mind worked. "Very well, I'll take it to her now." She had said she was tired, but she shouldn't be asleep that quickly. He took the bracelet, and leaned down to kiss his sister's forehead. "Get ready for bed and I'll come tell you a story soon..." She nodded excitedly and turned to do so as he slipped out of the room. Hayate moved to Gina's door, and raised his hand to knock, but hesitated. Would she be mad he was bothering her again? Surely not since it was at the request of Yori, and surely she'd understand he couldn't simply deny the child anything she asked of him. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, he knocked on the door, and called out softly. "Gina-chan?"

Gina felt much more like herself once they left the dinning room and she only hoped she had not been too rude or improper to the Empress or her lover but there was something about him, something dark, and she felt truly uncomfortable in his presence. Maybe it had also had something to do with him looking at her from the gardens and then surprising her on the corridors. She shivered lightly as she remembered this but she concentrated on smiling and then looking ahead of her at lovely Yori and her brother. It was both beautiful and amazing that Hayate loved Yori so much, she had seen in her world and the history books that seldom siblings showed love for each other, especially among royalty where everyone wanted to rule the kingdom, so it was even less likely that half-siblings would even feel anything for each other, if at all. So it did make her aware that Hayate had to be much more than he portrayed and she was rather curious to find out what that could be like. But he was concealed over sarcasm and mysticism and it was hard to break the shell. In fact, she wondered if she ever would. In a way it made her wish just a bit that…she were a bit loveably like Yori truly was. Most of the time he was arrogant and narcissist and did not leave much room for free interpretation. She even felt a bit bad when she teased him for being serious, it had t be difficult being the Crown Prince, he and all these duties and obligations and on top if it all there was a reputation he had to withhold so his people would remain by his side. She had read how many monarchs or Princes lost the people’s support for trivial mistakes and once lost it was difficult, nearly impossible to get it back. And also, he had to protect his sister and set a good example and with the mother he had, although Sumiko was a lovely person, someone had to keep a cold head. She looked at her hand for a moment, did Hayate sense this and that was why he protected her from Daichi? She blushed lightly and looked back at the dark corridors before she looked back at the path they followed.
Back at the dinning room, she was more than sure she could punch him for irking her and now, she felt a strange sensation of peace and affectedness. She was utterly confused but for now she decided to ignore these thoughts a bit and concentrate instead on the many paintings about them as they pressed on, “Are these all past Emperors and what not?” She realised she and voiced her thoughts and felt ridiculous, she knew about history and certainly these were persons of the like. However, she did not know anything about the history of this kingdom. “Hayate-kun, could you…teach me about the history of Hokkan? If I am to help this land I need to know as much as possible.” Would he raise his eyebrow and as her if she thought him her walking library or something…She knew he was a bit irritable at times even when she spoke with no malice. it would either be that or he would ignore her. He seemed avid to do so at times and it made her blood boil. Then Yori seemed to stop for a moment as if she remembered something she and not told them and she reached them and walked alongside them. The smile in Yori’s face…surely whatever she would request of Gina she would say yes immediately and she smiled at her.
“Oh! I forgot to tell you, and I suppose Mother did too, but when I told her you thought the Miko had arrived, she said she'd have to hold a ball for her…Gina-chan will be the guest of honor, and Mother will invite all the noble families to attend."
"All of them?"
"Of course…IF she didn't, she would offend someone, and we can't have that."
"No, we can’t…”
She stopped cold and then looked at them in disbelief, “A ball…in my honour?” They probably found her reaction strange but for someone who had never had anything this important done for her, someone of such humble upbringing, this was something that could even make her cry of happiness. she had always wanted to wear very nice clothes and be the centre of attention if just once. And her smile made her face more jovial and her eyes paroled like the jewels she wore, “Sumiko is so sweet!” But then, her joy was depending on her actually being the miko. What if she was not the one they had been waiting for? She began to walk again and looked ahead unwilling to share her doubts with Yori nearby, even Hayate. What would they think of her if she was a fraud? But she was not trying to be one…She just did not know what she could be doing here if she were not the miko and she had yet to find any abilities of hers although she did realise that she could sense if Hayate was nearby and she knew who it was that was close to her, was that a skill she developed as a child or was that a miko skill? Oh but the lights, the music, the food, the company and the dancing, she adored dancing and would love for an excuse to delight the people here with her actually skills. And, she slightly blushed and covered her mouth when she silently giggled, she had to admit she was curious as to how Hayate would dress to such occasion, he would certainly look his part. And Yori, she would look magnificent. Yet, their last words had her wonder, who were they talking about? Who was this ‘she’ Hayate disliked so much?
So far they had disliked the same people so she had an inkling she would not like this girl either…And, she had an uncomfortable feeing she was going to meet her sooner rather than later. She sighed and then proceeded. She almost gasped in surprise when she realised they had reached her room already. She smiled at the both of them and was about to wish them a good night when Hayate beat her to it, it seemed he was used to ordering everyone around, but for now, she would remain silent to show him she was grateful for saving her back at the dining room and secreted her to her dormitory, though, would that stop that strange man from annoying her if he chose to? She shrugged the thoughts and then did her best to concentrate on what the Crown Prince was saying instead.
”Mei will come wake you for breakfast, unless you would rather send for some when you wake up. If you are serious about going to the dojo in the morning, I can have some training clothes sent up for you.”
She nodded to his words and said, “I would be happy to greet Mei in the morning and if she brings breakfast as she comes that would be best.” Although…usually she made breakfast for her family at home, maybe she could get up at the usual early hour and give Mei a break from making breakfast and bringing it around? She could also show her gratitude with Hayate’s family for all they had been doing thus far. Yes, she would do that, “Although, I would prefer sleeping a bit more before gong to the dojo, worry not I will ask for breakfast once I wake up.” To his last words she grinned and said, “And I ‘will’ go to the dojo, sorry to disappoint you there.” She smiled at him though, unsure as to why she was controlling her stubbornness, maybe it was because Yori was there. No, the moment both shared someone they disliked they had a bit of kinship so for now she would be a bit more agreeable than during their meal. “I would appreciate the clothes for it though.” She couldn’t possibly use these clothes every day and for every activity. Although she found the thought amusing it would be an offence to the royal family and she would stink and then Hayate would have reasons to laugh at her.
“Rest well, Gina-chan. If you need anything, Yori is right next door...And my room is just across the hall.”
“Thank you Hayate-kun, sleep well and may tomorrow be a wonderful day for you and Yori.” She embraced Yori and kissed her cheeks smiling. She almost shook her head at how much she and come to love Yori like a sister she had never had.
“Goodnight, Gina-chan…Don’t waste all day with Nii-san and those sweaty men, alright? I want to spend some time with my new friend too.”
Gina smiled at Yori and said pulling back, “I would not trade spending time with my favourite Koboshi for the world.” She smiled and then entered her room and closed the door behind her. Although, she still had to get used to closing those doors so in reality it was half open and she did not realise. She smiled and then looked around, she knew she would need to relax herself before she could even fall asleep so she decided to sit by the balcony and draw her transverse flute and gently began to play a relaxing tune for Yori, to rock her to sleep. She was wearing her cloak since it was cold outside now and her eyes closed as she played on the melty that seemed to fit the cold and yet beautiful landscape around the palace.
She was not sure how long she had been at the balcony playing, but the melody evolved in beauty for it told of the joy she had found here in the palace and those she had left behind. She kept her eyes closed and if anyone approached her she would most certainly look like a lovely apparition for now, some snowflakes were falling down form the sky and landing gracefully around her, almost as if they did not dare to touch her for a along as she used her musical talent. She felt someone calling her, but she was unable to stop playing just yet…

“Are these all past Emperors and what not?”Hayate looked over at the paintings she was referring to for a moment. "Yes, that's the line of past rulers. Mother's portrait will be moved here when I take the throne." He stared at one painting for a moment. "I've got a book somewhere that has all of the facts on them...names, dates, note bale events..." He shrugged. He found the topic fascinating, but was sure Gina would not, so he continued to walk with Yori. Gina was probably just interested in the artwork. "There's another wing that has portraits of all the royal families...each ruler, their children, and their spouses..." Or not, in some cases like his mother. Their portrait contained just the three of them, though Hayate had one of himself and his father in his study, and Yori's father had one of himself and his daughter in his rooms. He was snapped from his musings when Gina spoke again. “Hayate-kun, could you…teach me about the history of Hokkan? If I am to help this land I need to know as much as possible.”Perhaps he'd been wrong, and she would have an interest after all. Now that he thought about it, she had said she'd done research before coming to their world. But why ask him? Wouldn't she want to learn history from someone who wasn't 'always dead serious'? Then agian, he supposed she probably didn't know who else to ask, and as a Seishi it was his job to see she had whatever she needed. He nodded. "Yes, I can teach you some of the history if you like." He said at last. "I've got a few volumes on the history, and the mythos surrounding the Miko and Seishi, if you would be interested in them." He offered. "I could also attempt to tutor you, though I haven't done so since Yori was younger." "Nii-san tells it like a story..." Yori piped up with a smile. "It made it a little less dull." She added with a giggle. Hayate shook his head. His sister did not share his love of the tales of their forefathers. She preferred to dream of the future and lose herself in music, as her father did. “A ball…in my honour?”"Naturally, Gina-chan!" Yori beamed. "It will be so much fun! And we'll get you a lovely gown to wear." Her smile brightened. "Mother always gets us matching gowns." She added with a giggle. "And you can dance with Nii-san so he'll stop brooding in the corner." Her smile widened even more. Hayate gave a small grunt at the comment, which sent his sister into more giggles. "If that displeases you-the ball, I mean-I can talk to Mother about calling it off." “I would be happy to greet Mei in the morning and if she brings breakfast as she comes that would be best. Although, I would prefer sleeping a bit more before gong to the dojo, worry not I will ask for breakfast once I wake up. And I ‘will’ go to the dojo, sorry to disappoint you there.”Hayate found that, surprisingly, he wasn't disappointed in the least. He was curious to see what skills this maiden from another land possessed. He was also curious about her land. Perhaps, as he taught her of their history, he could find out some about her world as well. He boded. "I'll have something sent up with Mei in the morning then." He'd find something close to her size, and if she wanted to stick with the training, he'd have something better fitting made for her. He might have the palace seamstress pay her a visit anyway, as he was sure she would like a variety of clothing to wear. Hayate approached Gina's door, and saw it was partially open. Did she sleep like this? Ir had she simply not closed it properly? He called out to her, but heard what sounded like her playing the flute within. Surely if she was playing her flute, she was neither asleep nor improperly attired for company, right? And he had called out to her first. He shook his head. He'd give her the trinket from his sister, and then leave her to her own nighttime ritual. He softly pushed the door open and stepped inside, following the trail of the music to the balcony where Gina sat amidst the lightly falling snow, eyes closed and playing a lovely tune. He did not wish to interrupt her, so he listened silently from where he stood, just outside the threshold of the balcony. As it had done earlier that day, her music painted a portrait for his mind, this time of the beauty in the landscape around them. It also told of joy, and other lovely things, and Hayate closed his eyes as he listened. He didn't move and scarcely breathed until it was over, as he didn't want to be the reason it ended. Once it had ended, however, he opened his eyes and spoke softly, hoping not to startle her. "Gina-chan? Forgive the intrusion. Your door was open, and Yori asked that I bring you something." He held out the bracelet, still wrapped in the white silk cloth for her to take. "That melody was quite beautiful." His eyes drifted from her to the stars above. Even with the light snowfall, he could just make out the seven constellations that represented Genbu. His own, Encampment, as well as the Ox seemed to be shining the brightest that night...

“Yes, that's the line of past rulers. Mother's portrait will be moved here when I take the throne… I’ve got a book somewhere that has all of the facts on them...names, dates, note bale events...There's another wing that has portraits of all the royal families...each ruler, their children, and their spouses…”
Her eyes lit up when he informed her of a book of all sorts of records and she smiled, “Hayate-kun, could I look at that book at some point? I’ll confess history is one of my weaknesses.” She smiled while placing her attention on the next set of portraits and she wondered if she would find any of Yori and Hayate, surely he would look even more egotistical and mightier than the live version? She chuckled at her thoughts and looked at the next painting, the bad experience with Daichi all erased from her memory for now as she enjoyed the company of the two royals. She decided she would not let such incidents trouble her, after all, that man was probably a bit strange by nature, but she would not lower her guard around him. That man was hiding something and if that could harm anyone within these walls she would certainly do something about it. It was not fair on those who trusted him and, for some reason, she had learned quite easily that if Hayate disliked someone-like being unable to stand their presences despite being as polite as he forced himself to be at times-he had a good reason to do so. And, as strange as that sounded, she trusted him. She was a bit shocked when she realised that, she had only known the man a few hours and she trusted him? She turned to look at the siblings as they carried on talking and walking.
“Yes, I can teach you some of the history if you like…I’ve got a few volumes on the history, and the mythos surrounding the Miko and Seishi, if you would be interested in them…I could also attempt to tutor you, though I haven't done so since Yori was younger."
"Nii-san tells it like a story...It made it a little less dull.”
Gina was so excited that without realising she moved to stand in front of the Corwn Prince and held both of his hands warmly, “Would you? I would greatly appreciate that and I could return the favour and teach you the history of my…well the kingdom I come from I guess.” She smiled at Yori, it seemed the younger Princess did not share the love for history but she did not blame her, not many liked that subject much. Something in her hands felt warm and delightful and she looked down at their hands and then back at his face. Would he dismiss her and snatch his hands away from hers? However, she felt them…so soft. She could tell he was strong and could easily wield any weapon if he so chose to protect whoever his heart dictated. But they were also soft and she wondered if he ever loved someone, how it would feel to be caressed by such hands. Her eyes opened widely as she looked back at their hands and then blushed lightly realising she was holding Hayate’s hands and gently let go of them saying, “Forgive me.” She turned to look back at the paintings, she had to remember he was a Prince, she could not be her usual self around them, well she could, but why did she not want to? Maybe he would feel uncomfortable, he seemed so stoic at times…
"Naturally, Gina-chan! It will be so much fun! And we'll get you a lovely gown to wear…Mother always gets us matching gowns…And you can dance with Nii-san so he'll stop brooding in the corner.”
Gina smiled feeling Yori’s excitement and then registered her last words and heard Hayate’s grunt and laughed softly, “Is that what he does at every ball?” She looked at him curiously before she took one of Yori’s hands in hers and said, “Sounds like a splendid idea, but you must promise to grant me a dance, after all, you will be the loveliest lady at the ball.” She kissed the back of her hand before she embraced her, “I hope you sleep eel my lovely Koboshi. And no asking to call it off, especially if it makes you happy.” She was a bit hesitant to think on the kind of dress the Empress would choose for her, hopefully nothing too scandalous, she did not want to look like a geisha…she had nothing against them of course but, well…yeah…
"I'll have something sent up with Mei in the morning then.”
She nodded at him and smiled in gratitude before she went to her room. Usually she went to sleep straight after completely drenched with exhaustion since performing and dancing, plus being a samurai had their disadvantages and one of them was the amount of energy it took to do each of those tasks. But that night she was a bit shocked still, she never believed in magic although as a child she would have loved to. And yet now, here she was, inside…a book. She laughed softly for a moment and wondered what TingTing would think of this. Neve run her wildest dreams would she suspect she would be transported into a palace, meet a lovely family, scold at a handsome Prince and experience such cold weather…
But she was determined to do her best and get used to this climate. She would undergo arduous training and finally behave like the locals, she did not want anything to affect her in fulfilling her task here. And the more she learned about the people the more she felt compelled to help them.
She played the soft melody and concentrated on what she transmitted. She was told not long ago that music was another means of communication where words or pictures were not enough. And though she was enjoying the music and what it transported, she felt a presence nearby. It was not Daichi or else she would have stopped playing, no, he was nowhere to be seen right now. It was a presence she was familiar with and she recalled the first some she sensed him, when he found her in the snow and brought her to his palace. It was Hayate, and though she felt about ready to snap at him that he should knock before he entered the room of a lady, the music was so soothing and he seemed to be enjoying it, so she played until the melody was no more. Her emerald eyes opened slowly and they shone with a deeper shade of green. Was he gong to mock her taken or something now?
Gina-chan? Forgive the intrusion. Your door was open, and Yori asked that I bring you something.”
She almost blushed and felt stupid and was so relieved she had not yelled at him for entering. How could she be so foolish and leave the door open? Maybe she could ask him to show her how to close the…it would seem a foolish question to him right? A door was a door, but they were so different form the ones she was used to. She put her flute away and smiled at him, “Do not worry Hayate-kun, I usually do not go to sleep that soon.” She looked at his extended hand with curiosity and took what he offered, “From Yori?” She smiled and unwrapped the cloth and was greatly surprised to see a bra celled with small emerald flowers, it was almost exactly like the ones she wore. She smiled and put it on immediately and looked at it as it rattle with the rest of the jewellery and with the light of the stars she glowed like a minor deity. She smiled, “I will thank her first thing tomorrow, Koboshi is so sweet…Like the stars tonight…”
"That melody was quite beautiful."
She thought for a moment that once he gave her what he came here to he would simply turn and leave, instead he…complimented her? The arrogant Prince complimented her? She almost raised an eyebrow and asked him to repeat what he had just said, but instead-and even more surprising-she took his hand and gently pulled him to the balcony, “Would you like to talk for a bit, or for me to play another song to entertain you Hayate-kun? It must be difficult to rest at night when so many responsibilities burden you…” She gently released his hand and noticed he was looking up at the stars, “I always wanted to learn more about the stars but, I guess it never happened.” She smiled and stared up at the sky with dreamy eyes, taking in the shapes of the constellations and the different sizes and shapes of them as well.
“I know that the Seishi of my friend, from Seyriuu, I think, were expecting her fora very long time. Have you been expecting yours that long too?” It was then a thought that had troubled her popped back into her mind, “Hayate-kun? Just…a though that occurred me…what would happen if I were not the miko you have all been waiting for?”

“Hayate-kun, could I look at that book at some point? I’ll confess history is one of my weaknesses.”Hayate nodded. "I'll find the book for you." He was surprised that Gina showed so much interest, but he couldn't blame her, he found it fascinating as well, after all. Yori didn't share his preferences, but that didn't bother him in the slightest. It was nice to know that he would have someone to discuss such things with now. “Would you? I would greatly appreciate that and I could return the favour and teach you the history of my…well the kingdom I come from I guess. Forgive me.”He was surprised when Gina took his hands, and his eyes showed it for perhaps a second before he regained control of himself. He did not pull away, however, and instead gently gripped her hands in return. Perhaps such was a custom of her world? And he didn't want to hurt her feelings. Besides, her hands were soft...smaller than his own, but bigger than Yori's, and it was an unusual feeling...but nice, nonetheless. "No need for apologies. Yes, that sounds agreeable. I'll tell you of our world, and you can tell me of yours." The faintest hint of a smile crossed his lips as she turned back to the paintings. “Is that what he does at every ball?”Yori giggled. "It's what Mother says he does. He'll dance with me, and sometimes with Mother if she bothers him enough, but otherwise he watches everyone else." "If I danced with one lady, I'd have to dance with them all..." Hayate replied, by way of excuse. "And I'd grow tired of dancing long before I ran out of ladies." Actually, only Lulu came to mind, but he'd be tired of dancing before it was her turn, even if he hadn't danced yet. He had been kidding, though he suspected only Yori was used to his sense of humor. This would probably cause Gina to think him even more arrogant than she already seemed to. "Oh, you're just scared Lulu-san will want to dance with you." Yori teased, giggling again. Hayate ignored her comment and focused on what Gina said next, though he added. "Perhaps it would be alright to dance with Gina-chan. It could even be expected, as Miko and Seishi, after all..." “Sounds like a splendid idea, but you must promise to grant me a dance, after all, you will be the loveliest lady at the ball.”Yori giggled again and smiled brightly. "I'll dance as often as you like, Gina-chan." She promised. Hayate considered his mother's taste, and decided he'd have a word with her about what might be considered proper for Gina to wear at the ball. She never chose anything too outlandish for Yori, but Gina was no child, and his mother was probably planning to accentuate that fact, if he knew her at all. “Do not worry Hayate-kun, I usually do not go to sleep that soon. I will thank her first thing tomorrow, Koboshi is so sweet…Like the stars tonight…”Hayate had expected her to snap at him for his intrusion, but he had knocked and called out to her. It wasn't his fault she had not answered and left her door open. Instead, she'd smiled and accepted the gift, and in a way, his company. He nodded to her words. "She is the brightest star I know." He admitted. He was so fond of his little sister, and knew that shared fondness was some of what he liked about Gina thus far. He was surprised how lovely she looked in the moonlight. Her hair color, surrounded by the falling snow, made her look like a snow goddess. He wondered if all women in her land had such ethereal beauty, but he shook the thought away. She was the Miko, and he was a Seishi. His job was to protect her, and he needed a clear head for that. “Would you like to talk for a bit, or for me to play another song to entertain you Hayate-kun? It must be difficult to rest at night when so many responsibilities burden you… I always wanted to learn more about the stars but, I guess it never happened.”He had intended to turn and leave, figuring she wanted her privacy, but she surprised him yet again when she took his hand and pulled him out onto the balcony. She wanted his company? He would oblige then. It was a nice night, and something made him feel a bit more at peace at the moment. "I could tell you of the constellations, if you like." He offered. This time he took her hand and led her to the railing of the balcony, standing behind her so that they could look up at exactly the same spots in the sky. "That is my constellation, 'Encampment'." He pointed at it, and traced the outline with his finger to show her. He moved slowly so she could follow the motions. He then showed her the rest one at a time. "That's 'Woman', and 'Emptiness', 'Rooftop', 'Dipper' and 'Wall'." He then moved to the last of the constellations, and the one, other than his own, that shone the brightest that night. "And that is 'Ox'." He stepped away from Gina and looked down at her. "Each of these represents a Genbu Seishi, as the story goes, and each Seishi bears a mark with that symbol somewhere on their body. I have a map of the other constellations, but those are the only ones viable in Hokkan." “I know that the Seishi of my friend, from Seyriuu, I think, were expecting her fora very long time. Have you been expecting yours that long too? Hayate-kun? Just…a though that occurred me…what would happen if I were not the miko you have all been waiting for?”Hayare nodded to her words. "I've known about my destiny form a young age, and have wondered what the Miko would be like ever since I first heard the legends." He didn't often admit something like that, and he found it easier to do so looking up at the stars than he did looking at her. Her question puzzled him, and he looked to her, curiosity showing in his deep purple eyes. "I've never heard of a girl being brought to this world who was not the Miko..." He admitted. But if she didn't feel like the Miko...maybe something unusual was going on. "Whatever your role may be, Genbu has deemed that you be brought to our world, and so that makes you an important and honored person here." He gave a very small smile, hoping to reassure her doubts. "If you are not the Miko, then I will continue to look for her...but I will also do what I can to help you understand why you are here. We will not simply toss you out the door and tell you to never return." She had to be the Miko, didn't she? Nothing else made sens...and yet, if she was not, then what did that mean for them?

”I'll find the book for you.”
She smiled at him warmly and said, “Thank you ever so much.” He had no idea how much it meant to her that she should have someone to share in this love for history, for the lives of those gone by. In fact he had just earned brownie points in his favour and she was willing to be a bit more civil with him since he would put up with her company just so she could learn about this world. She was already wondering what kind of things she would discover, would it be intrigue, deceit, valour and conquest? Or a bit of everything? She probably looked like a young child about to be given the present she had been longing to acquire for many years. But she did not care. She was feeling cheery and she would gladly show this to the two royals who had helped her feel blessed in a land she did not know, in fact, somehow she felt that she could easily call this place her home for as long as she lived here. She was happy in this palace and with its people. “You both have made me feel truly at home. I only hope I can do the same for you someday.”
It was such a comforting feeling to know she would finally be able to talk about one of the subjects she enjoyed so much with someone who seemed to share the same passion. Her family usually listened to her but it was clearly obvious they lacked interest. And now, she would learn about a whole new civilisation and she and someone who would enjoyed it and would teach her all there was to know, she best write some books of all she could remember…that’s it…”Hayate-kun…I’ll also write some books about my world, and you can keep them here. And you can read them and tell me what you think. I might even be able to draw maps with rivers and mountains…” Her emerald sparkled and looked deeply into his purple eyes. What had made this egotistical Prince suddenly turn into a charming man? And he looked much more at ease,
"No need for apologies. Yes, that sounds agreeable. I'll tell you of our world, and you can tell me of yours.”
He was s polite it was becoming harder and harder for Gina to believe this was the same man. He took her hands and did not get angered of their proximity to each other, he did not even mind if this tainted his stoic reputation? She had to admit this side of him was quite…enjoyable. And she blinked in shock at such revelation, his hands were warm and rendered her comfort. And was that a…a smile? She blinked and rubbed her eyes to ensure she was not dreaming, but no, his smile was there and it…suited him. He looked quite majestic when he smiled but, she would not tell him that, she would not inflate his ego least it should come back riding in her direction. She did smile however and said, “It’s a deal then.”
It’s what Mother says he does. He'll dance with me, and sometimes with Mother if she bothers him enough, but otherwise he watches everyone else."
"If I danced with one lady, I'd have to dance with them all...And I'd grow tired of dancing long before I ran out of ladies.”
Gina blinked and turned to look at him, she was a bit confused, one moment he was charming and the next he was back to his old self? She for it now, it was his way to shielder his pride from any accusation although she had to admit, she was truly tempted to tease him, “Not necessarily, at least where I come from, in the old Empires, the Crown Prince could open the ball dancing with the lady of his choosing, it could be Koboshi or the person for whom the ball is held to honour and then after a couple of songs he can walk idly with a companion, its just a matter of using these rigid rules and moulding them to ensure you do not end up doing too much. Besides, I know for a fact that being the Crown Prince many ladies would demand to get a hod of your attention and even manipulate those rules to their advantages.” She then crossed her arms around her chest and added, “However, despite your colossal ego, I will help you so that you do not have to suffer the annoying demands of other ladies, but you must be agreeable…” She stuck her tongue at him, why was she teasing the Prince? She would get in trouble one day…
"Oh, you're just scared Lulu-san will want to dance with you.”
Gina was a bit curious, who could this Lulu be? WAs this the person they were talking about as they strolled back to their rooms? She suspected the answer to that question would be…yes…
“Perhaps it would be alright to dance with Gina-chan. It could even be expected, as Miko and Seishi, after all…”
Gina looked into his eyes and to his words she blushed much to her dismal. But she then said to hide the fact that she would actually love to dance with him. “You would be lucky Hayate-kun, I happen to be one of the best dancers in Okinawa…” She had to admit anyone in her situation would have loved to dance with Hayate, he was charming after all. And she would not deny it, she did want to dance with him…
“I’ll dance as often as you like, Gina-chan.”
She smiled, “It is a deal then my sweet Koboshi. There will be no backing down now…pinky promise…” She smiled and then placed her pinky finger around her own laughing softly, she felt so silly but Yori brought back this side she had not felt in quite a while now. She truly always wanted to have a younger sister. It seemed Genbu had heard her prayers…
”She is the brightest star I know.”
She smiled and nodded, “You both are lucky to have each other and to sure a strong bond and love. I wish all siblings could be as close as you two are.” She leaned on the parapet of the balcony with a gentle smile, she hoped that her coming here would only bring peace and blessings to this kingdom, now that all this had happened she could not see herself happily fulfilling her role should something happen to any of them.
"I could tell you of the constellations, if you like… That is my constellation, ‘Encampment’… That's 'Woman', and 'Emptiness', 'Rooftop', 'Dipper' and ‘Wall’...And that is ‘Ox’…Each of these represents a Genbu Seishi, as the story goes, and each Seishi bears a mark with that symbol somewhere on their body. I have a map of the other constellations, but those are the only ones viable in Hokkan.”
She smiled at his words and nodded and was a bit surprised when he took her hand and led her to the parapet and then she felt him behind her and though she could tell he wished to help her see the constellations more easily, something within her stirred and she blushed for a moment. Lucky for her he was standing behind her otherwise he would tease her no doubt. She looked up at the sky and listened intently to everything he said and she slowly repeated the names of each of the Seishi signs. At times he was so close to her it was not hard to feel his breathing or even the soft touch of his silken ebony hair and at times she felt she lost concentration on what they were talking about. She looked down to regain control of herself and it was then she registered…Ox…Ox…Ox?!
She was silent for a moment, had she not seen that sign the moment she was taken to Genbu? “Ox…” She breathed and was unsure as to what that could be…or mean…”I saw that when the book opened but I am not sure what that means…I probably was reading about your Seishi and then I was dragged here…It is all a blur now to be able to remember what happened exactly.” She smiled and turned to look at him and said, “Thank you, the constellations are truly magnificent…” He was magnificent…She mentally slapped herself, she had to concentrate or else the Prince would grow bore dog her sudden outburst of meekness, she was not usually like that, what was going on?
”I've known about my destiny form a young age, and have wondered what the Miko would be like ever since I first heard the legends."
She smiled and said, “I hope it was not a disappointment… It is strange though…” she looked back at the landscape, “It seems unfair that the people from these kingdoms are aware of this from the very beginning and the girls that are called upon have no idea, they are suddenly brought into a world they do not know and… I know I have been very lucky Hayate-kun, I already developed a fondness for this kingdom and its people… but other have had a hard time. It doesn’t seem fair at all.”
”I've never heard of a girl being brought to this world who was not the Miko...Whatever your role may be, Genbu has deemed that you be brought to our world, and so that makes you an important and honored person here…If you are not the Miko, then I will continue to look for her...but I will also do what I can to help you understand why you are here. We will not simply toss you out the door and tell you to never return.”
She realised he looked quite handsome when he smiled…facepalm…She looked up at him and smiled feeling relief move through her she embraced him deeply and said, “Thank you Hayate-kun, I promise that whatever I am meant to do here I will do it to protect your kingdom and your loved ones. You have given me protection when, nowadays where I come from that is difficult to find…Maybe I am just a bit nervous and do not recognise the skills but I do know I can sense you when you are close by, I recognise your presence and know it is you…” She slowly pulled from the embrace hoping he had not minded at all but it felt like the right thing to do…
The Empress and Daichi usually walked in the gardens at night before gong to sleep and though she had been with her back toward the scene, he had seen it and it almost made his eye twitch, he smiled at his love and wondered if those two would actually…grow that close…something had to be one…and fast.

“You both have made me feel truly at home. I only hope I can do the same for you someday.”Hayate gave a small not. "Think nothing of it." Most people were content with a simple 'Thank you', and then they never felt the need to mention it again...and yet, it felt that Gina truly was grateful for all they had done for her, though it was simply common courtesy. "What Mr. Grumpy is trying to say is you are truly welcome, Gina-chan." Yori said with a giggle. "We want you to be happy while you're here, and you've already made the evening enjoyable for us as well, right, Nii-san?" Hayate made a noncommittal noise, unsure what to say, and Yori elbowed him. "Right." He said amidst a grunt of pain, reaching up to rub the sore spot. His sister could be cruel when she wanted to... ”Hayate-kun…I’ll also write some books about my world, and you can keep them here. And you can read them and tell me what you think. I might even be able to draw maps with rivers and mountains…”He nodded. "That sounds like a good idea, Gina-chan." He liked the idea of having some printed record of that mysterious other world. "I shall send for all the supplies you'll need in the morning." He gave another polite nod. "Though please do not feel rushed in completing the volumes." “Not necessarily, at least where I come from, in the old Empires, the Crown Prince could open the ball dancing with the lady of his choosing, it could be Koboshi or the person for whom the ball is held to honour and then after a couple of songs he can walk idly with a companion, its just a matter of using these rigid rules and moulding them to ensure you do not end up doing too much. Besides, I know for a fact that being the Crown Prince many ladies would demand to get a hod of your attention and even manipulate those rules to their advantages. However, despite your colossal ego, I will help you so that you do not have to suffer the annoying demands of other ladies, but you must be agreeable…”Hayate raised an eyebrow. Had she just...stuck her tongue out at him? He smirked. No one had ever done that before. "I am always agreeable...it is not my fault if we have varying definitions of the word..." His tone was teasing as he bowed, matching her tease-for-tease, and hoping she could take as well as she gave. "However if you are willing to sacrifice your time and energy for my sake, I am deeply grateful." "Behave, Nii-san..." Yori chided softly, though she found their interactions amusing. This would be good for her brother. “You would be lucky Hayate-kun, I happen to be one of the best dancers in Okinawa…”"Okinawa is...your kingdom?" Hayate wondered, he could not help his mild curiosity. He then smirked again. "I look forward to seeing just how good the best dancer in Okinawa is, then..." ”I saw that when the book opened but I am not sure what that means…I probably was reading about your Seishi and then I was dragged here…It is all a blur now to be able to remember what happened exactly. Thank you, the constellations are truly magnificent…”Hayate frowned, not because her words displeased her, but simply in thought. Why would a Miko see a symbol before coming into the book? In all of his research, he had never heard of that. Past Miko have seen images of the gods, but he'd never heard of anything indicating a Seishi beforehand like this. "I...do not know." He admitted. "But I will do my best to help you make sense of it all." He simply nodded at her last comment, he always felt at peace under the stars. Typically, it was his one chance to be alone, and to relax, and he usually disliked sharing that time. And yet, he found he didn't mind so much at present... “I hope it was not a disappointment… It is strange though… It seems unfair that the people from these kingdoms are aware of this from the very beginning and the girls that are called upon have no idea, they are suddenly brought into a world they do not know and… I know I have been very lucky Hayate-kun, I already developed a fondness for this kingdom and its people… but other have had a hard time. It doesn’t seem fair at all.”He had never considered it before. "You are right, it is unfair." He looked at her for a moment. "We grow up with the legends, and as Seishi, we are given time to learn and perfect our powers...accept our fates and prepare for what's ahead." He shook his head. "These girls...like yourself...are pulled from all they know, and are not asked if this is something they wish to do. They are told an entire empire relies on them, and they are asked to risk their lives for a world that is not their own." His deep purple eyes met her emerald, and he frowned slightly. "For this, I am truly sorry, Gina-chan. I would, that I could, make things more fair for all involved..." “Thank you Hayate-kun, I promise that whatever I am meant to do here I will do it to protect your kingdom and your loved ones. You have given me protection when, nowadays where I come from that is difficult to find…Maybe I am just a bit nervous and do not recognise the skills but I do know I can sense you when you are close by, I recognise your presence and know it is you…”He was surprised when she embraced him, but he did not pull away. Instead, he surprised himself by bringing his arms up and returning the embrace, if a bit unsure as to how to do so. He placed his arms loosely around her, giving her the chance to pull back if she wished. "Perhaps it is your ability." He said after a moment. "A Miko often has some way of detecting her Seishi." He gave a half shrug. "Or maybe there is some other reason. I suppose we'll find out once we've worked out your purpose here and the extent of this little ability..." He would never dare to admit it, but it felt...nice...holding her in such a way. She was very lovely, and though he'd never felt any interest toward the opposite sex-beyond his desire to make his mother and sister happy-but Gina...she was a complex person, and he was interested to learn more about her, and the world she came from. He allowed her to pull away, but didn't move back himself, not wanting to make her think he'd been offended. Perhaps such an embrace was another of her land's customs? He would have to ask about these customs at some point...

”Think nothing of it."
"What Mr. Grumpy is trying to say is you are truly welcome, Gina-chan…We want you to be happy while you're here, and you've already made the evening enjoyable for us as well, right, Nii-san?”
“Right.”
Gina raised an eyebrow at Hayate’s ill disposition, he was truly full of himself, was he not? And the worst past was that he did not mind being a bit rude to those around him if he had to, just to salvage his ego. She crossed her arms around her chest, she had been as polite as possible all this time and that was what she received in exchange? She could bend her pride and he could not for the sake of his little sister? She smiled at Yori though and said, “I shall endeavour to make all your evenings enjoyable Koboshi, to make you the star that shines the brightest.” For now she would not upset Yori and snap at Hayate but she was truly near to doing so with his bizarre behaviour. If she knew any better she would assume he disliked being around people. How could a man like him be so ovine and caring for his sister while being mad at the rest of the world? Surely there were other beings in this world that deserved love and affection…
”That sounds like a good idea, Gina-chan…I shall send for all the supplies you'll need in the morning…Though please do not feel rushed in completing the volumes.”
And here he was again back at being a gentleman. She honestly did not know what the problem was with him, was he physiologically harmed or was he bipolar for something? Did he think it a nice thing to slap someone and then smile at them? She nodded at his words however and knew she was at the verge now of exploding. She placed a hand o her belt to avoid closing her fists harshly and then said, “Of course, it will be a long work in progress but I hope you will find it worth the wait. If you ever wish to, you can come and look at the progress if you have a free moment.” Wait, she was inviting him over to check her work even though she could not stand his pedantry? Oh well, for the sake of being polite, yet his eyes were rather intriguing, they hid something she could not yet see and she wondered if she would ever envisage past his posh exterior.
"I am always agreeable...it is not my fault if we have varying definitions of the word...However if you are willing to sacrifice your time and energy for my sake, I am deeply grateful."
"Behave, Nii-san…”
Gina chuckled, “I can see how agreeable, I guess I am still learning…” oh he wanted to tease her back, she could return it once more, she was good at that, “I will sleep on it, we will see if you manage to convince me form here to the ball and I will consent to save you from this Lulu…” She grinned but in all honesty she knew she would be unable to say no, if the people who protected her and welcomed her into this family needed aid she would render it, even if that meant spending al night with the Crown Prince and scaring Lulu away, although, would that make people talk about her and Hayate having something gong on? Just the thought left a sour taste in her mouth and yet, looking back at him, if he wanted to be, he could be agreeable…maybe he was just too used to teasing others he did not want to show tis sweet side he had to have…why else would Yori love him so?
"Okinawa is...your kingdom? I look forward to seeing just how good the best dancer in Okinawa is, then…”
Suddenly her anger evaporated like hot water and she found herself smiling at his curiosity for it was the same curiosity she showed before. They did have many things in common yet their tempers were so drawn to irritate one another. She wondered why she was thinking such at the moment and instead decided to ignore that and looked up at him still smiling, “Yes, that is where I come from and it is nothing like what you have ever seen. For once, there is no snow, but sand, and you can see the ocean form where I live, like a never-ending source of water moving through the horizon. The country I come from is called the land of the Rising Sun, since the sun arises from that side and extends to the other lands.” To his last words she smiled, “I will then please the Crown Prince and ensure not to get rusty by then.”
“I…do not know…But I will do my best to help you make sense of it all.”
She smiled and for a moment as they stood at the balcony, she turned around a bit to look into his eyes, her smile not leaving her lips and her eyes glowing with the light of the moon. She did not utter her gratitude for this but she knew that this could show him far more relief than anything else. She knew that despite their differences they could actually get on at times, and for those times she would do her best not to displease the Crown Prince too much. A shooting star moved across them as their eyes were still locked on each other’s eyes and she only just noticed the star and turned to look at it and smiled, usually her family urged her to make a wish whenever she saw one, an she wonder at that moment what she would wish for, maybe for her family to be here, with her.
But then she realised she was keeping Hayate up and probably relieving him from the time he needed on his own, “Hayate-kun, I am sorry if I am detaining you from actually getting some sleep or even…taking this time for yourself away from you… I know you are usually busy…” She then looked away and back at the snow, “Although, I would like to do this more often…”
"You are right, it is unfair…We grow up with the legends, and as Seishi, we are given time to learn and perfect our powers...accept our fates and prepare for what's ahead…These girls...like yourself...are pulled from all they know, and are not asked if this is something they wish to do. They are told an entire empire relies on them, and they are asked to risk their lives for a world that is not their own…For this, I am truly sorry, Gina-chan. I would, that I could, make things more fair for all involved..."
She smiled and found her hand placed itself upon his own for a moment while her eyes searched for his own, “Just the fact that you wish there was something you could do is more than enough Hayate-kun, maybe in the future we will find a way to improve this for the next girls to come, once you know the malady it is easier to find a cure.” Her father always said that and it was positive thinking but, it was also true. It was better than to panic over the things that came to happen at some point in time.
"Perhaps it is your ability…A Miko often has some way of detecting her Seishi…Or maybe there is some other reason. I suppose we'll find out once we've worked out your purpose here and the extent of this little ability…"
She closed her eyes while she heard him talk, he could be right, and yet the embrace made her feel safer than she had ever been before. For some reason she thought that if she had the option of being protected by a whole army or Hayate’s arms, there would never be a safer place than the embrace of this handsome Crown Prince. He felt so strong and yet comfortable to embrace, she could even take in the fragrance he probably used everyday and she found it delightful. Had anyone ever been graced with a hug from Hayate aside from his family? She blushed at the thought and was glad they were embracing or else he would tease her for it. She hid her face on the folds of the sleeve of his arm and closed her eye whispering, “Thank you, Hayate-kun, for everything…”
She even wondered if they could do this every night, she could ask him again to tell her about the Seishi constellations and they could study them and see if there were any changes or anomalies. They could talk about the customs of his people as opposed to her own. They could enjoy each other’s company without having to worry about anyone thinking of such bond as anything but friendship. Suddenly the activities of the day, alongside the experience of being dragged into a book, almost freezing to death and putting up with new strange and wonderful people made her fall into a deep sleep without realising. Her hold on Hayate lessened and the melody of his beating heart and his warmth welcomed her to sleep.

“Of course, it will be a long work in progress but I hope you will find it worth the wait. If you ever wish to, you can come and look at the progress if you have a free moment.”Hayate was surprised, though he didn't show it. Did she really want him to stop by and check out the progress? He'd figured she wouldn't want to spend much time in hes company, outside of what she must. He nodded. "Thank you, Gina-chan. I would like to see the work in progress. I'm quite curious about your world." There was no harm in admitting it, was there? After all, she was curious about their culture and customs, so was it so odd that he'd want to do the same. “I can see how agreeable, I guess I am still learning… I will sleep on it, we will see if you manage to convince me form here to the ball and I will consent to save you from this Lulu…”He could tell that his small attempt to tease had angered her, and for that he was sorry...but also a little annoyed, though he did his best to show neither. Gina had said he was too serious...but did she not realize that this teasing was his sense of humor? Perhaps she was used to something else, or perhaps she had many friends back home, but it wasn't easy for him to make friends. Too many people who claimed friendship had ulterior motives, and he had to be wary of that. He didn't think she had any ulterior motives...he and his people had more to gain by her being there than she did. “Yes, that is where I come from and it is nothing like what you have ever seen. For once, there is no snow, but sand, and you can see the ocean form where I live, like a never-ending source of water moving through the horizon. The country I come from is called the land of the Rising Sun, since the sun arises from that side and extends to the other lands. I will then please the Crown Prince and ensure not to get rusty by then.”Hayate listened intently as she described her homeland, allowing some of his curiosity to shine through his deep purple eyes. Sand? Was it hot like Sailo then? Or perhaps it was more like Kutou, as it was the land where the sun rose. "It sounds lovely!" Yori exclaimed cheerfully. "Nii-san, when she shows you maps and stuff, you'll share them with me, right?" "Of course, Yori-chan." He assured his little sister before looking back to Gina. "It does sound quite interesting. I look forward to teaching you about our land, and learning about yours in return," To her last comment, he smirked but said nothing more. “Hayate-kun, I am sorry if I am detaining you from actually getting some sleep or even…taking this time for yourself away from you… I know you are usually busy… Although, I would like to do this more often…”Hayate looked at her a moment, trying to decipher the meaning behind her words. At last he spoke, though he did not look away from her. "It is...okay, Gina-chan. You are not keeping me from anything important." Bow he did looked back to the stars. "And sometimes, company...the right company...is better than time aline." He glanced back at her for a moment. "I would like to do this again as well." It was an admission he had not expected to make. He knew that his ego could make him a difficult person to spend time with, and yet Gina admitted that she seemed to be enjoying this quiet time together. One honest admission deserved another, did it not? "I feel we will be spending much time together. You do want me to tutor you, after all, and I did say I would do my best to help you with whatever your task in this land is. You may grow tired of my company by the time you return to your world..." He allowed the faintest smile to play at his lips for just a second before it morphed into his usual smirk. "Though I can't imagine how that could happen..." “Just the fact that you wish there was something you could do is more than enough Hayate-kun, maybe in the future we will find a way to improve this for the next girls to come, once you know the malady it is easier to find a cure.”He rather liked that saying, and thought he'd have to endeavor to remember it. An idea came to him. "Perhaps when you return home, you could write about your experiences here...share them somehow and get the word out." It sounded foolishly idealistic now that he'd said it, but not being the sort to backtrack, he plowed on. "Or I could let you take one of the volumes of the legends of past Miko and Seishi with you, and you could share it." Books were the maind source of knowledge, after all, so that would be the best way to educate the girls of her world and prepare them for the potential future, would it not? “Thank you, Hayate-kun, for everything…”"Think nothing of it..." He said softly. For some reason, this embrace inspired him to be gentler than normal. It was as if this opened up something closer, and more vulnerable between them. Though it wasn't something he could explain, and wasn't something he was sure he knew how to handle, it warmed his heart just a little to know that Gina felt this much trust in him. It was a very strange sensation, but not entirely unpleasant or unwanted...but those were all thoughts he'd put aside and examine later. He wasn't sure how long he stood there holding her...only that he'd wandered off into his own thoughts, and only returned to the present when he felt her grip begin to slacken. He looked down, and chuckled softly. She had actually fallen asleep in his arms. That was new, and completely unexpected. He slowly and gently picked her up, leaning to slip one arm under her knees as the other held her close to his chest. She was tall, but, as he had learned when carrying her into the palace, he could lift her with ease. He carried her into her room, and shifted her weight so that she was leaning against his chest so he could fold back the bedclothes. She might get mad at him in the morning, but he knew she'd had a stressful, exhausting day, and he didn't wish to wake her. He carefully unfastened her cloak, shifting his hold on her so that it fell to the floor. He then carefully put her on the bed. Once he had her positioned in a way he hoped she'd be comfortable, he removed her shoes, but left her socks in case her feet got cold during the night. He thought of removing her jewelry, but then recalled some women slept in theirs, and he didn't wish for her to wake up and worry about what had happened to it. He could think of nothing else he could do to make her comfortable, at least nothing that wouldn't cause her to beat him up the next morning, so he pulled hte bedclothes back over her, tucking her carefully in. That done, he placed her shoes neatly at the side of the bed where she could find them, and hung the cloak on the back of the chair by the vanity. He crossed back to the balcony and closed and latched the doors, pulling the heavy curtains closed to preserve heat and keep the sun from disturbing her. He then moved to the fireplace and fed it a few more logs, hoping to keep it strong enough to keep her warm through the night. That done, he was about to leave, but found himself pausing at her bedside once more. He looked down at her sleeping form for a long moment before he reached up a hand and gently moved some hair from her face. "Rest well, Gina-chan. May Genbu show you nothing but goodness in the land of dreams." He spoke so low that, had she been awake, she probably wouldn't have heard him. Taking a deep breath, he turned and left her room, making sure the door closed properly with a soft click. He then stepped into Yori's room, and smiled to find her asleep already. It seemed Gina's song had done the trick, and she didn't need his stories to fall asleep for once. He moved to check and make sure her balcony doors were latched, and the curtain securely drawn. He then fed a few more logs to her fire as well before steppign back out into the hallway. He next sought out Rika, another head maid, and instructed that a set of training clothes, as well as writing supplies were to be delivered to Gina's room first thing in the morning. He gave specific instructions on her height and build so that they could find a training outfit that closely fit, and even suggested they see Hiden, as he thought his clothes would come the closest to fitting her. He also gave specific intrustions on the writing supplies, wanting the finest quality. He wasn't sure if she would prefer journals or scrolls to write on, so he requested both, as well as anything else she may find useful. At last, he also requested that at her earliest convince, the palace seamstress, Michiyo, come see Gina to have some new outfits made. He wanted Gina to feel comfortable in what she wore, but also to be warm enough. Michiyo would see to that splendidly. That task done, Hayate finally retired to his own room. He changed for bed, and built his own fire up for the night. He was about to climb into bed when his eyes landed on the bookcase. He padded over to it, and began scanning the books here. He had more in his study, but he was sure he could find a couple of volumes to help Gina get started. He selected four books on the history of Hokkan and the legends of the Miko and Seishi, and pulled a dark green ribbon from a drawer to tie them together. It would make carrying them easier later on. That done, he set the bundle of books on his bedside table and finally crawled into his bed. He was tired, but as always, he knew he'd be a fairly light sleeper. He closed his eyes and began to re-imagine the events of that day, allowing himself to slowly drift off to sleep.

“Thank you, Gina-chan. I would like to see the work in progress. I'm quite curious about your world.”
For some reason his words made her smile and she nodded, she expected him to be curious if he was as fond of this type of knowledge as she was. And he seemed to share that love so, she deemed it would be rather enjoyable for the both of them to discuss this topic. To think that she finally knew someone who shared in the love for history, it was a bit of a surprise as well but a good one. She looked into his eyes and could see the curiosity shining through his eyes, yes this was going to be quite the experience. Only one thing worried her, she did not want to take up too much of his time, being a Crown Prince was no easy task and she knew he also had to tend to his family and she would feel awful if she were to take up too much time when he had other things to tend to. Surely he would let her know, however. Or so she hopped. It was a fair exchange to share their worlds, she could hardly wait to get started and she wondered if he was just as eager as she was. Her emerald eyes sparkled with anticipation, she would not be impatient though, she would let things begin when they had to and enjoy her moments in this palace in the meantime. Although she was doing that already.
He did not reply to her tease but she deemed she probably sounded as angry as she was. There was nothing she could do about it if he was determined to be so rude. Was he so used to always being the one to finish every sentence it annoyed him when someone else insisted? He was one complex person, and they said that girls were difficult to handle? Well, some men could be too, Gina did not know what to do with Hayate for one.
"It sounds lovely! Nii-san, when she shows you maps and stuff, you'll share them with me, right?"
"Of course, Yori-chan…It does sound quite interesting. I look forward to teaching you about our land, and learning about yours in return,”
She chuckled and was happy that even Yori showed curiosity for her homelands. Well, it seemed to her she was doing something nice for them and it felt like she could pay them back this way for all they had done for her thus far. Yes, this would probably work. She nodded at Hayate’s words, “Me too.” And she did look forward to it, how often were you sucked into a book only to wake up in a medieval-styled country? Oh she could harpy wait to learn more bout it and even dress like them. She wondered what he would look like with clothes of that sort. It seemed that for some reason, it was meant to happy and she was relieved that she had been brought into this beautiful palace instead of waking up in the middle of nowhere and be attacked by ruffians.
"It is...okay, Gina-chan. You are not keeping me from anything important…And sometimes, company...the right company...is better than time aline…I would like to do this again as well."
She looked up into his deep purple eyes as he spoke and then noticed he turned to look back at the stars. He seemed to do that when he forced himself to admit things or was uncomfortable with doing so. It made her smile while she still looked up at his face, there really was much more to him than meets the eye and she could hardly wait to find out. But, would he open up to her if she did the same? Would this proud Prince enjoy her company and allow her to learn more about him? IN a way she ‘did’ want to understand him and learn the reasons for him to be the way he was. Maybe all this would help make amends for the conception each had of the other. She could not avoid feeling amazed though, when he admitted he had enjoyed spending this little extra time at night in her company and she felt his eyes look down at her and she felt her cheeks warm and though she smiled at him she looked down sneakily so that he would not notice. “I am glad I have made for enjoyable company, Hayate-kun. I am honoured.” Feeling she had recovered form her little pathetic act she looked up into his eyes and smiled reassuringly.
“I feel we will be spending much time together. You do want me to tutor you, after all, and I did say I would do my best to help you with whatever your task in this land is. You may grow tired of my company by the time you return to your world...Though I can't imagine how that could happen…”
She blinked when she noticed that…smile? She realised it suited him to smile actually, made him far more regal and handsome. Why was he so serious all the time? He could be such an agreeable person if he wished to be… “Yes, we will spend much time together and I look forward to pleasing my new tutor…” his teasing tone returned and she felt like, she was beginning to understand his ‘humour’. She smiled cunningly and said, “Do not worry, I can suffer you. I’m a strong cookie.” She winked at him.
“Perhaps when you return home, you could write about your experiences here...share them somehow and get the word out…Or I could let you take one of the volumes of the legends of past Miko and Seishi with you, and you could share it.”
Yes, she could try and do that, “Those are all good ideas Hayate-kun, perhaps we could discuss that later on and come up with the best course of action.” He was a bit impressed, though, that he wanted to help so much but then again she knew he had a noble heart if he loved Yori the way he did. She looked deeply into his eyes for a moment, curious as to what they hid. So far he had allowed her to see a gentle side of her and she considered really few people had ever seen, even the fact that he did not pull away from the embrace and leave her at the balcony, no, he was much kinder and the way he replied when she voiced her gratitude, this man was truly mysterious and she could hardly wait t see more of him, to learn more about him…
At first she slept with no problems, although she was a light sleeper there was no noise in the palace to wake her. But after a good three hours or so, her eyes opened up and emerald eyes sparkled in the night. She was not sure why she did what she did but she sensed something and so she quickly and silently dressed up and hung her scabbard on her back in its usual place. She then opened the door of her room ever so slightly and with great stealth she moved to Yori’s room. She winced when her suspicions were right, it seemed there were several men inside the room and they were whispering for Yori to cooperate and allow them to tie her so that they could take her and they called…they called her the miko? They wanted Gina! They had come for her and mistook Yori with her.
She was truly angered. It seemed her unknown enemies were on the move already and she had t be careful but, it seemed to show her that everyone else would be in danger so long as she stayed in this palace. Without a second thought she kicked the door open with sword in hand.
There were five men, two were already trying to tie Yori, the other three turned to face whoever had kicked the door with such strength and at first they giggled when they realised it was a woman. She smirked, typical men… She walked inside silently before she said, “First of all, leave the child be, she is not the miko… second of all, I would not take any opponent lightly. Otherwise the following could happen…” She dug her knee on the groins of one of the men and he fell with a piercing cry on the floor and rolled in pain. Another tried to attack her with his blade but instead she evade the attack and used her foot to force him to hit the ground heavily and then she parried the blade of the third man. She ducked his blade and with the momentum picked him up and tossed him to the remaining two.
They released Yori and Gina ran to her and embraced her warmly, “It’s me Koboshi, do not worry I am here now and these men won’t hurt you.” She kissed both her cheeks and embraced her with her left arm to parry a blade with her right hand, sword flashing in the night. She kicked him away but then a noter men attacked and she felt a great and burning pain on her right shoulder where his sword had cut, but using the moment she head butted him. She winced in pain though but did not move away from Yori, no, she would protect her with her life.
It was then one the assassins grinned at her and said, “Hey lads, this is the miko…” Concentrate your energies and capture her… The men got up altohugh completely beaten by Gina and they lifted their hands and a powerful energy seemed to come her way. She kissed Yori on the forehead and whispered, “Stay behind me Koboshi.” Suddenly, the ox symbol on the nape of her neck began to shine and she was surrounded with pure with silvery light and she lifted a hand and created an orb that absorbed their magical attacks and returned them to them. Three men fell to the ground unconscious, but then the leader joined in, and yet Gina grinned, she embraced Yori with her left arm and lifted her right arm and a silver shield covered them, she felt the pain on her shoulder increase but she was determined to hold this shield until someone came, if only Hayate would come…she was not sure how much longer she could do this… In any case the wound on her shoulder was not that serious and she knew she had been lucky he had not used all his strength for that attack.
For some reason, something within her made her code her eyes while she held the shield and her mind concentrated on the constellation ‘Encampment’ and she called out to Hayate, she called out to him for help. She would not let anyone hurt his beloved sister, but she was beginning to fee weak already and the shield was beginning to fade slowly, just like her energy. She was too involved in this fight to realise what she was doing, she had never thought she and these powers in her…

In his sleep, Hayate's mind had wandered to Yori's dreams, and though he hadn't done this dream walking in a long time, he knew Yori was used to him. She also knew it wasn't something he did intentionally, most of the time. She awoke suddenly, and that sent warning bells ringing in his head. His sister never awoke early. She wouldn't wake until he or their mother entered and practically yanked the blankets off her and told her to get up. He awoke in an instant and jumped to his feet. Concern was forefront in his mind, so he snatched up his sword, but did not bother dressing, slipping into the hallway in his sleep clothes which consisted of loose pants and no shirt, as he often slept hot. He saw Yori's door open and heard voices from within, including...Gina? “First of all, leave the child be, she is not the miko… second of all, I would not take any opponent lightly. Otherwise the following could happen…”Whoever it was...was after the Miko? Who even knew she was here yet? He moved to the door and paused in surprise as she avoided their attacks and made her way to Yori, comforting the child and getting cut in the process. "G-Gina-chan..." Yori was scared, but she was relieved to know her friend was there. But...if they wanted the Miko, she should've gotten Hayate. If they got Gina now, they'd have what they were after. Yori fretted silently and hoped her brother would arrive soon. “Hey lads, this is the miko… Concentrate your energies and capture her…"Hayate moved slowly forward as they were distracted, intending to pick them off quickly, but one at a time, when he was a silver-white glow from Gina, and in the dark, the symbol 'Ox' could be seen glowing on the nape of her neck. Despite himself, he froze in shock once more, just for a moment. She was not the Miko...she was a Seishi. From another world? He had never heard of such a thing. She seemed to absorb their powers and send them back at them. And she could create a shield of energy to protect them. He was snapped out of his shocked stupor when he felt...well, it was as if Gina had called to him for help. She was injured, she would be unable to keep the shield up for long. He swooped in to save both girls, and realized only belatedly that he'd grabbed his practice sword instead of his actual katana. He could deliver rapid, punishing blows with both, however, so it mattered not. "Keep that shield up as long as you can." He instructed Gina. He used the wooden blade to swiftly knock out the two closest to the door. Another spun and attempted to slash at him with his own sword, but Hayate dodged and delivered a blow to the man's stomach, causing him to double over before striking the back of his head and knocking hims out. He quickly took care of the fourth man in a similar fashion before finally getting attention from the leader. The man brought his sword up and charged at Hayate, and so it began. The prince realized the only eay to get a clear shot at him would be to use his abilities. The man slashed at him, and Hayate moved back, though his left arm did get cut, and he activated his Seishi ability, shoeing the man something else. The man thought he'd fatally wounded Hayate, so he turned back to the girls, ready to carry out his mission. Hayate smirked and crouched, swiping his feet out from under him, all the while 'Encampment' glowed on his forehead. The man landed on his chest with an 'Oof!' And Hayate moved to place his foot on the back of the man's neck. Even though he was barefooted, he could apply more than enough pressure to get the job done if he needed to. He dropped the illusion, and spoke in a low growl. "Tell me who sent you..." He looked up at Gina and nodded, indicating she could release the shield now. He looked over his shoulder and then nodded to the open door. "Take her to my room. You two should be safe there." "We can't leave you alone here, Nii-san..." Yori said, scared for herself, her friend and her brother. There had been a lot of men. "Then go summon the guards." He replied. Yori held onto Gina, unsure what to do, and willing to follow her friend's example, whatever that may be.

Gina was too concentrated on keeping Yori safe that she did not even stop to wonder why or how she had such abilities. All she cared about now was to protect Yori. She embraced Yori with her arm a bit more warmly as if to comfort her and ensure she knew that she would not let anyone harm her. She took a moment to look at her and with the light emanating from her, Gina could see no harm had come to Yori and she sighed relieved. She kissed her head and then concentrated her remaining energies on the shield. She was coming to the conclusion, however, that her energy was slowly fading and she was growing more and more tired, and she finally gasped, since when did she develop…magic powers? Wasn’t that something only the Seishi could have? She had never thought she would be dragged into a magical world just like all the miko were and realise she was not the miko. She sighed and shook her head, she would consider these things later on. Once the danger was over.
“G-Gina-chan…”
Gina smiled tenderly at Yori and said softly, “Shhh…I’m here my Koboshi, you are safe now.” She kissed her head again and rubbed her arm with the arm of hers that was still holding her and she slowly realised her legs were growing weak. How she hoped Hayate had felt her calling for him through her mind and heart she was not sure how much longer she would hold this.
But then, she gasped in surprise and joy when she saw Hayate enter the room and start taking out the bandits that recovered from her assault. And he took them one by one. He had great aim and she could not help herself but to admire his fighting style and technique, it was so smooth and perfect it really suited the Prince. And yet, as he awaited the remaining assassin she could not help but to sigh in awe at his beauty. A gust of wind played with his long dark hair which was loosen and shook with the very fierceness he was showing in battle, his deep purple eyes shone and yet were so dark, so mysterious and then…she blushed deeply, just now she realised he was not wearing a shirt and her eyes-despite how much she tried to control herself-elided down his perfect upper body taking in every muscle and the blush intensified. She looked away for a moment.
She felt his gaze move toward them and she did not want him to know she had been staring at his body cynically while he was too busy fighting for dear life. Yet he did not seem to make a comment on her not being the miko, yet, their conversation at her balcony came back to her and she wondered if he would be a man to his word and they would not kick her out of the palace because, after all, she was not the person they had been waiting for all their lives. So where would she go form there? She felt a bit embarrassed to be honest, everyone assumed she was the miko, but so did she. And it was not something to take lightly or joke about, maybe she should have waited to see if she was truly the miko before she assumed her role. Yet, she considered it might not be a bad idea if everyone else thought she was the miko, just so all danger came to Gina and the actual miko was safe until she arrived to the palace…
“Keep that shield up as long as you can.”
She frowned, wasn’t that exactly what she was doing? She decided not to talk back and instead use her energy to keep the shield but she feared it might soon diminish. She closed her eyes and her symbol still shone as she kept her arm lifted, “it is almost over Koboshi, please hang in there…” She looked down at Yori and smiled at her. She hoped this experience had not been too much for her.
”Tell me who sent you…”
She noticed Hayate’s nod and the shield diminished and she fell on her knees. She panted and swear covered her brow but she still fought against this weakness and then slowly got up and helped Yori to her feet and embraced her warmly.
"Take her to my room. You two should be safe there."
"We can't leave you alone here, Nii-san…"
"Then go summon the guards.”
Gina did not need to summon the guards for they heard the commotion and entered the room in a hurry. After summoning a momentarily shield to protect Hayate, Gina took Yori to Hayate’s room and she played her a gentle song to lure her back into the realm of dreams. She spoke to her and embraced her and reassured her no one would leave her alone, they would be looking after her while she slept. Once the sweet child was at peace and sleeping she moved from the bed and then looked around, she closed her eyes and felt as if the assassins were no longer there; she still did not understand why she felt certain nearby presences, but she decided to ignore it for now. She rested her back against the wall facing Yori’s sleeping form and she closed her arms across her chest and closed her eyes taking in the cool breeze that entered through the balcony. She closed her eyes for a moment wondering what would happen now.
She was feeling truly tired form the energy that had confused her. She sighed and tried to relax so that she would not collapse in the bed as well. She looked at he few stars visible through the curtains and then sighed, so ‘Ox’ was her symbol? She touched the nape of her neck for a moment before she crossed her arms and eyes and waited for Hayate to come to his room. The thought that she put the royal family in grave danger if she stayed began to take up her thoughts once more.
And yet, when a bright light shone from outside she remembered watching Hayate fight and she blushed and her emerald eyes looked fixedly at the light from the moon. The last thing she wanted was for him to gable happily about his handsome face and body just to vex her as he usually did. Nonetheless she hoped Hayate would be safe.

Hayate was glad when Gina took Yori from the room. He tried repeatedly to get the leader to tell him who had sent them, but to no avail. The guards arrived and began rounding the men up. He finally moved away from the leader so he could be taken into custody as well. The leader laughed and, as the guards grabbed onto him, he vanished in a flash of light, as did the others. "Lock down the grounds." Hayate ordered. "Search everywhere for them. They attacked the Princess." The guards nodded and left. The Crown Prince searched Yori's room to make sure they weren't hiding there, somehow, and then searched Gina's for the same reason. He gave a sigh as he began to head across the hall to his own room. Adrenaline had worn off, and he began to feel a slight chill. He stopped outside his own door, and knocked very softly...loud enough to be heard, but not loud enough to wake the girls if they had fallen asleep. He felt foolish knocking on the door to his own room, but a gentleman didn't barge into a room with ladies without doing so. After he waited a respectable pause, he slipped inside. His eyes landed on the bed, and he smiled faintly to see that Yori was sleeping peacefully. Out of habit, he locked the door behind him, not stopping to think what Gina might think of the action. Those men could be somewhere still, and he wasn't fond of having an unlocked door at his back. He strode forward, and fixed his eyes on Gina. "You were injured." He said in a quiet voice. "Will you let me tend to it?" He was injured too, but he saw no reason to fuss over it. It was a little cut, really, nothing severe. He moved to a chest of drawers and took out his bag of healing remedies. It was warmer in his room than it had been in the hall, and the chill had left him. He had yet to actually realize he had no shirt on in front of the young Miko...no, not the Miko, but a Seishi. "Now we know why you saw the symbol 'Ox'." He stated as he turned back to her, healing remedies in hand to see to her wound. "There has never been an instance of a Seishi from your world before...not that I'm aware of, at least." He was curious as to what this might mean for Gina, and how the rules would differ for her, as opposed to the Miko. He wasn't worried about waking Yori, as he knew she was usually a heavy sleeper. It was only once he'd placed the bag on the bed that he seemed to realize his current state of dress. He reached up and ran a hand through his long hair as he looked away. "I apologize for not being properly attired in the company of a lady. I fear I moved without thinking this far ahead." He could get dressed, of course, but as all of his clothing was in the room they currently occupied, it may defeat the purpose. "Please forgive my impropriety."

The moment Gina heard a knock on the door she drew her blade once more just in case it was the enemy, however, and to her surprise, she felt Hayate’s presence, wasn’t this a skill only a miko could have? She was not sure what this could mean but she lowered her blade and the moment he entered the room she put her blade away. She turned to look at him and found her eyes moving down to the muscles of his chest and abdomen and as he closed the door behind him she even admired his well toned back. But she mentally slapped herself and turned to look at the sleeping Yori for a moment, she would not have such terrible thoughts, she had to learn from her, after all, she easily captivated others and she wished in a way that she was a bit more like Yori and less like Hayate. She frowned, what? Yes, she was too darn proud and stubborn but did that mean she wanted to be able to converse properly with Hayate as they did at her balcony? She did, she had enjoyed her time with the Crown Prince and had come to realise that there was a side to him she did not expect and would like to see more often. But, there was the risk he might not feel the same way and he was merely trying to be polite, he was awfully good at that. Yet, remembering the time at the balcony, she could not believe he would do that just to please her. Surely he had enjoyed that moment as much as he said he had.
She was glad she managed to help Yori recover form the shock and for a moment wished she and not accepted to be allocated to a room so close to Yori’s or even that she accepted to have a room in the palace. She was putting everyone in danger even with not being the miko. And even if she wished to pretend she was, to protect the actual miko, she was no one important. Yet how come she was a Seishi from another world? She finally felt his eyes upon her and he approached her silently. There was something exciting about seeing Hayate in the darkness, his eyes shone like pearls and his body glowed almost s if his Seishi skills were still in use.
"You were injured…Will you let me tend to it?”
She was injured, and she was a bit surprised that he wished to tend to it himself but, she looked into his eyes saying, “So are you, I would like to tend to it, if you’ll let me.” She removed her upper arm jewels and protector so that Hayate could tend to her wound more easily. She was determined though, once he finished tending to her wound she wished to do the same with him. She did not want him to dismiss an injury as small as it might be. Those can only get worse without the proper attention. Lucky for him, being a martial artist and a professional at that, she knew her way though tending to minor things and some a bit more serious cuts and wounds. She watched curiously as he took out some healing utensils and waited for her to be ready for treatment. She moved toward him and showed him the wound, it was not to serious but it was not a mere scratch either, she would have to be careful with it but once she left it rest overnight she should be fine to practice the next day. She grinned and looked up at him, she would not let him win just like that, injured or not she could still give a fair fight if his father made them spar.
"Now we know why you saw the symbol ‘Ox’...There has never been an instance of a Seishi from your world before...not that I'm aware of, at least.”
She nodded silently and did not say anything for a long time. She finally looked up at him and asked, “Does this change anything for you and your people?” The burden of helping his kingdom still weighted heavy upon her, “I know not why suddenly I was dragged here and was a Seishi from another world, I know not why this happened but…I still wish to help your kingdom and loved ones. In my opinion this truly does not change the way I feel connected to you, but, I am aware that I am no longer the miko and as such I might not deserve the kindness you and your family have bestowed upon me.” She looked up at him and would not be surprised if now, since she was not the miko, she was told to have a less privileged room. Although she still could not understand, if she was not the miko, why were these assassins sent after her? It did not make sense, if the miko was sensed even the enemy would know… or not? “Maybe we could protect the miko if we pretend I am the miko for now…It might be a god idea if few people knew of this, the Empress and perhaps Yori and Hiden…”
She allowed him to tend to her wound and did not wince or flinch knowing how to hide the pain well. Surely anyone would expect a girl to show the pain more readily than a man, but they were wrong to assume that. She was patient and allowed him as much time as he saw fit. She was impressed at how peacefully Yori seemed to sleep. It made her smile to know that the young girl had loved ones who could protect her, maybe it would be best if she left the palace and went to gather the miko and other Seishi, to keep these nice persons safe. She knew those men would return, “Did they reveal any information? Although being assassins I supposed they never would…” Maybe Hayate did not expect her to possess such knowledge either but, she did like history and was a modern version of a performance samurai so she knew her subjects. It was then she noticed he seemed a bit embarrassed and caressed his beautiful ebony hair.
“I apologize for not being properly attired in the company of a lady. I fear I moved without thinking this far ahead…Please forgive my impropriety.”
She looked into his eyes and smiled softly. Oh Hayate, he was always behaving like a Prince. Still with a smile on her lips and her emerald eyes shining like beacons, she approached him silently and placed a hand on his back, her eyes searching for his, “Hayate-kun, it would be heartless for me to judge with the laws of propriety when you saved us both from whatever those assassins had been sent to do.” She smiled and then moved her hand to his cheek, “Besides, I did not mind the view.” She winked at him taking the healing remedies form his hands and then busied herself tending to his wound hoping this would not make for one of his extremely annoying comments regarding his ego and pride.
She did her best to tend to his wound as gently as possible and then bandaged it. She smiled, “There, it will be gone soon enough, I’m only sorry you got injured and Yori got frightened because of me.” She sighed and ran a hand through her hair, the more she thought about it…the more she convinced herself that leaving the palace and dealing with the whole thing on her own would be the best thing to do. She walked toward the fire and watched it for a moment with her arms crossed around her chest. She knew what everyone would say, and so she planned not to tell anyone. She realised she was still rather tired form overusing abilities she just discovered and ran a hand through her forehead.

“So are you, I would like to tend to it, if you’ll let me.”Hayate was surprised. She was concerned about his silly little cut? Still, his father had taught him that it was good for brothers-in-arms to attend to each others' injuries following a battle, saying it helped further the bonds of brotherhood, and helped encourage one to look out for those he fought with. After all, if you know you'll be tending the wounds later, it's best to make sure no one receives one you don't know how to tend. Ghina was a Seishi, and that made her a fellow warrior. He was thempted to use the phrase 'brother-in-arms'. but as Gina was a girl, he wasn't sure exactly what the proper term would be. He nodded simply to her request to treat his wound. "If you wish..." “Does this change anything for you and your people? I know not why suddenly I was dragged here and was a Seishi from another world, I know not why this happened but…I still wish to help your kingdom and loved ones. In my opinion this truly does not change the way I feel connected to you, but, I am aware that I am no longer the miko and as such I might not deserve the kindness you and your family have bestowed upon me.”Hayate focused on tending to her wound, but looked up suddenly with her words. Something in it irked him. Had he not told her, just hours ago, that whatever her role was, he would do his best to assist her? His purple eyes flashed for a moment before he looked back to what he was doing. "Do you think so little of my family that we would toss you aside because of circumstances beyond your control?" He took a deep breath and held it for a moment, closing his eyes as he released it slowly, Anger was not the way to respond, Her fears, though unfounded, were understandable. "The situation has changed. Instead of finding the Miko, I have found a Seishi. Either way, you were specially chosen by Genbu and transported here to fulfill a duty." He opened his eyes, feeling a little less annoyed. "I told you I would assist you with whatever your task was, did I not? And that will not change now." He finished tending her wound, tying the bandage securely before he looked into her emerald eyes. "Your task may not be what we originally expected, but otherwise nothing has changed. All offers still stand, and everything that has been allotted to you is still yours." Still, he wondered if this was not a blessing in disguise. If he were to spread the word that Gina was the Miko, it would draw attention away from the actual Miko...at least until they could locate her and insure her safety. He held the remedies out to Gina, as she had wanted to tend his injury. “Maybe we could protect the miko if we pretend I am the miko for now…It might be a god idea if few people knew of this, the Empress and perhaps Yori and Hiden…”His purple eyes met her green once more. She had the exact same thought he had, it seemed. He nodded. "I was just thinking that, actually..." He confessed. He brought the hand on his uninjured arm up to rub at his chin in thought. It would be dangerous, but as a Crown Prince and Seishi, danger was an accepted part of his life. He would be vigilant, of course, to insure nothing like the events earlier that evening occurred again, but otherwise, this would be a good plan. "We can set out, under the guise of looking for the rest of your Seishi, and secretly attempt to track down the Miko and the rest of our fellow Seishi." It wasn't something they could embark on immediately, as the ball his mother planned would be the perfect way to spread the word that Gina was the Miko and cement their little ruse. Still, he'd speak to his mother to ensure it happened sooner rather than later. There was little time to waste if people were already trying to attack the Miko. “Did they reveal any information? Although being assassins I supposed they never would…”Hayate shook his head. "They..vanished. I am not sure what they were, only that they were not human, and were not Seishi. They have escaped, but I feel they will not be foolish enough to try again any time soon." He knew there were certain magical defenses that could be put into play. He'd avoided them because he wasn't sure how they would affect Seishi, but perhaps it was time to take the chance and see... “Hayate-kun, it would be heartless for me to judge with the laws of propriety when you saved us both from whatever those assassins had been sent to do. Besides, I did not mind the view.”For some reason, Hayate was surprised when she touched his back and then his cheek. her hand was warm, and it was not an unpleasant sensation, if a bit more intimate than was proper. As she'd said, the rules of propriety did not necessarily apply in such a situation. He smirked when she said she enjoyed the view. Still, as he looked into her eyes, he felt his cheeks warm ever-so-slightly. Gina found him attractive, then? Well, naturally she would, but it was still a little surprise. She was quite lovely, after all, surely she'd seen many handsome men in her lifetime. Thankful for the dim light from the fire, he looked away for a moment, sure she had not seen the faint blush. He handled her tending his wound well. He showed the same stoicism he often displayed elsewhere. It did sting, but that was nothing he could not handle, and he'd been injured worse in practice before. He wondered if he should comment, but for once the eloquent prince could think of nothing to say. “There, it will be gone soon enough, I’m only sorry you got injured and Yori got frightened because of me.”Hayate was surprised when he reached up and placed a hand on Gina's cheek in the same way she had him a moment ago. "Gina-chan, I am grateful that you came to my sister's rescue. Though I was nearby, I shudder to think what would have happened in the time it took me to get there had you not intervened." His hand dropped from her face and he took the bag of remedies to put them away. "I feel you have nothing to apologize for, and I am sure Yori feels the same way. For once you are her hero..." He gave her a very small smile. "And you have the makings of a decent medic..." He looked down at his bandage before adding teasingly. "With practice." He looked at Yori curled up asleep in his bed. It would be cruel to wake her and send her back to her room alone. No, far better that she rest in comfort where she was. He looked to Gina. "You are welcome to stay the night in here as well." He told her, nodding to the bed. "Yori would most likely prefer company, and as I said, you are the hero of the hour." He moved to pick up the shirt he would've put on, had he given the matter any thought befroe charging into the fray. He pulled it on and began to button it. "I can stay in her room for the night." He mentally cringed at the thought of the pastels and pinks, and all the stuffed animals. It was one of those things he'd never hear the end of if Hiden caught him sleeping there, but he doubted Gina would like if he slept sitting against the wall in his own room as she and Yori slept. That was his preferred course of action, as he wished to keep an eye on them both, but he could tell the older girl woudl dismiss the thought if he suggested it, so he didn't see a point in bothering.
