“I…I understand…do what you think is best. I need that hand nursed back into health.”He'd seen a bit of confusion in her eyes as he waited for her permission to look at her wrist. Did she not think that a Crown Prince should also know how to do such things? Or was it simply that she was trying to make his current behavior and his behavior back before she'd fallen into the lake make sense? It didn't matter really. Either way, he would look after her wrist, and he would apologize for his earlier actions, and perhaps between the two actions she would be able to forgive him. “I am sorry I hurt that spoiled girl but… I cannot stand those who do not care for others, those who will stop ay nothing until they get what they want and it was pretty obvious to me what she was after, and… I was worried about you, you were shaking all because of me and, well, I was to happy that I got hurt because of her…”He was surprised to hear that she was as worried about him as he was about her. He thought for a moment about how to respond. Lulu was technically a member of the court, and he could not simply insult her. "Lulu...has never been told no, and is used to getting all she desires." He glanced over at Gina for a moment before looking back at the fire. "This may prove to be good for her after all..." He knew the thought of Gina hitting Lulu would be one he'd call on whenever he needed to be cheered up. He was a little surprised when Gina asked Mei to bring him a drink as well. It showed a level of thoughtfulness, and he appreciated it. “Hayate-kun, I…also wanted to apologise for what I said and for leaving without telling you. I just…didn’t want any harm to come to you or your family and I was so confused and frightened, it is not easy to wake up and suddenly be far away form home, from all you have ever known, I could not even bid my family farewell and they are probably worrying right now…So…I am sorry if I upset or worry you back then.”He was surprised when she apologized as well. "I cannot imagine the sadness you must feel being so far from home." He said. "I will not say I know how you feel, because we both know I do not...but I would like to do all within my poser to help you feel less confused and frightened." He nodded to her last words, accepting her apology, Perhaps now that was done, they'd be able to actually start working together. He knew it was as hard for her to hold back her pride and apologize as it was for him to, so he did appreciate and understand that much. “I understand, I am sorry. You…you saved me from a terrible experience Hayate-kun, I will never forget that something could have happened to you as well and you still did everything to save me, even take me back to the Palace despite suffering from the same things as I was…thank you…”"There is no need for thanks, Gina-chan, but I appreciate the gesture. I was not in the water as long as you were, so the effects were not quite as severe for me...besides, I could not very well pull you from the lake just so we both sat there and froze to death, now could I?" He gave her a small smile. "I know how terrible it is...falling through the ice like that..." He debated whether or not he should tell her, but decided he would. "When I was six, I was playing in the woods." He'd been playing with Meian, his younger brother, but mentioning that would raise too many questions. "The ice looked solid, so I ran across the lake. Half-way out, the ice broke and I fell in. My father saved me, but I was sick for a week after that." He was glad Meian had not fallen in as well. "After that, my father taught me what to do to save myself or someone else, should that happen again..." “After all you did, it would be cruel of me not to forgive you, Hayate-kun. If I go on that journey again, this time, I will ensure to tell my fellow Seishi of it and we will do it together with his advice and guidance."He had not expected her to place her hand on his, but he really had not expected her to kiss his cheek. It was the sort of thing his mother and Yori did often, but it was different somehow because it was Gina. He felt his cheeks warm faintly, though it would be barely noticeable, and he decided to answer her words. "In that case, once you are recovered, we will begin preparations and planning...together." “Hayate-kun, could you stay here a bit longer today? I know you are as proud as me if not more, and for that I…appreciate the words you have granted me while you tended to my wrist.”Mei entered with the drinks, and Hayate thanked her, taking his own and offering Gina hers. "If you would like me to stay, I will. Besides, I need to oversee icing that wrist." He said after sipping the warm liquid. He set his cup down before copying a gesture she'd done earlier, placing his hand on top of her good hand, though he didn't squeeze or caress her hand. "Perhaps this mutual pride is a blessing and a curse. I think we understand one another better than most others...but it is also harder for us to communicate our thoughts, especially with one another." Here he did give her hand a soft squeeze before picking up his drink once more. He looked to the fire. "I have only ever had one friend, Gina-chan, and my family, so this is a new experience for me. I may have to occasionally seek your guidance and request forgiveness if I do not always say or do the right thing..." Mei returned shortly after with a large bowl of fresh snow. The snow would reduce the swelling, but wouldn't be as harsh a cold as ice would have. He thanked her once more and set his cup aside, taking the bowl and placing it on the couch between them. "If you are ready..." He then gently took her sprained wrist and placed it in the bowl, carefully packing the snow around the wrist, but minimizing how much it touched the rest of her arm. "If you can stand it just a few minutes, we'll be done for a while...but if it is too much, let me know..." He wasn't sure why, but he actually almost enjoyed looking after Gina like this.

"Lulu...has never been told no, and is used to getting all she desires…This may prove to be good for her after all..."
She was surprised to hear Hayate speak in such a way regarding Lulu although she wanted to growl when he mentioned her name with so much respect. She could not blame him though, he was the Crown Prince and had to show respect to all members of the court especially when the smallest offence could be used against him. She knew a lot about the history of her world, many nobles used the smallest excuse to overthrow a monarch, to start a war and could even destroy entire kingdoms on a whim. That was one of the reasons she regretted what she did too late but if she and to stand for the kingdom to oppose Hiroto and his spoiled brat she would gladly oblige, she could even use the injury she received against them and as the miko people would be offended at his actions. Right, she was not truly the miko but she really believed that those two needed to be taught a lesson. The Prince’s last words surprised her greatly, he was not angry or concerned with what she had just done? It seemed to her everyone was glad she had punched her. Although, would that mean she was to stay in the Palace for longer and then demand Hayate looked after her? She would feel awful if he was enslaved to her will just because she was probably jealous that he was looking after Gina instead.
See? That was why she could not stand people like that. That was the very reason, they always used everything to their advantage and Gina had to deal with people like that back home and, honestly, being on your guard all day with everything you did or said when in the company of that people…it was truly exhausting. How did Hayate manage to stand people like that every day? How did he manage not to go insane from all he nonsense? She looked down for a moment thinking that had she not tried to leave that morning none of this would have ever happened. And yet, her thoughts brought her back to all the omen she had been alone with Hayate and she blushed slightly remembering his well toned chest when he had fought shirtless. She looked up at him, he had been gentle with her, and she had pushed him to the limit when she tried to run away.
This only made her decide that, if Lulu tried to force Hayate to look after her and stop him from following his duties, then gina would do everything at hand to help him get away from that uncomfortable situation. Judging by what Yori had said last night, he truly did not like her so it would be torture having to spend time with someone who would probably use the smallest moment of intimacy to force the Crown Prince into an uncomfortable situation just so that he would marry her and she could become Empress. How empty these persons had to be to try and force themselves into the royal family like that, it was like going goose hunting, they just thought it was some sport or something. It disgusted her. She looked into his eyes and was not sure if she saw mirth shining on them, had he thought that situation comical? Maybe it had bee for those who had watched her punch that pathetic worm. But she decided not to tease him about it, after all, she did not want him to go back to his stoic self when he seemed to be so agreeable now.
"I cannot imagine the sadness you must feel being so far from home…I will not say I know how you feel, because we both know I do not...but I would like to do all within my poser to help you feel less confused and frightened.”
Emerald eyes met purple ones, she was surprised he was being so gentle now, but she appreciated that and she would gladly take this side of her for as long as he offered it. She smiled softly and then said, “Your words help far more than you think…I feel less confessed and frightened already.” It was true though, somehow Hayate and Yori helped her a lot, in fact, Sumiko was also helpful in her own naughty way. “You and your family are a true gift from the stars, I do not know how I would be if I had fallen elsewhere, I guess things happen for a reason.” She shivered to think what could have happened if she had fallen into a rather dark and fearful kingdom, in a way she felt she had been luckier than AKahana in that aspect, although, she was much tougher than Gina, so she should actually fit well in Kutou. She wondered how she was now and if she and finally settled in that way of life and got on with her Seishi, they seemed to be nice people.
"There is no need for thanks, Gina-chan, but I appreciate the gesture. I was not in the water as long as you were, so the effects were not quite as severe for me...besides, I could not very well pull you from the lake just so we both sat there and froze to death, now could I?”
She found herself smiling, no, laughing softly at his last words and her eyes regained a bit of their usual sparkle. She only hoped this was not him making an effort to just please her, she wanted this to be a side of him that few got to see but that was there. She noticed he still had a bit of snow on his fringe and she slowly reached out with her healthy hand and removed it softly, watching it melt with her touch, maybe she had to expose herself to the snow and the lake again soon so that she did not develop a fear of it that could be used to harm her. She did not want to do that just yet but, it was something to consider, after all, Hokkan was covered in snow so it would be quite pointless nonetheless to resist getting any close to snow. Her attention was dragged back to the Prince tending to her sprained wrist.
“I know how terrible it is...falling through the ice like that...When I was six, I was playing in the woods…The ice looked solid, so I ran across the lake. Half-way out, the ice broke and I fell in. My father saved me, but I was sick for a week after that…After that, my father taught me what to do to save myself or someone else, should that happen again…”
She was aghast, it happened to him before? She imagined he must have been adorable when he was a child, and probably as gentle as he was now. She tok in his words and she was worried, he had been sick for a week? She looked into his eyes, no mockery in her words, “I am sorry though, I am glad you were saved. Maybe…at some point you could teach me?” It would help her overcome this fear and uncomfortable feeling whenever she thought about freezing to death. She knew Hayate promised to protect her but, there would come a time when the real miko would come and he would be one of the Seishi to feel a greater duty to protect her and so he would not always be around to save her form her problems. So it would probably be best for her to learn to fence for herself in these lands.
"In that case, once you are recovered, we will begin preparations and planning…together.”
She smiled and nodded, “I would like that, very much.” She was feeling so much better already. Through Mei’s and Hayate’s care she truly felt pampered and only hoped she did not sound like a spoiled child when she was around Hayate. She was glad that they have forgiveness one another but their adventure was just starting. They would have to work together to ensure Lulu did not cause more problems, well, Lulu and her father Hiroto, that is. Gina always admitted when she made a mistake as difficult as it was for her, but she did eventually. As such she wanted to take responsibility for her actions and help Hayate confront Lulu if they came to that. She was not afraid and knew that nether her or her father would be able to harm her again. This time she would be ready to confront them not with her strength but with her mind.
“If you would like me to stay, I will. Besides, I need to oversee icing that wrist.”
She smiled at him and then took a long sip of the warm contents of her cup, she noticed Mei had brought a teapot for them to drink some more, bless her! And then she remembered she was meant to come practice with Hayate and Cho, she felt terrible, he would probably feel let down that not only did she not go but she also kept his son from going, “I am so sorry Hayate-kun, I forgot about practice this morning…and I have kept you away…” She truly felt like face palming feeling that all she had done for this wonderful family is disrupt their lives completely.
“Perhaps this mutual pride is a blessing and a curse. I think we understand one another better than most others...but it is also harder for us to communicate our thoughts, especially with one another.”
She felt him place his hand on her healthy one and she rekindled the feeling the night before, she was not uncomfortable nor did she mind really, actually it felt reassuring and it emphasised they were having a conversation where both parties could comprehend one another and she nodded to his words, “That is true.” It seemed to her both could even read what the other would do beforehand, “That was why you knew I would try and leave, that is why I knew you would save me when I fell…” Yes, despite how much she suffered as the water swallowed her whole, a thought always forced her to survive, Hayate would not watch her drown, not if he could help it.
“I have only ever had one friend, Gina-chan, and my family, so this is a new experience for me. I may have to occasionally seek your guidance and request forgiveness if I do not always say or do the right thing…”
She felt his hand lightly squeeze hers and her eyes met his. It was as if the veil had been pulled and she could see Hayate for what he truly was. He used his charm and ego to shelter himself form the obvious truth, he had far fewer friends than anyone would expect a handsome Prince to have. Not only for lack of people skills but also because win such an environment it was difficult to trust others. They were always bound to let you down. The moment his hand squeezed hers, her hand held his and squeezed back, it was a promise. She smiled softly and her long silvery white hair shook with a light gust of wind while she said, “Then, Hayate-kun, I will be your friend and guide you when you need me to, but you must learn to ask me and trust that I would never put you in ridicule for doing so. I am rather unsure of the customs in this kingdom but I will gladly learn form you as well.”
“Hopefully this will help us accept each other more readily and we will become very good friends. It’s a promise…” She smiled at him and kissed his cheek to seal her promise before she finished what was in her cup. After the first icing of her wrist she would try and serve herself some more tea.
“If you are ready… If you can stand it just a few minutes, we'll be done for a while...but if it is too much, let me know…”
Gina nodded at him as she watched him place her wrist on the bowl with snow and then she took breaths, she would do her best to concentrate on other things so that she did not feel the cold too much…

“Your words help far more than you think…I feel less confessed and frightened already. You and your family are a true gift from the stars, I do not know how I would be if I had fallen elsewhere, I guess things happen for a reason.”"They do." Hayate agreed quietly. "Those reasons may not always be clear to us, but the Gods know what they are doing." He would love to know the reasons behind their actions, as he thought about his brother, but he figured Suzaku had chosen him for a Seishi for a reason. He was just glad Yori was not also a Seishi. That would be too much for his mother to handle, he feared. He pushed thoughts of family aside, and looked at Gina once more. He remembered something she had mentioned the night before when they'd been talking on her balcony. "You said you were reading about your friend who was a Miko when you were pulled in. Seriyuu, wasn't it?" He considered for a moment. "I know the Emperor of Kutou is a Seishi. If you'd like, I could send him a letter and inquire about your friend. If he's found her, he'd be glad to keep me posted on her well being. you could even write a note to her, if you wish, and I would include it." It wasn't much, but surely being able to talk to her friend, even indirectly, would help her further feel at ease. “I am sorry though, I am glad you were saved. Maybe…at some point you could teach me?”He smiled, just for an instant, when she laughed. It was a rather musical sound, and he was fond of it, though he may not ever admit so, even to himself. He nodded to her question. "I will, if that is what you wish. Not now, though...not until you're fully recovered." It would be begging for trouble not to wait until they were both in top form to try such a thing. "Until then, dismiss the lake from your thoughts. You are safe now, and there is no need in fretting over it." He hoped she didn't have nightmares about it. He had, when he was little, until his father taught him how to save himself. Perhaps he'd keep watch on her dreams to make sure she didn't... “I am so sorry Hayate-kun, I forgot about practice this morning…and I have kept you away…”Hayate chuckled softly. "Do not concern yourself, Gina-chan. I am sure Hiden filled Father in on all that happened when he left my room." He knew his friend well, and though he'd said he was going to bed, he knew he'd make sure Cho knew why Gina and Hayate were absent. "I suspect Father will have enough on his hands that he will not mind my absence this once. I will make up the training time later." He looked down at the bandaged hand before he drank some more. "I do regret that your injury will prevent us from sparring. I was looking forward to seeing what your world had to offer in the way of an opponent." “That is true. That was why you knew I would try and leave, that is why I knew you would save me when I fell…” Hayate nodded. "If the roles had been reversed, I would've done the same, for the same reasons." He smiled faintly. "Though I'm surprised you trusted me to save you...after all that I said." He looked down at the cup in his hands. "I didn't even think about it, really. I saw it was going to happen, and I responded." He finished his drink, and reached for the pot to refill his cup before looking to Gina to see if she wanted more. "Perhaps we are too much alike...but now that we know that, it can be an advantage...if we are careful, anyway..." “Then, Hayate-kun, I will be your friend and guide you when you need me to, but you must learn to ask me and trust that I would never put you in ridicule for doing so. I am rather unsure of the customs in this kingdom but I will gladly learn form you as well. Hopefully this will help us accept each other more readily and we will become very good friends. It’s a promise…”Hayate nodded, smiling a little once more. "The same goes for you, Gina-chan. I will guide you as best I can in our customs, but you must ask if you need help. I will not mock you for doing so." He smirked. "And if I do, you have my permission to give me a sound reminder upside the head that I promised not to." He nodded. "It is, indeed a promise...my friend..." He felt his cheeks warm when she kissed it, and looked into the fire for a moment. Only his mother and Yori had ever done so before, and he found he didn't mind t hat Gina had. He'd hate if Lulu, or any of the other noblewomen tried such a thing, but Gina was his friend, and so she was different...right? He was careful to pack the snow around the swollen areas of her wrist and hand. He was gentle with it, as he didn't wish to cause her any more pain. Once it was packed in well enough, he rested the bowl in his lap so he could keep an eye on it and remove Gina's hand when the time came. "We'll have to do this periodically until the swelling goes down." He told her. "Every hour or so, perhaps...and once the swelling is down, I may have to rewrap it to keep it immobile." For some reason, he had naturally assumed he'd be the one to look after her until it was healed. He felt responsible. If he hadn't said what he did by the lake, she wouldn't have fallen in, and as a result he wouldn't have dropped her, causing the injury. Lulu was to blame as well, but he felt the primary responsibility was his own. Afte he'd deemed it'd been long enough, he carefully removed her wrist from the melting snow. He passed the bowl to Mei who carried it to the balcony to dump it out. He then picked up a clean towel left unused from Gina's bath, and did his best to gently dry excess water from the bandage and her skin. He then moved closer to her on the couch, and wrapped the hand gently in the blankets around Gina before resting it between them, hoping their combined body heat would soon help warm up the chilled skin once more. "If you wish to rest, you need only let me know..."

”They do…Those reasons may not always be clear to us, but the Gods know what they are doing.”
She wondered if they truly did, why send her form her world to become a Seishi? She had never felt any magical powers back in Okinawa, it was all so confusing. And surely the people from this kingdom would not warm up to the idea of having an inexperienced Seishi in their land who was not even from that world. Would they be appalled by the thought? Would they demand she left? Well, for now she would not linger too long on such thoughts, after all, Hayate had promised to protect her and she remembered the last time she had challenged such promise and she was willing to give this Prince one chance to show he would indeed keep his promise. And so she decided to accede this one time and she nodded to his words. Hopefully she and Hayate would soon learn why she had been called and made into a Seishi, or could it be she had been a Seishi all along and never noticed? She deduced this because it seemed to her that mikes were suddenly summoned and exposed to the Four Kingdoms whereas all Seishi knew what they were and practice their skills to protect that miko. So, she wondered if she could have known this back at her world.
“You said you were reading about your friend who was a Miko when you were pulled in. Seriyuu, wasn't it? I know the Emperor of Kutou is a Seishi. If you'd like, I could send him a letter and inquire about your friend. If he's found her, he'd be glad to keep me posted on her well being. you could even write a note to her, if you wish, and I would include it.”
Gina’s eyes suddenly fixed on Hayate’s, he would truly do something as wonderful as that for her? She was…speechless…and did not know what to say, which was usually strange of her. She blinked again and said, “Do you truly mean it? I could talk to Akahana and the Emperor would not mind?” A small smile was beginning to reside in her lips as she said more merrily, “Thank you Hayate-kun, you are such a wonderful person!” She embraced him with her healthy arm and kissed his cheek feeling too happy to care if this was proper or not. In all honesty as much as she could try she was still part of a humble family and failed to see the need in so many formalities. Though she hoped that Akahana’s Seishi and kingdom were nice enough, she had read so much about history and some Kings and their ideologies could be rather strange. She still knew that she was lucky to be in this Palace. She sat back suddenly realising she was still embracing Hayate and she looked at her hand as it laid on the bowl, wanting to pretend she had something to keep her eyes entertained not wanting to see the face of disgust at her sudden reaction.
"I will, if that is what you wish. Not now, though...not until you're fully recovered…Until then, dismiss the lake from your thoughts. You are safe now, and there is no need in fretting over it.”
She saw that smile in his lips and for a moment wished she could see it more often. She thought back on the things she had done or said trying to guess which one had placed that delightful smile on his lips. But, sadly, it was gone as soon as it came. She nodded to his words and said, “Very well, I will do as you say.” She was not fond of giving in to other people’s wishes or commands but she knew he was right here, if she kept thinking on it she would only make things worse. Gina was a proud woman and she seldom accepted great criticism for the things she did or said, nonetheless, that did not mean she never admitted when she was wrong. There were occasions she did admit things and this was one of them.
“Do not concern yourself, Gina-chan. I am sure Hiden filled Father in on all that happened when he left my room.”
She blushed lightly at his words and nodded feeling a bit silly. She still forgot she was no longer in her town in Okinawa or that she needed to do anything at all. In the palace news travelled fast and she also suspected that Hiden would have ensured they could spend some time in each other’s company to make amends for what had happened. She looked back at her hand as she saw the swollen areas still there but it was lessening.
“I suspect Father will have enough on his hands that he will not mind my absence this once. I will make up the training time later…I do regret that your injury will prevent us from sparring. I was looking forward to seeing what your world had to offer in the way of an opponent.”
She looked up at him, defiance in her eyes as she grinned, “Hayate-kun, it is a sprain, I will heal with time and I’ll have you know I tend to heal very fast. I have had lots of injuries in the past…” She laughed softly and then sighed, it was strange the life she had led, because she wished to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a samurai, everyone called her a tomboy, but since she was also a dancer then they decided she was simply a show-off. She wondered if this was also what the Crown Prince of Hokkan thought of her.
“If the roles had been reversed, I would've done the same, for the same reasons.”
She knew that was true.
“Though I'm surprised you trusted me to save you...after all that I said…I didn't even think about it, really. I saw it was going to happen, and I responded.”
She smirked at his words rather sadly, was he trying to imply he had only saved her by mere reaction? No, who in their right mind would enter the cold water in an attempt to save someone? He was probably trying to remove merit from his deed but that would never happen in her eyes, “You saved my life, which proves my intuition to be effective.” She then thought for a moment before turning to look at him, “It is hard to explain but, it seems to me this connection we share allows me to sense you when you are near and in a way, sense your reactions, does that make any sense? I probably hit my head when I fell in that lake…” She shook her head and then drank some more tea and thanked Hayate when he served her some more.
“Perhaps we are too much alike...but now that we know that, it can be an advantage...if we are careful, anyway…”
She nodded and smiled up at him, “Yes, we must make the best of it. And I deem this will also be useful when fighting together but, we might find it difficult when sparring…” she chuckled, “The match would probably always end in a tie.”
“The same goes for you, Gina-chan. I will guide you as best I can in our customs, but you must ask if you need help. I will not mock you for doing so…And if I do, you have my permission to give me a sound reminder upside the head that I promised not to… It is, indeed a promise...my friend…”
She smiled at him and realised she felt something in her heart stir at his last words, especially when he called her his friend, she grinned and said, “I will take that as an oath Hayate-kun, and shoudl you break your end I will indeed slap you to remind you that you are being Mr. Narcissus again…” She smiled at him though and noticed the slight blush on his cheeks and instead of simply dismissing it, it made her smile tenderly and she also looked back at the flames, it seemed to her that the Prince had never been close to a lady before, not as a friend or as a couple. She smiled, she had never had a couple herself so she could understand if he found her overwhelming at times…
“We’ll have to do this periodically until the swelling goes down… Every hour or so, perhaps...and once the swelling is down, I may have to rewrap it to keep it immobile.”
He really seemed to know so much about all these things, she blushed lightly at the fact that the Crown Prince was tending to her silly little injury, a wrist sprain… she nodded at his words and after a long while of having her arm on the ice she winced lightly and said, “I’m afraid I won’t be able to have my hand in there for much longer.” He did say she could tell him when she could no longer handle it…
If you wish to rest, you need only let me know…”
It was in the way he so carefully and gently looked after her wounds that Gina fund herself in awe of this man. She node at his words though and then closed her eyes for a moment and without realising she leaned her head on his solder enjoying the warmth of the blankets and of the person sitting next to her. Her eyes looked back at the flames.

“Do you truly mean it? I could talk to Akahana and the Emperor would not mind? Thank you Hayate-kun, you are such a wonderful person!”Hayate felt his cheeks warm slightly when she embraced him and kissed his cheek. He wondered if all girls were so bold in her homeland. Still, perhaps this was how friends behaved. He placed a hand on her back, and patted it gently in response. "It is not an inconvenience to do so, and Shun has proven to be a fair and kind ruler since he took the throne in Kutou. I was sent as the representative of the Hokkan palace to his coronation and we have remained in contact since. If you will prepare the note for your friend, I shall have it sent via our fastest messenger." Or, perhaps by Meian, if he showed up and was not busy. He always moved faster than any messenger when it came to these things. Again, he was nearly distracted by thoughts of his little brother, but he pushed those aside, focusing instead on the conversation at hand. He felt his ego puff up a bit when she said he was wonderful. He did enjoy being praised-who didn't?-even if it was for something so small that seemed like a common courtesy to him. “Very well, I will do as you say.”Hayate chuckled softly. "I have the instinctive impression, Gina-chan, that very few men have ever heard you speak those words. I feel honored to be among their ranks." His tone was teasing, but he felt sure in his statement. She was like him, and he could count on one hand the number of people he had said that to. He hoped she could tell he really did appropriate that she would trust his judgement. “Hayate-kun, it is a sprain, I will heal with time and I’ll have you know I tend to heal very fast. I have had lots of injuries in the past…”He smirked, glad to see the defiance in her eyes, and his own sparkled with challenge and...enjoyment. He enjoyed that there was someone in the palace unafraid to try and put him in his place. It made for a nice change. When he spoke, there was no mockery in his voice. "I am glad to hear that, Lady Samurai." The defiance meant she was recovering well from her ordeal that morning. "Just remember, I have trained to recognize injuries, and I will know if you try to use this wrist before it is healed." It was true, too. His father had stressed such lessons as part of his training. “You saved my life, which proves my intuition to be effective. It is hard to explain but, it seems to me this connection we share allows me to sense you when you are near and in a way, sense your reactions, does that make any sense? I probably hit my head when I fell in that lake…”He chuckled, but it was not a mocking sound. "You did not hit your head, Gina-chan." He assured, sipping his own hot drink once more. "I believe I understand what it is you are saying. I think that might be how I knew...you would try to leave last night, and perhaps that you'd head out across the ice in the first place." He nearly shivered at the memory of the cold. "I think that allowed me to begin to make preparations to save you before the ice even cracked..." It was his turn to wonder if that made sense, but unlike Gina he would not voice that question out loud. “Yes, we must make the best of it. And I deem this will also be useful when fighting together but, we might find it difficult when sparring… The match would probably always end in a tie.”Hayate smirked and raised an eyebrow at her. "I'll have you know, I've never had a sparring match end in a tie." He won most of them, but had lost a few to his father, especially while training. He looked back to the fire. "It should be quite useful in battle. I believe it will make it easier to work together against our foes, perhaps in ways they do not expect." He looked over at her once more. "Once you are recovered, I think it would be wise to train with both weapons and our abilities. We need to work out how they work together...and at any rate, you need to get used to using your abilities." He knew that Mei was in the room, but he trusted the maid not to spread the word that Gina was a Seishi and not the Miko. He intended to tell his mother and Yori of their agreed plan to let her pose as the Miko, and perhaps Hiden as well, but there was no reason to tell anyone else. “I will take that as an oath Hayate-kun, and shoudl you break your end I will indeed slap you to remind you that you are being Mr. Narcissus again…”His lips twitched slightly at the nickname. He cleared his throat before he decided to tease just a little. "Likewise, Gina-chan, I shall feel obligated to tell you if ever you are being too damned stubborn for your own good." He silently implied he hoped she'd do the same for him. They were too much alike, after all, and seemed to understand each others' way of thinking more than anyone else ever had. Yes, perhaps this was what friendship was like... “I’m afraid I won’t be able to have my hand in there for much longer.”Hayate nodded, and gently removed her hand from the snow. "You did very well, Gina-chan, and I think you've been quite brave. It would be difficult for most to face the cold so soon after what you had gone through." Again, there was no mockery in his tone. He was sincere. He dried her hand and did his best to help it regain warmth. When Mei returned from dumping the remaining snow, he waved her over. "Mei, if you would have some food sent for the both of us, it would be greatly appreciated. You may then take some time off. You have worked hard tending to the lady, and your assistance is appreciated." When she left to see to the food, he looked back to Gina. "I presume, since we both missed breakfast, that you would be as hungry as I am." He was surprised when she leaned her head on his shoulder, and looked at the fireplace, but he said nothing, and didn't pull away. Instead, he hesitated for a moment before putting his arm around her shoulder. He checked to make sure she was well encompassed in the blankets, and wanted to make sure she was warm enough. He then shifted slightly to be more comfortable, but without jostling her head from his shoulder. This felt...nice. He was warm and comfortable, and quite enjoyed Gina's company...when she was not being stubborn.

"It is not an inconvenience to do so, and Shun has proven to be a fair and kind ruler since he took the throne in Kutou. I was sent as the representative of the Hokkan palace to his coronation and we have remained in contact since. If you will prepare the note for your friend, I shall have it sent via our fastest messenger.”
She smiled and nodded although she hoped he would not be offended by her sudden outburst of joy. She moved away from him and looked down saying, “Please forgive me, I… I was quite happy with your suggestion I hope I did not offend you…” She dared not meet his gaze because she also did not want him to offend her again with one of his crude and egotistical comments, so instead she placed her hand down and examined the wrist it seemed to be losing the swollen bits already. Yet, she was still thrilled of being able to communicate with Akahana and ensure she was well. It was a comfort to be able to keep in touch with someone from your world. She was one of her closest friends and knew that she would understand her better than anyone else, although, thinking back on Hayate it seemed that…she had come across someone who not only could understand her but read her thoughts as she read his. And the more time they spent together the more she was beginning to comprehend his behaviour and motivations. And she wish this had been the case form the very beginning because they could have started with the right foot. Well, at least they had made peace just know, although would he be angry at her boldness? He was the Crown Prince after all and surely it was not normal for a mere peasant to embrace him like she had…It was just so hard to get used to such rules.
"I have the instinctive impression, Gina-chan, that very few men have ever heard you speak those words. I feel honored to be among their ranks.”
She rolled her eyes and smirked saying, “Don’t push your luck.” She winked at him as her eyes moved back to the fire she had never seen a live fireplace like this one and just watching the flames sparkle was truly bewitching, she watched in fascination as something that could burn should also turn out to be so beautiful… “It looks so beautiful from afar…” She smiled and cuddled better in her blankets almost feeling bad that Hayate was not covering himself as well but, at least they both had warm drinks in their hands and hers was doing an incredible job now. And the company was so enjoyable that she almost completely forgot about the incident of that cold morning. She would do her best to recover soon so that she could learn how to fight this new fear and ensure to survive should that ever happen again.
"I am glad to hear that, Lady Samurai…Just remember, I have trained to recognize injuries, and I will know if you try to use this wrist before it is healed.”
Gina smirked and said turning to look into his amethyst eyes, “It is foolish to fight with an injury, you only make it worse, so you can be sure I would never do that…” Li Bing always ensured his daughter was completely honest whenever she was injured because tun the wound could be treated and she could be back i the game more easily than should the injury get worse. She knew though that if Hiroto ever came at her again she would use this against him before the Empress, she was no one to be trifled with and she only reacted to the abuse she received from his daughter, who got her injured in the first place. She never attacked others, but she felt threatened, she had almost died frozen in a lake and she was already thrown to the floor as if she were garbage… She did not take that lightly.
"You did not hit your head, Gina-chan…I believe I understand what it is you are saying. I think that might be how I knew...you would try to leave last night, and perhaps that you'd head out across the ice in the first place…I think that allowed me to begin to make preparations to save you before the ice even cracked…”
She noticed how he suddenly finished his sentence and seemed lost in thought and she chuckled, aiming to test if they truly shared that mind bond she said openly, “I do not know about others but, it makes perfect sense to me.” She had felt that from the very beginning, it was one of the reasons she had believed she was the miko since they sensed something about their Seishi as one of their many talents. And it was the reason she now could not understand why they shared that bond when in reality she was a Seishi. Only Byakko knew the purposes of such a thing but now that they agreed to become friends it would be a card to play to their advantage against their foe.
"I'll have you know, I've never had a sparring match end in a tie.”
Gina grinned, it was her turn to tease him, “Is that so? Then be prepared to lose.” She ran her healthy hand through her long silvery-white hair and was glad to see it had finally dried. It was then she realised she was getting quite hungry but she decided against telling anything to Hayate, the last thing she wanted was for him to think her a pig.
”It should be quite useful in battle. I believe it will make it easier to work together against our foes, perhaps in ways they do not expect…Once you are recovered, I think it would be wise to train with both weapons and our abilities. We need to work out how they work together...and at any rate, you need to get used to using your abilities.”
She looked back at the flames and arched her back stretching her arms for a moment, she nodded, it was a sensible thing to do, after all she had only newly discovered her powers and she truly wanted to understand them before she did anything else. She want to be an actual Seishi: someone capable of protecting the miko and until she worked in unison with Hayate and controlled her skills, that would never happen and she took a deep breath to exhale her frustration at not feeling ready from the very beginning, “I will catch up with you, I will do everything it takes to be in good shape to protect the miko from the moment my hand recovers.” It was something she truly had to achieve… She smiled at Mei as she looked at them, somehow she already trusted the maid and saw a friend in her, and she truly was grateful of how she helped her with such devotion.
"Likewise, Gina-chan, I shall feel obligated to tell you if ever you are being too damned stubborn for your own good.”
Gina almost smirked when his lips twitched but she knew she had to behaved, both promised to. And so she grinned at his words and nodded. She did hope he would let her know when she did or said what she should not, she was still learning about his country and culture and did not want to ruin her reputation over a silly misunderstanding. “We will help one another.” She looked outside the window and smiled noticing how the sunlight already shone through, in many ways Hayate seemed alike the sun, although she was not sure why but, it seemed to suit him. Of course she would not say that, ever, his ego was already too much to handle, feeding it would ensure there was room for no one else in the Palace.
“You did very well, Gina-chan, and I think you've been quite brave. It would be difficult for most to face the cold so soon after what you had gone through.”
She felt her cheeks warm but it was her fur to show how proud she was of his praise and then said cheekily, “You should not expect any less from a samurai.” Plus she one her father would never forgive her if she showered weakness over anything. True, at times you were only human but he always taught her to do her best in everything and not let anything stop her form achieving her goals in life and protecting others was what a samurai had to do mostly. So in a way it was rather sarcastic that she was chosen as a Seishi when she actually was a samurai, quite a befitting position, right?
”Mei, if you would have some food sent for the both of us, it would be greatly appreciated. You may then take some time off. You have worked hard tending to the lady, and your assistance is appreciated.”
Gina smiled at Mei and nodded, she deserved time off after helping them so much. She still thing there were many things about the maid that made her adorable. And Gina was so happy that she were the one to tend to her, she knew they would be good friends, and she had been surprised when Mei tried to protect her from Hiroto. She watched the maid go and only then realised that Hayate had read her thoughts once more by ordering some food.
“I presume, since we both missed breakfast, that you would be as hungry as I am.”
She smiled and said softly, “You have read my thoughts again, Hayate-kun. Just now I was beginning to realise how hungry I was.” When she leaned on his shoulder she was not sure what drove her to do so but she was afraid he might move away or push her saying she was being too forward, she probably was, but then again her mother always scolded her for being bold and she was never able to change that about herself, she believe that if anyone liked her it had to be with her virtues and defects and if not well she was not interested in becoming friends with them. She felt him move and kept looking at the flames realising he was not pulling back, and was rather surprised when he placed an arm round her. Instinctively she moved even closer into his embrace leaning her body against his chest but keeping her head on his shoulder. She closed her eyes and smiled at him whispering, “Thank you, Hayate-kun, for everything…” She kept her eyes closed and smiled softly feeling her body temperature recover minute by minute and her injured wrist was being protected by the heat within the blankets.

“Please forgive me, I… I was quite happy with your suggestion I hope I did not offend you…”Hayate raised an eyebrow at her. Had he acted offended? He knew he was not good at such things, but he had thought he had not shown he was okay with her reaction. "There is nothing to forgive, Gina-chan. I am simply glad to have made you happy." He smiled just briefly. "As a friend, that is the sort of reaction I would want, is it not?" He glanced at her, and hoped she would soon feel more comfortable being herself around him. It was the sort of thing that would help if they were going to work together from that day forth. “Don’t push your luck.”The Crown Prince chuckled. This was Gina being herself, and he found he enjoyed it as part of their interactions. He drank some from his mug, and glanced over at her, watching her as she warmed up. He was glad she seemed to be recovering well. She seemed to enjoy watching the fire, something that he'd come to take for granted over the years. “It looks so beautiful from afar…”Hayate looked at her for a moment longer before he looked into the fire himself. He supposed it was quite beautiful. "Do you...not have fireplaces where you are from?" She wasn't used to the cold, so it could be that they did not have fireplaces...or perhaps that they were not common. "Admittedly, they are so common here, that after some time I believe those here tend not to notice them any longer..." He gazed into the fireplace once more. "But I suppose it is quite lovely..." “It is foolish to fight with an injury, you only make it worse, so you can be sure I would never do that…”Hayate nodded. "Good to hear. So long as you continue to show such good sense, we will get along quite well." He gave her another small smile, which seemed to be coming easier each time he did so in her presence. Perhaps she was his friend...she seemed to make him feel more relaxed, just from her presence. “I do not know about others but, it makes perfect sense to me.”The Crown Prince looked over at her once more. She understood his train of thought, and that was actually a little comforting. It had been so long since someone had really understood him, and it was refreshing. He nodded to her slightly and contined to watch the fire. “Is that so? Then be prepared to lose.”"Big words from a little girl." He smirked at her and hoped he was doing this friendly teasing thing correctly. He wanted to be able to joke with her openly when the mood struck, and was willing to let her tease back with no hard feelings. “I will catch up with you, I will do everything it takes to be in good shape to protect the miko from the moment my hand recovers.”Hayate finished his drink and set it aside. "I would expect no less from you." He said with confidence. "I am sure you will work hard and make up for lost time when learning your abilites..." “You should not expect any less from a samurai.”He gave a mock bow. "Forgive me for forgetting that fact, Lady Samurai..." He smirked as he looked back to her. "The swelling will be down enough soon that we can begin to treat it with heat." Hopefully that would reassure her. The swelling already seemed to have gone down quite a bit. “You have read my thoughts again, Hayate-kun. Just now I was beginning to realise how hungry I was. Thank you, Hayate-kun, for everything…"Hayate chuckled. "It was simple...As I said, I know we both missed breakfast, and I was not sure if that was my stomach growling or yours, so I thought it would be wise to plan for both." He realized they were still sitting quite close, and yet he didn't mind. He wondered if Gina did. He pushed the thought aside when there was a knock and some maids entered with their food. There was quite a bit of food, and he was sure there was more than enough for both of them. Once the food was placed on the table before them, Hayate thanked the maids and watched them leave. He caught Gina's eye and nodded to the food. "Please, help yourself. We will both need to build up our strength after this morning..." That said, he leaned forward and began to prepare plates for the both of them before holding one out to Gina. He knew it would be hard for her to fix a plate for herself, given her injured wrist. "If you would like to rest after we eat...I will let you have your privacy..." He realized, quite suddenly, that he was enjoying this time with Gina, and he almost hoped she didn't want to be alone just yet. He would not dare to say this, however, as it could be misunderstood, and he didn't want to seem improper by overstaying his welcome in a lady's room.

"There is nothing to forgive, Gina-chan. I am simply glad to have made you happy… As a friend, that is the sort of reaction I would want, is it not?”
Gina took a moment to regain composure before she slowly looked back at Hayate. She could not avoid smiling softly at his words. He was the Crown Prince and yet he still wished to be her friend? She was no one important and yet, he did not care for social class or status. She did not want this trust to be misplaced and wanted to do everything at hand to avoid him suffering any more incidents like those which occurred that morning. She did not want anything to taint his reputation, he was admired by everyone and his family loved him dearly. The royal family have been so kind to her, they did not deserve ungratefulness. She knew she was a bit bold at times and for that very reason she would have to be more aware of such and avoid unleashing it especially in the company of others. Although, as her eyes examined his deep amethyst abysses, she was certain that he had not minded this trait of hers. Did he truly accept her the way she was now? Was he truly… a friend? He named himself a friend of hers, so that must mean that he was making an effort to appear a bit more civil with her and, perhaps, this incident had broken the ice? She nodded to his words and gave him an earnest smile before her eyes moved back to her wrist. It is true that this experience could have cost them both their lives but, now, she was a bit grateful for it. Had it not happened she probably would have said or done something that would not be repaired and he probably would have too. This experience created a bond and now she understood the arrogant prince was actually a truly wonderful man. And this was supported by the level of affection his little sister felt for him, she was a pure and honest girl, she would never lie when it came to her view of others. She covered her hand with the blanket and could already begin to feel the tingling sensation in her fingers after bing so cold. They would be ok. Turning to look at him she asked softly, “How are you feeling, Hayate-kun?” He had jumped into the lake to save her, so she was also a bit worried about him.
She heard him chuckle but, this time, it was an enjoyable sound. It was not the mocking tone he used when making fun of others or being irritable. No, she found herself grinning and realised that she liked to see this side of him. Maybe she could also help so that he was happier and could relax around her, she wanted to see him laugh and smile more… deep in her heart this desire awoke and she knew that it would also make the lovely Queen and her daughter happy. The flames flickered and cracked and her emerald eyes shone with a deep light, she was feeling in higher spirits and the warmth was slowly relaxing her. She was truly making the best of this time they shared together but, she knew that, the next day they would have to answer for what happened that morning and though she did not feel the least remorse about what she did, she knew she could not cause a scandal so she would probably have to apologise or something. Just the thought of apologising to that brat made her eyes shine in anger, but it was a fleeting feeling as the pain in her wrist reminded her of where she was right now, and Hayate’s deep eyes reassured her she was still in his company. She could not waste this time thinking about scum like that girl and her father. She wondered what he would think if he knew that she wanted to make him enjoy himself and smile more.
"Do you...not have fireplaces where you are from? Admittedly, they are so common here, that after some time I believe those here tend not to notice them any longer… But I suppose it is quite lovely…”
She shook her head, “In Okinawa there is no need for them, it does not snow at all and the weather is mild and lovely although it can be wet and warm in the summer.” She shifted her seat slightly and then pulled the blanket to cover herself better, she and never experienced weather as cold as this… surely no one could fault her for being so weak and defenceless now, right? Especially after falling into a frozen lake, that surely broke all her strength and she wondered if she would ever get used to this extreme climate. If she did not then that would be a hindrance to the mission and she did not want to impose her weakness on such an important matter, she did not want a nation to suffer for her meekness. Hopefully once she horned her skills and recovered her strength, the cold would not be a wall she cannot evade. To his last words she nodded, “It is… I guess I have experienced new things since arriving here, which is to say I am looking forward to what this fate has in store for me. Although, I was somewhat resilient at first, I guess I cannot say I dislike it here, quite the contrary.” She smiled and slowly raised her legs to stretch them and theca her ankles, they seemed to be regaining motion now, yes, she was stronger and stronger now… She finished the content in her mug.
"Good to hear. So long as you continue to show such good sense, we will get along quite well.”
A smile suited him more. And yet she wondered if he was the way he was so that no one would take advantage of him. Being the Crown Prince meant the pressure was on, many would get close to him for the sole person of getting some benefit and she was sure that the persons who insulted her that morning were that sort of people. She felt somewhat sad that he had to go through something like that, but then again he had his lovely family and surely they were his strength and the reason he fought on every single day. She loved her own family dearly and knew there was nothing she would not do for them. Hayate’s words brought her back form her mind and she said admittedly, “I will do my best.” Although, that would not always be the case, she was a bit impulsive at times, just as he had witnessed that morning. But she hoped he would always be patient with her and remind her if there was ever a moment when she was in danger of doing anything rash. “But that is what friends are for right?”
"Big words from a little girl."
Gina raised an eyebrow but smiled, “Just you wait and see, I will beat the Crown Prince and then he will go home crying…” She stuck her tongue at him feeling more relaxed to be in his company. Who could have thought she would actually get on with a person she thought she would only loathe? He had seemed so arrogant and selfish at first but then… she closed her eyes enjoying the warmth of the blanket, she owed him her life and yet he still chose to be nice to her. Could it be something brought a change in him? Or had she seen the façade he only showed everyone else apart from his family and close friends? But then… that would mean she was a close friend as well, right?
“I would expect no less from you… I am sure you will work hard and make up for lost time when learning your abilities…”
She was truly grateful for that bout of confidence he granted her and she only hoped she would be as good as he expected her to be. Usually she was quite the perfectionist when it came to everything she did but, having someone as extraordinary as Hayate looking up at her, well… that added considerable amounts of pressure. Of course he was not trying to do that but… Gina could not help it feeling such. She lightly bowed her head and said, “I will do my very best, I would not want to let down my friend.” She knew that they said it was strange for a Seishi to be dragged into their mythical world and not just a miko. Nonetheless, that had to mean something, she was chosen and her skills have to be strong and reliable. She just had to practice and discover what they could be, surely she and already experienced some of it the night before. She was curious as to what her skills could do and how far she could take them, how powerful was she? So many questions and yet she knew she would have to wait to learn the answers. It was almost maddening having to wait even for that.
“Forgive me for forgetting that fact, Lady Samurai… The swelling will be down enough soon that we can begin to treat it with heat.”
She looked at him with mock annoyance and then waved her unharmed hand dismissively at him while feigning to have been sorely hurt, “Pride and honour are very important traits to samurais, do not forget again, Highness.” To ensure he knew she was jesting she winked at him, however, that much was true even in Okinawa. Honour in her family was precious, she noticed her long liver hair was drying as well and she gently tangled one finger on a lock as she seemed to remember her beloved mother. She wondered if they knew she was here and hoped they did not worry too much about her.
"It was simple...As I said, I know we both missed breakfast, and I was not sure if that was my stomach growling or yours, so I thought it would be wise to plan for both."
She nodded, he was bring modest? Now that was a first, she wanted to tease him about it and simply laughed silently for a moment. But then she looked at the maids and watched as the food was being served. It was then she realised something, actually… it would be quite difficult for her to eat, she would have to hold the plate and also take the food. This was going to be truly annoying, and rather humiliating. She hoped Hayate would not laugh too much at this…
“Please, help yourself. We will both need to build up our strength after this morning…”
“Y-Yes…” She was about to try and pick a plate but Hayate beat her to it and even placed some food on it. She was a bit surprised and caught her breath before she quickly reached with her healthy hand and took the plate thanking him. She did not expect him to be so considerate, he was truly full of surprises, so different form the Hayate she had met. She did her best to fixate the plate on her lap and then slowly lifted her chopsticks and began to eat slowly, she had to remind herself that she could not use her other hand, or else the treatment would be a complete waste of time and effort. The food was truly delicious and she was glad it was brought at that moment, for she was beginning to feel faint and rather dizzy due to lack of nourishment. She wondered what would have happened had Hayate stayed in the castle instead of going after her. Would she be alive now? Would she had survived on her own like this? Honestly… she did not know but she was glad he had chased after her. Of course she was not yet ready to admit that.
“If you would like to rest after we eat...I will let you have your privacy…”
She was a bit taken aback by his words and she ate silently for a moment pondering how to respond to that. She did not want to sound rude or scandalous but… She enjoyed his company and somehow wanted to learn more about him, his personality and family and surely after they recovered he would go back to his duties as the heir to the throne. This implied he would be busy and she would not have the heart to become a distraction or an impediment to his duties. She finally took a deep breath before she said, “It is kind of you to… be so considerate. But…” she turned to look into his eyes and admitted, “Would it be ok if we talked a bit more? I mean, after all you are also recovering and well I would not wish to keep you from your royal affairs if I dismissed you knowing you have yet to mend completely.” Was she being too selfish though? One thing she knew, she had no desire to be alone or fall asleep now, when she knew that she had lived the closest experience she and ever had with death. Although, deep within her she suspected that was not the… only reason…
